"The Orthodontic Podcast Is Dead" w/ Dr. Chris Cetta | Ortho Takes Ep. 5 Apr 28, 2026
    Show notes

Dr. Chris Cetta, host of the Illuminate Orthodontic Podcast, joins Ortho Takes with a take aimed squarely at his own format: the orthodontic podcast is dead. Chris traces the genre from its beginnings with Lance Miller's Elevate Orthodontics Podcast through the wave of shows that followed, and makes the case that the space has become oversaturated to the point of irrelevance. Viewership is down, options are everywhere, and Chris is convinced the audience has stopped caring.
In this conversation he breaks down the history of orthodontic podcasting, why so many shows have launched and stalled, what's actually happened to listenership across the profession, and what the decline says about where orthodontic media is heading next.

The Evolution from Candid to Oliv | Nick Greenfield, CEO | TDO: Live! Ep. 54 (Audio) Apr 27, 2026
    Show notes

Few companies in orthodontics have an arc as interesting as Candid's. The brand launched in 2017 as a direct-to-consumer aligner company, repositioned as CandidPro for general dentists, and has now relaunched as Oliv, built specifically for orthodontists.

In this episode of TDO: Live, Dr. Kyle Fagala sits down with Nick Greenfield, the CEO who has been at the center of all of it. Recorded live in Nashville at the Oliv launch event, the conversation walks through the full evolution of the company, what made the direct-to-consumer model untenable, why CandidPro pivoted toward general dentistry, and what finally convinced Nick that orthodontists needed a platform of their own. They also get into the harder questions around trust, long-term commitment to orthodontist-led care, and where the line between dentistry and orthodontics is heading.

It's a rare kind of conversation in our space. A CEO willing to sit down, take the hard questions head-on, and talk openly about what worked, what didn't, and what comes next.

Ortho Takes Ep. 4: “If You’re Not Using Custom Brackets, You’re Living in the Past” w/ Dr. Geoff Sudit Feb 11, 2026
    Show notes

Orthodontist Dr. Geoff Sudit (Mint Orthodontics, Minneapolis) joins Ortho Takes to drop a bold truth about where the field is heading. Known in the industry for embracing custom-printed braces, remote monitoring, and patient-first innovation, Dr. Sudit challenges the status quo: “If you’re not using custom brackets, you’re living in the past.” On this episode he breaks down why personalized technology matters, how it changes the patient experience, and where modern practices can’t afford to lag behind in 2026.

52: Airway Orthodontics Debate (Video) Jan 17, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of The Digital Orthodontist: Live!, Dr. Kyle Fagala hosts a candid, nuanced conversation on one of the most debated topics in orthodontics today: the airway. Joined by Dr. Audrey Yoon, Dr. Jeremy Manuele, Dr. Ryan Tamburrino, and Dr. Sanjivan Kandasamy, this episode brings together differing clinical perspectives to explore what the science actually supports, where the evidence is evolving, and where claims may be running ahead of the data. The discussion unpacks common questions around expansion, sleep-disordered breathing, interdisciplinary care, and the role orthodontists should—or should not—play in managing airway-related conditions. With an emphasis on intellectual honesty, professional responsibility, and patient-centered care, this episode challenges listeners to think critically, avoid oversimplification, and engage in thoughtful dialogue as the specialty continues to grapple with airway-focused treatment claims and education.
