In 1986, a group of clever-minded women in Newberg were tired of not being allowed to join the other local service clubs in town and decided to create their own club. They wanted a place to learn about important issues of the day and also have a place to discuss those issues. And thus, Newberg City Club was born. After nearly 40 years, Newberg City Club is still accomplishing its mission and has featured many prominent guests as you’ll learn in the episode.
In this episode, Newberg City Club President Kat Ricker shares about the club's history, the important role it serves in Newberg, and how Newberg residents can benefit by getting involved.

If you’re a high school student—or a parent of a high school student—you know how expensive it can be to have your kids in sports, or really any extracurricular activity. And while schools have budgets for these activities, it’s not near enough to cover all of the expenses. Newberg's school district is no different, which is where the Newberg Booster Club comes in. The booster club is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to support all of the athletic and extracurricular activities at Newberg High School. It’s also a parent group for all the students at NHS where you can make friends, have fun, and find support while working to give every student a positive high school experience.
In this episode, Booster Club President Jen Yahn and I discuss how the Booster Club got started, why there is such a need, ways to get involved, and more!

Homeward Bound takes in these animals and cares for them until they are adopted by a new family.
