The Dover Demon Sep 17, 2020

Show notes

The year is 1977. Our setting is the charming, little town of Dover in the wonderful state of Massachusetts. The sun has crept behind the horizon and now the veil of night has blanketed our sky. You're young and carrying a mind that is still trying to understand the inner workings of the world. As the sea of stars light your path, you're walking home from an evening with your friends. Suddenly, you're eyes catch what seems to be a mistake in the rendering of nature. Your sight is bestowed the gift of a creature that you have never witnessed before. Something medium in height, coarse, grey and pink skin, what seems to be a pair of arms and legs equipped with sharp claws, and accompanied by a face that is void of features except two, huge eyes, is standing between you and the security that the warm light and locked doors of your home has to offer. But what feels like an eternity has only been a matter of seconds and as quickly as the beast had come into view it has disappeared. Frightened, you hastily get back to your house, your peace of mind, and try to forget whatever happened...whatever that was. In this episode, Matthew, Josh, and Brady talk about the Dover Demon. This creature was seen just a handful of times during the year of 1977 and to this day no one has any information on what it was. Come hang with us while we discuss this interesting tale and follow us on social media so you don't miss out on updates, episodes, and all sorts of other things! Stay safe and healthy out there everyone! You'll hear from us soon. P.S. Josh almost gets his ass kicked because...why not? TAINTOR.

Check out the episode for more details about that and stick around for some future episodes detailing what we have in our little shop of horrors! SS Ourang Medan Aug 31, 2020

Show notes

The sea is a familiar, albeit unknown, piece of our world and with it, the waves carry tales across the globe for storytellers and scholars alike, to share amongst the rest and ultimately construct part of the very foundation that is our maritime history. We've heard of Blackbeard, the infamous pirate, and even the spectral vessel, The Flying Dutchman. We've seen other myths and legends from cinema, such as The Pirates of the Caribbean and even Spongebob Squarepants. One such mystery that is much more recent than the aforementioned is the SS Ourang Medan. The Ourang Medan is a ghost ship which was supposedly discovered by The Silver Star after the latter had intercepted an S.O.S. from the phantom sea-bearer. After discovering the Medan's crew to be dead and an attempt to pull the ship back to port, the SS Ourang Medan unexpectedly exploded and so the primordial waters became it's eternal grave site. The waters of our world are not forces to reckon with but to live with, harmoniously. They are unsuspecting and unforgiving. If real, the SS Ourang Medan was just another victim for the seven sea's death toll. Check out the episode for more details on the story! We hope you enjoy your time listening and learning. Stay safe and healthy out there in the world and you'll hear from us soon.

Special updates are coming soon ;)

Theda Bara Aug 15, 2020

Show notes

After a long month of extraterrestrials in celebration with the anniversary of the Roswell U.F.O. incident, we decided to kick it back a little with an episode about, arguably, the first sex symbol of the silver screen, Theda Bara. This episode won't be packed with cryptids, time-travelers, or any high strangeness for that matter but what it will contain is the influence someone's persona can have in the cinematic world whether it's by your own doing or someone else. Vampires weren't all fangs and blood, Theda had her hand in the societal manufacturing and representation of what a "vampire" is according to the 1897 poem, The Vampire, by Rudyard Kipling. He portrays a vampire as simply a seductive woman and that is exactly the image that Theda would convey throughout her career. With tales of obscurity and grandeur shrouding Mrs. Bara, she would end up being one of the greatest actresses of her time even if she was mostly and unfortunately lost to it.
