    The (in)courage Podcast

Welcome to the (in)courage podcast! We are all different ages, in different life stages, and we come from different cultures and churches, but our common thread is the hope of Jesus. Each weekday we meet you right where you are as one of our writers shares what’s going on in her everyday life and how God’s right in the middle of it all. We bring our joys and struggles equally so that you can feel less alone, and be empowered by the hope Jesus gives. We hope you’ll bring us along with you on your morning walks, driving to the grocery store, waiting in the preschool pickup line, alone in your kitchen, or as you wind down for the evening. Wherever you join us, you’re welcome here, and we’re honored to be a part of your day.

Read our daily posts at incourage.me, and find us everywhere on social @incourage.

The (in)courage podcast is brought to you by DaySpring. For over 50 years, DaySpring has created quality cards, books, and gifts that help you live your faith. Find out more at DaySpring.com.

    Show notes

When we get face-to-face with God, He shows us the big picture, what we can’t see when we are wounded, beaten down, and weary. Sometimes we must stop the merry-go-round of life and intentionally seek out a place where we can commune with God without interruption so that He can get us back on track. This isn’t indulgence. This is taking our relationship with God — and how that relationship works itself out in our realm of influence — seriously.

Becky Keife: Miracle Chickens and a Reminder of God's Presence Oct 24, 2022
    Show notes

God doesn’t expect us to navigate our trauma or move forward in our weakness alone. Isaiah 40:11 tells us that “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” God doesn’t expect us to navigate our trauma or move forward in our weakness alone. He draws near to us. He isn’t scared of our brokenness, our messiness, or how stuck we may seem. He delights in picking us up and carrying us.

Kayla Craig: For When You Wonder if God Is Really with You Oct 21, 2022
    Show notes

God’s ever-present grace is like the swirl of the galaxies around us. In the moments when you are most overwhelmed and you wonder if God's goodness can really be trusted, take a look at the night sky, marvel at a photo of the universe, or close your eyes and imagine the stars lighting up all around you.

Stephanie Bryant: Don't Be Fooled. God Doesn't Play Games. Oct 20, 2022
    Show notes

You and I might need a reminder that God can be trusted. I’m thankful the Holy Spirit reminded me that we don’t have to play the game that’s being offered, whether it’s about building a house or whatever you face today. There is no game with God. No con. No gamble. All He wants is to love you and for you to trust Him day by day.

Anjuli Paschall: Make Space for Sadness Oct 19, 2022
    Show notes

God makes space for our sadness and we make space for others. Grief is not meant to control or to be controlled by us. The invitation is to be with Jesus in our sadness for however long necessary. Let Jesus be your guide. Let your heart feel what it needs to feel.

Jennifer Dukes Lee: Table of One Oct 18, 2022
    Show notes

Here’s what we risk if we don’t find a way forward: we will each end up sitting at a table of one. Maybe you’ve been feeling like no one has room at the table for you anymore because of the way you feel about politics, parenting, climate change, alcoholic beverages, policing, critical race theory, religion, science, divorce, international adoption, vaccines, or public education. The list is unending.

Kathi Lipp: A Group Nobody Wants to Be In Oct 17, 2022
    Show notes

We begin our own healing by helping others heal. Some things in this life we can’t control, but love and support from others can take a little bit of the sting out of hardship. And on the other side, loving and supporting others who are going through what you’ve gone through gives value to an experience that you would never want or wish on anyone.

Kaitlyn Bouchillon: You Are Not a Trash Can Oct 14, 2022
    Show notes

You are not a trash can. You can choose to hold the garbage words that were spoken over you and to you — if you want. But also, you do not have to. They were not kind, they were not truthful, and you do not have to hold them.

Michelle Reyes: In Our Darkest Moments, God's Shalom Protects Us Oct 13, 2022
    Show notes

In our darkest moments, God’s shalom offers us protection. In the midst of difficult seasons, we can pray, “God, protect me with your shalom.” God’s shalom is the promise of wholeness, of being able to flourish – emotionally, mentally, spiritually – even when life doesn’t feel worth living anymore.

Jennifer Dukes Lee: The Energy You Can Bring Into Every Room, for the Rest of Your Life Oct 12, 2022
    Show notes

We don't have to complicate it. We co-regulate by praying, showing up with food, and being comfortable with someone else’s need for silence. We co-regulate through a listening ear, a meaningful conversation, a hearty laugh, or an inside joke about Wheel of Fortune.
The word co-regulation changed everything for Jennifer. Leave your reaction and comments here: https://incourage.me/?p=227825
