The Edmonton Oilers have won five games in a row and that means, Jason Gregor has had his hair punishment cut in half. The guys started the show by talking about the Oilers heater and Gregor’s excitement that he will be able to once again shave his head.
Are the Oilers back? Frank seems to believe so. The playoffs are still a ways away, but five straight wins have their fan base feeling a lot better.
That led to some talk about the Western Wild Card race. There are more than a handful of teams still in the mix right now, but who are the legit contenders? Frank and Jason are both high on the Wild and Oilers, plus they each shared a team that they think are pretenders.
They also talked about the Vancouver Canucks and their blueline. Even after acquiring Nikita Zadorov, the team is still reportedly interested in bringing back Ethan Bear. Frank says the Maple Leafs could have interest as well. Frank also provided some insight into what Filip Hronek’s next contract could be.
This week’s Board of Governors meeting also gave us a few interesting headlines. Frank was in attendance and shared some thoughts on the future of best-on-best hockey, the salary cap, and the Coyotes future in Phoenix.
Tyler came in with Fill in the Blank and asked the guys about how many points Connor McDavid will finish the year with, Connor Bedards goal total, and which team has the best goalie tandem?
They wrapped up the pod with some talk about the LA Kings and how tight the race for the Pacific Division will be.

Frank joined the podcast live from Seattle as he is out west for the upcoming Board of Governors meeting. He gave us a preview of what is expected to be covered at this years meeting today on the podcast. One topic that will come up: expansion. Frank had some insight into that.
Other items include mandating cut-proof gear, the Coyotes off-ice issues, and an update on the salary cap.
Before they got into that, they covered a handful of other topics from around the league, starting with a handful of struggling teams in the Eastern Conference.
Things are not going well for the New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Which fan bases should be legitimately concerned and which ones are just going through a little mid-season blip? Frank and Jason gave their thoughts on that.
They also talked about the surprising run by the Arizona Coyotes and whether or not they’re a legitimate playoff contender. They also hit on Anze Kopitar’s incredible season before bringing in Tyler for a new edition of Buy or Sell.
Will there be a coaching change this month? Will Tyson Barrie get traded before the roster freeze? Will the San Jose Sharks finish last in the league? Tyler got the guys' opinions on those big questions.

Jason and Frank are back with another fresh episode of the pod and considering the amount of news that’s broken over the last 72 hours, there was a lot for them to get to.
After talking about some teams on streaks right now, they dug into Patrick Kane’s decision to join the Detroit Red Wings. There were plenty of suitors, including the Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers, but the man they call “Showtime” is deciding to take his talents to “Hockeytown”.
Why did this make sense for both Kane and Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman? Frank gave us some insight into the process and Jason talked about whether or not this makes the Red Wings a legit competitor.
From there, they talked about the latest in the Corey Perry situation. His contract has now been terminated, but does that mean his NHL career is done? Frank gave us some additional background info about what’s been happening and discussed what could be coming next.
Tyler popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he talked with the guys about the coaching change in Minnesota and more. From there, Jason and Frank talked about whether or not more coaching changes could be coming (we’re looking at you, Ottawa).

On today’s edition of The DFO Rundown, Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli went around the league and hit on all the big headlines from the weekend.
Nothing was bigger than the news that Corey Perry will be away from the Chicago Blackhawks. With no solid info on the situation, there has been a lot of speculation about what’s going on. Frank gave us an update and talked about why the Hawks are being extra cautious.
That led to some talk about Connor Bedard’s recent play and some other stories from the weekend.
The Minnesota Wild are still sputtering along and now sit below the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference playoff picture. Will the Wild make a coaching change? Frank doesn’t think so.
Gregor talked about how incredibly average the West is looking right now and how easy it might be for one of Edmonton or Minnesota to sneak back into a playoff spot.
Another team that’s looking to stay in the hunt is the Calgary Flames. If the Flames stay close to a playoff spot, should GM Craig Conroy hold onto some of his players on expiring contracts? Frank and Jason debated that.
That also brought the guys to talk about the market for defensemen around the league and who’s interested in adding a blueliner. Frank also gave an update on the Patrick Kane sweepstakes.
Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell and the guys gave out their Crown Royal Generous Guy’s of the week.

We are creeping closer and closer to American Thankgiving, which of course is an important benchmark in the NHL when it comes to teams and their playoff chances. With that date looming, Frank and Jason talked about a few teams that have been surprises to this point in the season and whether or not they have legit playoff chances.
Before that though, they recapped Frank’s trip to Sweden and talked about the results of the NHL’s Global Series. The stars shone bright in Stockholm and William Nylander and Tim Stutzle both had big moments for their teams. That led to some talk about Nylander’s future and how the Leafs can afford to keep him.
From there, they talked about the Calgary Flames and their current state, gave out their Crown Royal Generous Guy of the Week, and Tyler swung by to play a little Fill in the Blank.

The NHL’s Global Series is taking place this weekend in Stockholm, Sweden with the Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Senators, and Wild all heading across the pond to each play two games.
To begin today's pod, Frank talked about his trip to Sweden and some of the local cuisine that’s available. They also talked about Swedish star, Elias Pettersson and the red-hot Vancouver Canucks.
They have the league's three highest-scoring forwards and they look like a team that’s taken a step into the elite tier in the Western Conference. One other big story to watch in Vancouver is a potential extension for Pettersson. Frank gave an update on where things stand on that front.
The guys also talked about the current state of the Oilers, who have now won three in a row. Frank also talked about Jack Campbell’s struggles in the AHL.
They also talked about a pair of teams in the Eastern Conference that are on opposite ends of the spectrum. The Washington Capitals are 7-1-1 in their last nine games and are finding success in ways that they really never have before. The New Jersey Devils are incredibly banged up, but Frank is worried that these injuries may be sinking them.
Tyler also popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the Ducks' chances of making the playoffs, the struggles in Minnesota, and whether or not the Canucks are legit Cup contenders.

The Edmonton Oilers decided it was time to make a change yesterday despite beating the Seattle Kraken 4-1 on Saturday night. Jay Woodcroft and his assistant coach Dave Manson, were relieved of their duties and replaced by Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey. Woodcroft leaves the Oilers with a 3-9-1 record this season; however, he has the best win percentage of all time by an Oilers coach.
Stay in Alberta, Nikita Zadorov submitted a trade request to the Calgary Flames. Zadorov is one of many pending unrestricted free agents for the Flames this season, making life difficult for their new general manager, Craig Conroy. Should the Flames begin their rebuild, or is there still a way to get everything trending in the right direction with the same players?
Also on the show, Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli discuss the Washington Capitals 7-4-1 start, the New Jersey Devils life without Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, and finally, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the NHL Global Series.

On today’s episode of The DFO Rundown, the guys started the show on a positive note and talked about a few teams who are off to flying starts this season.
A lot of people wondered if the Tampa Bay Lightning would be able to survive the first ten weeks of the season without Andrei Vasilevskiy an the answer is that they aren’t just surviving, they’re thriving. Are the Bolts legit Cup threats this year?
Out west, many thought the Vancouver Canucks could jump back into the playoffs this season but almost nobody would have guessed that they’d be one of the best teams in the entire league out of the gates. Is it sustainable? Frank thinks so.
Frank and Jason also talked about Flames Head Coach Ryan Huska’s decision to bench Jonathan Huberdeau. They talked about where the two sides go from here and how Huberdeau can turn it around.
Tyler then hopped on for a fresh edition of Fill in the Blank delivered by DoorDash. He asked the guys about Jack Campbell’s future, what’s next for the Sharks, and what Elias Pettersson’s next deal could look like.

Things are going back for many teams across the NHL, but nobody is struggling more than the San Jose Sharks. Over the last week, the Sharks had back-to-back games of allowing 10 goals while countering with only three themselves. It’s a dismal time in that organization, and there isn’t much light at the end of the tunnel. Another team in disarray is the Edmonton Oilers, who looked uncharacteristically bad again on Saturday versus the Nashville Predators. On Thursday, the Sharks and Oilers clash, which could be an opportunity for both teams to gain some confidence.
In more bad news, Jack Hughes is going to be out week to week for the New Jersey Devils. However, Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli discussed how this could now be an opportunity for more players to step up, but who will?
Finally, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in an identity crisis after Brad Marchand was involved in a collision with Timothy Liljegren, which resulted in the young defenceman getting injured. A viral video then emerged after the incident after the Leafs bench was unresponsive to Marchand chirping them during a media timeout. It’s safe to say fans are frustrated at seeing that after the team signed Ryan Reaves, Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi this summer to address that area of weakness.
1:08 Jack Hughes injury
3:35 Sheldon Keefe calls out his team
7:48 Anaheim beats Vegas

The start of the Michael Andlauer era in Ottawa has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start, and its no fault of the Senators' new owner. A pair of investigations that began before he bought the team have resulted in some stiff punishments being levied against the club.
Jason and Frank began today’s podcast by talking about the league's decision to strip the Sens of a first-round pick over the Evegenii Dadonov situation and Andlauer’s reaction. It led to some talk about another vague statement by the league and whether or not they need to change the way they operate.
Pierre Dorion is also out as GM of the club and Steve Staois is in on an interim basis. Could Staois take over full-time soon? Is Head Coach DJ Smith officially on the hot seat? The guys debated it.
They also talked about the struggling Calgary Flames and whether or not they can overcome another slow start and find a way to make the playoffs. It led to a bigger conversation about whether or not the Flames should be keeping this core locked in or if they should head toward a rebuild.
They also hit on the Anaheim Ducks early season success, Quinn Hughes’ hot start, and more on today’s episode of the pod.
0:55 - Senators’ punishment & Andlauer’s response
22:10 - What’s next in Ottawa?
