    The Fall Line: True Crime

The Fall Line® is an investigative true crime podcast focused on cold cases, unsolved murders, and missing persons. We shine a light on what’s been under-investigated, under-covered, or both — diving deep into unsolved homicides, disappearances, and unidentified John and Jane Does. Through interviews with law enforcement, forensic experts, victim advocates, and families, we investigate what happened and why these cases remain unsolved. We dig into current issues in forensic science, DNA evidence, and criminal justice — and confront the disparities that leave underrepresented victims, including those lost to serial killers, without headlines or justice. Every episode is victim-centered, not drama-driven. Real cases. Real families. Real justice.

The Man in the Car: The Disappearance of Roger Aguirre Dec 11, 2024
    Show notes

We continue our coverage of Roger Aguirre. 22-year-old Roger Aguirre disappeared on November 20, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of many young men and boys who went missing in the city in the '70s—and like them, he received no attention from the media. Roger's sister, who'd spent years searching for him after they were separated as children, was sure he wouldn't simply leave. When his family discovered Roger had potentially crossed paths with John Wayne Gacy, they went to Cook County authorities about the remaining unidentified victims, and whether Roger could be a match. It was supposed to be one possible avenue in the search—but instead, created a new mystery.

Season 20 covers cold cases in Georgia, Illinois, and Montana, and the efforts of victims' families to reconnect with law enforcement and gain media attention for their loved ones.

The Disappearance of Calvin Willie Martinez: New Mexico Part 6 Sep 18, 2024
    Show notes

In our final episode of the season, we continue the story of Calvin Willie Martinez.

Mothers Day 2019 was the last time Calvin Willie Martinez's family heard from him. After suffering an immense loss in 2014, Calvin had struggled with depression and alcohol dependence. But he always stayed in contact with his loved ones—so when he called them from a truck stop in Albuquerque, NM, and promised he was heading home, they believed him. But Calvin never arrived.

Ever since, his sister Becky Martinez has been advocating for her brother. And as she discovered in late 2023, that persistence was vital: otherwise, his case would have remained erroneously closed.

Season 19 focuses on New Mexico and on the cases of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons/Missing/ Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIP/MMIWR) whose loved ones are still fighting for resolution in their cases.
