The Gestalt Gardener — Games & Hobbies
The Gestalt Gardener

Each week, horticulturalist Felder Rushing shares stories, answers questions and just talks gardening. Of course, you’ll hear a bit of “cheesy music” in every program and you might hear a bad joke or two as well. The Gestalt Gardener is a long-time favorite on MPB Think Radio, due in no small part to Felder’s laid-back, your-neighbors-might-talk-but-so-what approach to gardening.

Email Felder anytime at garden@mpbonline.org and listen Friday mornings at 9 and Saturday mornings at 10 to The Gestalt Gardener on MPB Think Radio. And in the meantime, as Felder says, get out and get dirty.

The Gestalt Gardener | Floriade Felder Jul 29, 2022

Show notes

While Felder spends most summers in Europe, it is not all rest and relaxation. Just this past week he made a trip to Amsterdam for the International Horticultural Exhibition Floriade in Almere. Floriade only happens every ten years and Felder reports some of the exhibition's highlights and how Mississippi plants and flowers are always a part of the showcase. During another round of southern gardening questions, he talks about fruit ripeness, dealing with insects, and how your next road trip can be much more awesome (or weird) with RoadsideAmerica.com.

The Gestalt Gardener | Tomato Sugar Jul 15, 2022

Along with another round of summer gardening questions, Felder "eats some crow" after being proven wrong about the tomato ripening process. Let's get dirty!

The Gestalt Gardener | Bottle Tree Man Jul 08, 2022

Bottle trees are more about attitude than gardening. You do not even have to have a garden to place a bottle tree in your yard. Felder has compiled just about everything he has seen and heard about bottle trees into one location: https://felderrushing.blog/bottle-trees/. Between answering questions about stink bugs and scorched plants he talks about bottle trees and how they bring a touch of "glass" to any space. Let's get dirty!
