Welcome to the (in)courage podcast! We are all different ages, in different life stages, and we come from different cultures and churches, but our common thread is the hope of Jesus. Each weekday we meet you right where you are as one of our writers shares what’s going on in her everyday life and how God’s right in the middle of it all. We bring our joys and struggles equally so that you can feel less alone, and be empowered by the hope Jesus gives. We hope you’ll bring us along with you on your morning walks, driving to the grocery store, waiting in the preschool pickup line, alone in your kitchen, or as you wind down for the evening. Wherever you join us, you’re welcome here, and we’re honored to be a part of your day.

One of our (in)courage contributors, Kathi Lipp, is an expert on decluttering. Recently when I couldn’t decide what to do with a sentimental object, she asked me, “Will you ever go looking for it?” It’s a powerful question that continues to help me filter what should stay and what should go. She said that everything I get rid of makes space for growth in my life and teaches me to trust that God will bring what I need in the moment. It’s both wise and biblically sound advice."

100 Days of Strength in Any Struggle: Surrendering All, with Barb Roose, Becky Keife, Mary Carver, and Michele Cushatt Mar 16, 2024

In this bonus episode, we introduce a new series and discuss the themes in the book, '100 Days of Strength in Any Struggle. This first episode of five is on the theme of Surrendering All, and four writers share their thoughts and stories of surrender and how it can feel overwhelming and like a last resort. Michelle shares her story of surrender during a difficult season in her marriage, while Barb shares her experience of surrendering control over her child's developmental delays. Our friends emphasize that surrender is an ongoing process and invite listeners to trust in God's power and let go of their own efforts. They conclude with a prayer for surrender and encourage listeners to explore their book for further guidance.
Takeaways:

Surrender can feel overwhelming and like a last resort, but it is an ongoing process in our relationship with God.
Surrendering control and trusting in God's power can lead to unexpected blessings and a deeper understanding of His character.
Pouring out our hearts to God and letting go of our own efforts opens up space for Him to work in our lives.

Kristen Strong: When You're Doing the Work of Two People in a Friendship Mar 15, 2024

"I can trust God to work toward my good. When I'm getting a lukewarm response from someone after extending the hand of friendship, I've found freedom in saying to myself, "Ya know, Kristen, she's just not able to reciprocate now. Maybe she won't be ever. Either way, you're gonna be fine." ⁠And then I decide to take the pressure off myself (and her!) and just let her be.
With a willingness to keep my heart open to people, time and experience have taught me that while I can't do the work of two people in a friendship, I can trust God to work toward my good in leading me to those who'll welcome my efforts and reciprocate with their own."

Jesus cares about saving our souls and He cares about soothing our sorrows.
Jesus cares about forgiving our sins and He cares about making our daily provisions.
