Sage Rosenfels: Coaching Matters Nov 08, 2022
    Show notes

Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep A fourth-round draft choice by Washington in 2001, Sage Rosenfels was traded to Miami prior to the 2002 season and spent four years with the Dolphins, sharing a quarterback room with the likes of Jay Fiedler, Ray Lucas, Brian Griese, A.J. Feeley, and Gus Frerotte during that stretch. Rosenfels’ career would span 11 NFL seasons, but it was his stunning performance in leading the Fins back from a 21-point fourth quarter deficit against the Buffalo Bills in 2005 that Miami fans remember him most for. In The Tank, Sage reflects upon his Miami Dolphins tenure (7:01) and takes us back to that epic fourth quarter comeback over the Bills in ’05 (12:01). In the wake of Tua Tagovailoa’s six TD performance at Baltimore this year, Sage also recalls his own four TD fourth quarter (21:19), explains how impactful it was to be surrounded by the likes of Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel after signing with the Houston Texans in 2006 (30:26), and provides phenomenal insight on their offensive philosophies (43:44). Sage goes on to detail the life of a back-up quarterback in the NFL (52:12), and attacks our Fish Tank Two-Minute Drill like he was back in command of a huddle (1:07:30). Mike Pouncey: I’m Hiring People Nov 01, 2022
    Show notes

Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep A two-time First Team All-American at the University of Florida, Mike Pouncey appeared to be a can’t-miss prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft, and proved to be exactly that after the Miami Dolphins selected him with the 15th overall pick. Pouncey would go on to start all 16 games during his rookie campaign, and earned three Pro Bowl nods over the course of his seven seasons with the Dolphins, twice at center and once at guard. Pouncey played out the final three seasons of his professional career with the San Diego Chargers, where he made another trip to the Pro Bowl in 2018. Making his second appearance in The Fish Tank, but his first without twin brother, Maurkice, Mike reveals how the Pouncey brothers went on a journey to transform their bodies in retirement and were able to lose nearly 60 pounds each (2:16) while also discussing the factors that led the twins to retire together (9:10). Mike gets sentimental when remembering former Fins Head Coach Tony Sparano (19:44), explains why group success as an offensive lineman far outweighs individual accolades (22:36), but does share how meaningful it was to make the Pro Bowl as a guard in 2014 (25:17), and to fulfil a lifelong dream of playing next to his brother at the highest level (29:25). Finally, the older Pouncey brother discusses their pursuit of success with several business ventures (30:08), his obsession with tattoos (33:06), and closes out the interview with the Two-Minute Drill (36:10). Looking Back: Csonka, Little & Morris Dive in The Fish Tank Oct 04, 2022
    Show notes

Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the1972 Miami Dolphins Perfect Season, OJ and Seth revisit one of their favorite episodes featuring three legends from that championship team: Larry Csonka, Larry Little, and Mercury Morris. There were many factors that contributed to the perfect 17-0 record. One reason was their fearsome rushing attack that helped Miami become the first team in NFL history to feature two backs who each rushed for 1,000 yards in the same season. Those two backs were Pro Football Hall of Fame fullback Larry Csonka and the electric Mercury Morris. Paving the way for Csonka and Morris was an all-star offensive line lead by Hall of Fame guard, Larry Little. This legendary trio dives in to The Tank and it is no surprise that the result is one of our most spectacular episodes to date. From Csonka and Jim Kiick sneaking out of the team hotel through the bushes, to Little earning his poultry inspired nickname, to Morris’ supernatural exploits with “The Root Man,” these guys are as dynamic on the mic as they were on the field! Contributors to this episode include Sean “DJ Prec” Todd. Theme song created and performed by The Honorable SoLo D.
