The Dangers of Family Court Nov 29, 2024
    Show notes

Families are under attack by our family court system. Two parents say their children were put in harm's way when the judge placed them with the abusive parent. Nearly every six days in the US, a child is killed amid a custody dispute. Families are under attack by our family court system. The big problem is these custody cases are often siloed from the criminal court system and the family judge is deciding in a vacuum. Twenty-two-year-old RJ says he and his siblings were in a 15-year tug of war between his mother and father. RJ says he was collateral damage of a broken system that failed him. RJ's mother says the judge in her case was biased and sent her to jail several times. Jason says his 8-year custody battle over his daughter nearly killed him but he would do anything for his daughter. Former Los Angeles Criminal prosecutor and co-anchor of News on Merit Street, Loni Coombs, went on assignment to find out if Lady Justice is failing families throughout America. Dr. Phil, Loni, Michigan Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina who presides over family and criminal court cases, and psychiatrist and former medical director for Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services talk about why the family court is the most dangerous court in the US and what couples can do to avoid it for the sake of their children.

Roofied On The Rise Nov 26, 2024
    Show notes

Drink spiking is on the rise and extremely underreported. More than 90% of people who suspected their drink was spiked didn't report the incident to the hospital, police, or venue. Nearly 11 million women in the US have been sexually assaulted while drunk or drugged. Drink spiking is so common yet so underreported due to lack of awareness, shame/embarrassment, memory loss, fear of retaliation, lack of evidence and or legal/social barriers. 50% of women and men surveyed had their drink spiked at least once. 37% had their drinks spiked multiple times. 72% of people don't know what to do in a spiking situation and when victims DO go to the hospital they're often turned away unless there are signs of rape or assault. These drugs are sheer assault weapons and can be used for serious crimes. They are very expensive to screen so while you can get screened for marijuana in almost every medical facility, most hospitals don't have screens for some of the most common date rape drugs: Rohypnol, Ketamine and GHB. We'll hear from several people who say they were roofied and it was way worse than any hangover – symptoms of vomiting, blacking out, low pulse, weak heart rate and shallow breathing. We'll feature a test strip demo and other solutions.
