Emo Social Club is talking about why everyone hates on new music from artists that doesn't sound like how they used to.
It sounds like a really wild notion that some bands evolve their sound over the years, we know, but why are the majority against it?

Also, if no one likes Pinkerton by Weezer, we have now have problems with you.

A short episode since that's about as long as we want to be outside in Chicago, at the moment. Don't worry, we aren't completely frozen from the #polarvortex-we survived! Kinda…

Have you liked any new releases that seem to get the majority 👎? Why or why not? Let us know on our channels below!

Remember! Brian streams on Twitch on Mon/Wed now! Lizzie has some new articles coming out soon via @obsessxns & her personal site: LizzardZine.

Designing A Punk Rock Festival Jan 25, 2019
    Show notes

    What’s up fellow rockers?!

We sat down and talked with Mo Doron about being a rockstar graphic designer for Riot Fest, her charity efforts, and of course, who’s playing the festival this year. (She doesn’t know! Please stop asking her!)

There’s also some talk about the shitshow of Fyre Fest (duh) and Communism because Brian likes to put on spicy YouTube videos before we start recording. Plus we talk more about the realities of not getting paid while working in the industry.

Make sure to follow Mo on her Twitter & Insta and be rad to your fellow rocker!

Coming Out Of My Cage, Into The Land Of The Free Jan 18, 2019
    Show notes

The Killers, best known for writing top banger of all time Mr. Brightside (and other songs too probably) have released a new song called "Land Of The Free', a blatant protest song in the same vein as Bruce Springsteen and 60's folk protest songs. So if The Killers are willing to make their voices heard on current political issues, why aren't more artists making music taking a stand for what they believe in?

Is there a fear that some of their fans will be lost if they don't agree with the opinions in the music? Do they see the backlash a company like Gillette receives for their message, and decide it isn't worth it?

Brian and Lizzie discuss these issues through a shotty internet connection with a 720p video quality, and also Brian's Twitch channel and why you should support your friend's work when they share it on social media. 2019 - The Year Of #Like #Comment #Subscribe!

    Show notes

It’s the end of the first (for reals) week back to work/school/reality/hell whatever you may classify your daily lifestyle as AND we’re back with a new episode for the new year!

Our NYE’s were fine, but we jump straight into discussing the R. Kelly Abuse Allegations and how we as a society ignore black girls and women. Alternatively (literally) how come we don’t discuss the very real scenarios that happen in the emo-pop-punk scene with underage dating?

We’ve all seen that Hard Times article about “Pop Punk Frontman Ends Set Before 10PM So 17 Year-Old Girlfriend Can Get Home Without Breaking Curfew” or something along those lines.

Of course we laugh, because it’s satire of what we see in the scene-but then why aren’t we openly discussing this on a serious level?

Can’t stop, won’t stop with the Politalks! New Year, Same(ish) format.

Also, we want to hear from you! Let us know what you want us to cover topic wise. Is there a hard news topic we haven’t talked about? More band interviews? TELL US!

An Interview With Some Chicago DIY Vampires (aka The Audio Dead) Dec 14, 2018
    Show notes

“We're vampires,” says Paddy McGuire of the Audio Dead.

A local Chicago band that looks to be theatrical through their goth-old school, My Chem + AFI, sound. Their latest EP, “To The End” dropped on Halloween-two years prior their debut album, “From The Beginning” rose from the grave in 2016.

Of course, we talk also about their influences and splattered in some spooky-spicy takes on the band Aiden and the DIY scene, while discussing the large hill they needed to climb to become “the final girl”. Well, final creatures of the night. You get the point.

The Article Is... Nov 30, 2018
    Show notes

Well this is growing up, and we’re talking about some “adult” topics.

Nah, nothing dirty, but it’s about how content can be limited soon on YouTube due to Article 13. And some creators could lose their creative jobs from this law. If that isn’t enough to make you upset, then realize that your beloved MEMES will be drastically reduced because of this law.

Now we totally have your attention.

We also talk about healthcare and insurance. Yuck. Too adult.

Sure it is, but it’s important to know about your options for health coverage, and a info about how ACA (Obamacare) works. Especially for those who are musicians, merch managers, content creators, writers, etc. If you fall into any of these categories, or even just work part-time and don’t get insurance through work, what do you do to for coverage (if any?).

Do you include something in your pre-show rituals to not get sick? Are you isolating yourself and never going out? Or do you just hope and pray/give good vibes that you don’t get sick? Get in touch with us on Twitter and let us know!
