In segment 1 Joey and Holly talk about 7 things that can not be recycled
    Take-Out Food Containers
While your late-night pizza or Chinese takeout may come in cardboard containers, these types of boxes cannot be recycled. Any grease or food particles that may be present can potentially damage and/or contaminate the other materials that are to be recycled
    Plastic Grocery Bags
Many people think that if something is made out of plastic, it can be recycled but this does not apply to plastic bags, since they have a tendency to get caught in recycling machinery and potentially damage the equipment. If you're interested in recycling plastic bags, check to see if your local grocery store will accept your old plastic bags for reuse.
    Plastic Bottle Caps
If you recycle plastic bottles, such as water or soda bottles, detergent bottles or other containers with a hard plastic twist-off or flip-top cap, be sure to remove them before tossing them in the recycling bin. These types of caps are typically made from polypropylene, or plastic #5, and can't be recycled..
    Styrofoam
Styrofoam, or expanded polystyrene, of any kind cannot be recycled. This includes packing peanuts used in moving boxes, styrofoam coffee cups or food containers, coolers, etc. Styrofoam can neither be recycled nor does it biodegrade and you should be careful to limit your use of these types of products
    Certain Paper Products
There are certain types of paper products that can't be recycled, either because of issues related to contamination or issues related to their composition. Napkins, paper towels and tissue are generally considered too contaminated to recycle Paper that is laminated or has a plastic coating, such as a frozen food box, cannot be recycled because the coating prevents the fibers from being broken down properly during the recycling process
    Certain Types of Glass
Glassware and ceramics are designed with a higher melting point than other types of glass and cannot be recycled Pyrex baking dishes, lightbulbs, fluorescent lighting, window glass, mirrors, plate glass, eyeglasses and glass art should also be left out of the recycling bin
    Shredded Paper
Shredded paper represents a problem for recycling plants because of the difficulty involved in sorting the recyclable paper from the nonrecyclable material. Shredded paper can also potentially clog up the machinery and can be difficult to handle. Consider sending your shredded paper to the compost pile instead

1.Tell us more about your farm. You have a lot going on there, including over 800 varieties of plants. What types of plants do you grow? Anything more than others?
2.You are a certified USDA organic farm - how does a farm get the certification and what does it mean?
3.You are a pollinator friendly farm -why is it so important we are friendly to pollinators and how can even the home gardener be mindful to pollinators?
4.A lot of people have issues with growing lavender - what are some good tips for growing lavender?
5.If one has a lot of fresh herbs to save and use, is there an ideal way to get the most out of them?
6.Tell us more about your books?
7.How do we find out more about you and your farm?
In segment 4 Joey and Holly answer gardening question.
    Garden questions
How can i keep raccoons away from porch they is nothing there to eat they come on the porch and do their business there any suggestions
A: put a couple a plates of standard moth balls
    2. It's September 1 and I just severed a major vine feeding the only two pumpkins I have. I had lots of dead and dying leaves (growing a plant in a large container on my deck). Just fertilized the other day, and seems to be doing better. But now I'm scared my little pumpkins might dye. I just stuck the end of the vine back into the soil. Hoping it develops roots so the fruit will continue to grow. I have several blossoms on other vines, but wonder if they even turn into baby pumpkins, will they mature before the frost? I'm guessing 60 days or so isn't enough. so I need to see what I can do for the ones I got.
A:Sadly your small pumpkins will most likely not grow and because it was a major vine you may lose the plant. There are if on the ground feeder roots the attach to the ground to help the plant
    3. Wild grapes
    4. How do I know when my Sweet corn is ready to harvest.
5.I recently canned salsa. The recipe was an approved water bath recipe which I pressure canned instead of water bathing for the time mentioned in the recipe. I canned in pint jars. I was really given a hard time by an acquaintance telling me it was not safe. Is this true. I canned in pint jars, 10psi, 25 minutes.
A: This is fine. You shouldve processed them a few minutes less, but they are ok .

Segment 4 Joey and Holly answer gardeners questions
Q;Can you can fruit Peaches pears with Splenda or does it have to be real sugar ?
A: You can use splenda - recipes online - ball blue book, etc
Q:what is the difference between bread flour and all-purpose flour?
A:Bread flour has a higher gluten content - gluten is the protein in wheat that makes it chewy, binding, and doughy
Q:Can I can cherry tomatoes with the skin on and then remove when I want to use? Thanks Mike
A: You cannot can cherry tomatoes with the skin on. It is not safe and also not recommended.
    4. How can I lower the PH of my soil for blueberries
A:Several materials available at garden centers will lower soil pH; elemental sulfur; aluminum sulfate; iron sulfate; and sulfur coated urea. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages. Generally materials should be worked into the soilafter application to be most effective..
The amount of time it takes to raise soil's pH level depends on the substance used and the starting pH level, but the process usually takes one to two years. Although you can raise soil pH faster or slower, doing so more quickly often has risks for plants.
Recently I can and garlic beans and noticed when I was done with that the water level in the beans who is down quite a bit more than what was there when I started. I was wondering if there is any harm in this. Should we throw them or keep or eat?
5 I never knew this could be so invasive! When do I harvest this and then ..how do I get rid of it forever? It is invading my rhubarb garden. Hope the rhubarb doesn't taste like horseradish.
In the early fall you need to dig it all up. Get every last bit. If you leave even a teeny root it will regrow
