This third episode of THE HALL looks at Richard Pryor, whose use of intimately autobiographical material transformed comedy as we know it. Pryor transmuted tragedy into electric stand-up routines, and it’s fair to say that every comedian who came after him carries his influence. This episode examines Pryor’s stand up, his films, and even his revolutionary, short-lived NBC TV series “The Richard Pryor Show.” To honor Pryor, we speak to Tracy Morgan, Howie Mandel, Reginald Hudlin, Sherri Shepherd, Laraine Newman, Richard’s daughter Rain Pryor and more.

This second episode of THE HALL looks at Joan Rivers who is appropriately described as “fucking funny” by one interviewee. On this episode, host Cristela Alonzo talks to so many of Rivers’ friends and colleagues to honor the trailblazing comedian. From Rivers’ early years experimenting with Stand Up in New York City’s Greenwich Village to her comeback after professional and personal setbacks after getting banished from The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Rivers was rarely afraid to offend, she took on sensitive topics and hecklers alike. There aren’t many examples of comedians who, on the day they die, are the most popular they have ever been. To honor Rivers, we speak to Susie Essman, Ellie Kemper, Aisha Tyler, Sherri Shepherd, Mario Cantone, her daughter Melissa Rivers, and more.
