Jenny has always loved thrift stores. To her, they're treasure hunts filled with forgotten antiques, hidden bargains, and pieces of history waiting for a second chance. So when she found a stunning piece of ruby carnival glass for just eight dollars, she couldn't believe her luck.
At first, it was just another beautiful addition to her collection.
Then she started seeing a man she'd briefly noticed inside the thrift store. He appeared outside her apartment. Then inside it. Always watching. Always silent.
What began as the thrill of discovering the perfect antique quickly became a terrifying question:
What did she unknowingly bring home from the thrift store?

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART THREE
For nearly 150 years, Bethany's Home Sweet Haunted Home in Jackson, California has witnessed life from every angle. Built in 1878, the historic home has served as a boarding house, family residence, and countless other roles as the Gold Country town around it evolved. Along the way, it also developed a reputation for something far more unusual.
Today, guests report encounters with spirits believed to still call the home their own. Among them are Maggie, a former owner said to remain with her husband and child, along with other lingering personalities who seem more interested in sharing the house than frightening its visitors. Owner Elsie Lodde joins us to discuss the home's remarkable history, its resident spirits, and why so many believe this haunted house is filled with friendly ghosts rather than fearful ones.
This is Part Three of our three-part conversation with Elsie Lodde about Bethany's Home Sweet Haunted Home.

This is Part Two of our conversation.
Rob and Teresa Heckenlively never set out to own a haunted hotel. During a family vacation to Osceola, Missouri, they called a realtor simply because they wanted to see inside the long-vacant Commercial Hotel. They weren't looking to buy a historic landmark—but by the end of the tour, that's exactly what they wanted to do.
Built in 1867 after the Civil War's Sacking of Osceola destroyed an earlier hotel on the property, the Commercial Hotel has welcomed famous guests including President Harry Truman and brothers Jesse and Frank James. Today, many believe not every guest has ever truly checked out.
As Rob and Teresa began bringing the historic hotel back to life, they discovered they weren't the only ones invested in its future. Before the restoration was even complete, Rob had an encounter so unsettling it kept him away from the hotel for months. Since then, guests have reported heavy footsteps, voices in empty hallways, shadow figures, and other unexplained encounters that continue to fuel the hotel's haunted reputation.
Today on The Grave Talks, Rob and Teresa share the remarkable story of rescuing the Commercial Hotel—and what it's like living with whatever may have never left.

For nearly three years, she loved living in her apartment. It felt safe, comfortable, and completely ordinary. Then she got engaged, started planning a wedding, and began packing for a move into her new home. That's when everything changed.
It started with small things that were easy to dismiss, but the closer moving day came, the more difficult those explanations became. Soon it wasn't just her experiencing the strange activity. Her mother, sister, and even her fiancé witnessed things they couldn't explain, leaving them all wondering why the apartment had suddenly become so active.
The mystery has never been whether something strange was happening. It's why nothing happened for nearly three years... until she was getting ready to leave.

He never believed ghost tours were anything more than good storytelling.
When he and his wife signed up for one during a weekend getaway, they expected an evening filled with local history, old legends, and maybe a few laughs before heading back to their hotel. Instead, one strange moment inside a centuries-old jail left him with a feeling he couldn't quite explain.
He put it out of his mind.
Until, nearly a week after returning home, someone began walking the hallway outside their bedroom.
The footsteps always followed the same path. They always stopped outside the bedroom door. And no matter how many times they searched the house, there was never anyone there.
Did something simply spark their imagination... or did the ghost tour bring home more than just a memory?

In the quiet town of Ione, California, a fortress of red stone looms over the landscape — a place where hope once turned into horror. Preston Castle, opened in 1894 as a reformatory for troubled youth, quickly gained a darker reputation. Behind its towering walls, countless young men endured harsh punishment, despair, and untimely deaths. Today, it stands as one of the most haunted locations on the West Coast.
From slamming doors and ghostly voices to sightings of shadowy figures pacing the cellblock halls, Preston Castle’s tragic history has left a permanent spiritual scar. With Melissa Zelico, team leader of Preston Castle Paranormal, we uncover the chilling stories that echo through its corridors — stories of former wards, caretakers, and spirits who refuse to move on.
Step inside the castle that was meant to reform lives… but may have trapped souls instead.
