    The Intentional Childhood

Welcome to The Intentional Childhood Podcast. In this space, we will discuss ways to be purposeful in how we live and parent. When our kids leave our homes, what they will remember are the small moments, the simple ones. But these small moments will impact how they view themselves and the world. And who they ultimately become will impact the world. Small things matter.

Ep 5: Purposeful Play, Pt 2: How do I view play? Feb 17, 2020
    Show notes

Ep 5: Purposeful Play, Part 2: How do I view play?
    Summary:
Today’s episode is going to be a lot less about our kids and a lot more about us. It is hard to be an intentional parent if we personally do not live lives that are intentional. Intentional means done on purpose, deliberate. Are we making deliberate decisions for our kids? Or are we just doing what’s always been done or what culture is doing without much thought? I believe how we view play is clouded by our adult lens. Today we are going to focus on what could be clouding our lenses.

Ep 4: Purposeful Play, Pt 1: What is play? Feb 03, 2020
    Show notes

Ep 4: Purposeful Play, Part 1: What is it?
    Summary:
Today, we are going to narrow our focus and talk about what play is. We are going to look at the definition, we are going to separate out different versions of play and we are going to dive deep into this idea of free-play specifically.

    Questions to consider after listening:
How do I view play? Do I separate play from learning? Why do I do that? What do I remember about play? What does my child need, to have the freedom to play? Am I doing something that may be hindering it - if so, why?

    Ep 2: Intentional Letting Alone
    Summary:
This episode is focused on you doing less as a parent and allowing yourself to be okay with that. One of the keys to being an intentional parent is to know when you can and should let your children be. I am going to suggest that boredom is not only good for children but it is also necessary for their development.
