Hi, I am Teresa Kenney and I am the co-creator of The Hormone Genius Podcast. Today's episode is a "get to know me a little better" podcast! The hope is that it will allow you to understand my expertise, my passions, and how I came to love everything related to women's healthcare, natural fertility and the beauty and gift of women. I have been a women's health nurse practitioner for over 20 years, and I have learned so much from my patients and their stories, their struggles, and their strength in overcoming many conditions in women's health. I am married to the most awesome husband, Dan, who has supported me in everything (by the way he wrote the book Dad Genius which really gives you the real story of our lives). Together we have a big, crazy family with 8 kids; Anna, Isaac, Jude, Brendan, Daniel, Rachel, Fulton and Joshua. My experiences of being a wife, mother and career woman have formed me into being the best healthcare provider I can be. I hope you enjoy this short look into my life journey. Ep. 3: The State of Women's Healthcare Aug 26, 2020
    Show notes

🎙️ Redefining Women’s Healthcare: Why You Deserve More Than a Band-Aid Solution Is today’s healthcare system really serving women well? In this powerful episode of The Hormone Genius Podcast, Jamie and Teresa are tackling a big and essential question: What is women’s healthcare—really—and what should it be? Across the U.S., many women feel frustrated, dismissed, or uninformed when it comes to their health. Too often, the go-to solution for menstrual cycle concerns is a prescription for birth control—used as a quick fix for everything from acne and irregular periods to cramps and heavy bleeding. But does this approach actually heal the problem? Jamie and Teresa dive into: Why so many women feel unsatisfied with conventional women’s healthcare How the birth control pill is frequently used as a “band-aid” for deeper hormonal issues The urgent need for root-cause-focused, restorative, and cooperative care What true, cycle-aware healthcare looks like—and why every woman deserves it The beauty, design, and dignity of the female body and cycle This episode is a passionate call to action: women deserve better. Better answers, better care, and the knowledge to understand how their bodies work. Whether you’re a young woman just starting your health journey, or you’ve been navigating frustrating symptoms for years, this conversation will empower you to advocate for yourself and embrace your health with confidence. 💡 Let’s build a future where women are seen, heard, and healed—not Medical disclaimer: The information presented in The Hormone Genius Podcast is for informational purposes only and is not intended to be a substitute for actual medical or mental health advice from a doctor, psychologist, or any other medical or mental health professional.
