DUSTY MAY Apr 18, 2023

Show notes

Fresh off a historic Final Four run with his FAU Owls, Coach Dusty May joins the pod to chop it up with two delighted Hysterics!

“Rusty Dusty” was born and raised a Hoosier just outside of Bloomington in Eastern Greene County, and became a part of his beloved program as a student manager under Coach Knight from 1996-2000, mixing it up with the likes of Andre Patterson, Michael Lewis, AJ Guyton and Kirk Haston, to name just a few.

Determined to make a life in coaching, he joined staffs at USC and then back at IU under Mike Davis, and then became an assistant at Eastern Michigan, Murray State, UAB, Louisiana Tech and finally Florida, under Mike White.

Destiny then beckoned him to Florida Atlantic University, where in 5 years as head coach he’s never had a losing record, and this season went 35-4, placed FAU in the AP Top 25 for the first time ever, won the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles, and then set the world on fire as he led the Owls to the Final Four in Houston.

The Hysterics could not be more proud or excited to welcome the CBS National Coach of the Year and fellow Hoosier, Dusty May!

BRACEY WRIGHT Mar 07, 2023

Show notes

Few Hoosiers of the 21st century could fill it up like Bracey Wright. A heralded recruit from deep in the heart of Texas, Bracey hit the ground running in Bloomington and soon became the one of the most lethal offensive threats in college basketball. Despite such an auspicious start, an injury that took years to heal and a program in a downward spiral soon overshadowed Bracey’s prolific seasons in the candy stripes.

This honest and retrospective conversation once again reveals how fans and the media, not knowing what is truly going on behind the scenes, can create a negative and often unfair narrative around a player and his career. After listening, it is all but impossible to not reassess one’s own opinion on Bracey and his time with Indiana.

As if that wasn't enough, Mike Woodson and his Hoosier squad triumphed over the Illini in a nail-biting battle that almost ended with Ward and Eric being permanently banned from all IU sporting events. Not only did the Hoosiers take sole possession of 3rd place in the conference, but Trayce Jackson-Davis surpassed his very own coach for the 5th most points ever scored in the men's program.
