Ep: 371 – Philadelphia Eagles Preview – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 30, 2021

Show notes

Today we host our Game Preview for the battle between the Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles in week 8 of the 2021 NFL season.

Detroit Lions Podcast Game Preview

The 2-5 Eagles are coming off of a road loss, in which they were beaten by the Las Vegas Raiders. The injury-decimated Lions made a strong showing last week against the Los Angeles Rams falling just short of a win (again) after a late Jared Goff interception (again). These teams seem to be heading in opposite directions, the Eagles nosediving toward a rebuild, and the Lions ascending, playing solid football, and building young talent. While their records don’t reflect the directions the teams seem to be heading, that could easily change by the end of the year. Can the Detroit Lions pull out their first win at Ford Field in 2021?

We are joined (of course) by WWJ-Radio airtime superstar, Tony Ortiz, to break down what to expect in this match-up, and we’ll pick up some fun insider stories from TO along the way. We’ll cover some history between the teams, cover the Injury report for both teams, discuss match-ups, the Las Vegas odds and betting lines, and we’ll provide a final game prediction. This show is everything you need to get ready for game day with the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

Ep: 370 – Onward and Upward – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 28, 2021

Show notes

Well, that just happened. The Detroit Lions went to SoFi Stadium to play the Los Angeles Rams and played their hearts out in a game that was much closer than the score would reveal. Chris was there and will report on all things SoFi Stadium and the Lions Rams experience.

Detroit Lions Podcast Was There

The team came close. In a game in which they were 16.5 point underdogs, the Detroit Lions succumbed to the Rams late after Matthew Stafford absolutely abused CB Daryl Worley when he stepped in for an injured AJ Parker. That being said, they beat the heck out of the point spread.

Worley’s performance was so bad, that he’s already been cut. Its not unexpected, when you are already working in 4th and 5th string players to cover for injuries, eventually you’re going to hit the talent cliff. That’s what happened with Worley. A valiant effort by the Lions who are still looking for their first win after meeting the LA Rams.

That said, their best chance of the season for a win so far comes this week when the Detroit Lions play host to the Philadelphia Eagles. Expectations amongst fans are high for the Lions to return to the same form they showed in Los Angeles which should be enough to clip the Philadelphia Eagles wings. Chris and Jeff cover all that and more in this week’s show!

Ep: 369 – QB in Play ft. Mark Schofield – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 21, 2021

Show notes

After the Lions most recent loss, many are looking for the Lions to move on from Jared Goff. We’ll cover the Detroit Lions quarterback position in full, including options in the draft.

Detroit Lions Podcast Looks At Quarterback Jared Goff & The Draft

Jared Goff’s play on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals was pretty universally panned, and for good reason. He didn’t put the ball downfield, missed wide open reads, and was extremely timid on field. This years draft doesn’t feature a bumper crop of talent at the quarterback position either. Who might be worth a shot? Do we ride Goff another year? What’s the next step? Mark Schofield from Touchdown Wire joins us to discuss.

We’ll also cover Taylor Decker, Jerry Jacobs, the upcoming game against the Rams, and a whole lot more.

This is their first time at home since the controversial missed call from the officials in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. Ep: 367 – Cincinnati Bengals Game Preview – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 16, 2021

Show notes

Today we host our Game Preview for the battle between the Detroit Lions and the Cincinnati Bengals in week 6 of the 2021 NFL season.

Detroit Lions Podcast Game Preview

The 3-2 Bengals are coming off of a home loss, in which they were beaten by the Green Bay Packers in overtime. The injury-decimated Lions made a strong showing last week against the Minnesota Vikings falling just short (again) to a last second field goal. Both teams really need a win – Cincinnati in hopes of launching their season toward the playoffs, and the Lions to get the first win for their new coaching staff and turn around a team that is full of heart but falling just short. Can the Detroit Lions pull out their first win at Ford Field in 2021?

Ep: 366 – Lions Are Just a Play Away – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 14, 2021

Show notes

All in all, the loss to the Minnesota Vikings might have been worse for them than it was for the Detroit Lions.

Detroit Lions Podcast Sees Strength

For the Lions, a group of scrappy young guys who many thought lacked NFL caliber talent stood up and played hard until the clock hit ‘0’. When it did, they lost by a field goal set up by one player being out of position on the play before. The team is close and the coaching is strong. There are wins to be had.

Additionally, the team has been plagued by injuries. They rack up with Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow going to IR for the remainder of the season after having surgery on his toe. Some rookies (like our favorite UDFA CB Jerry Jacobs) are stepping up and showing what they can do – and we saw a lot. Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson did not have the day that anyone expected against the Lions secondary.

We’ve also got a conversation on why the offense is sputtering, the larger perception about Coach Campbell crying in the post game presser, and a whole lot more!

Ep: 365 – Minnesota Vikings Post Game – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 10, 2021

Show notes

Five games into the season and we’re here to help break things down after the Detroit Lions take on the Minnesota Vikings at U Sbank Stadium.

Detroit Lions Podcast Reacts

The Lions have their work cut out for them. A big divisional game which Kirk Cousins and the Vikings need to win if they hope to retain any playoff relevance this year. The Lions, with a majority of their salary cap tied up in players who aren’t on the field, are aching for their first win of the season and something to help elevate Dan Campbell and the coaching staff. With so many young players on the field, including podcast favorite Jerry Jacobs, we see a big chance for the Lions to grow talent in a way many other teams can’t. Let’s see how this plays out over the next few years. We’ll discuss big plays, turning points, and what’s next for the Lions in the 2021 NFL Season.

Ep: 364 – Minnesota Vikings Game Preview – Detroit Lions Podcast Oct 09, 2021

Show notes

Today we host our Game Preview for the battle between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings in week 5 of the 2021 NFL season.

Detroit Lions Podcast Game Preview

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off of a home loss, in which they were beaten by the Cleveland Browns, while the decimated Lions have the majority of the salary cap tied up in players that won’t see the field due to injury or departure. Both teams really need a win – Minnesota in hopes of salvaging their season and coaching staff, and the Lions to get the first win for their new coaching staff and turn around a team that is quickly spiraling down the drain. Getting a divisional win would be a direct injection of adrenaline for the winner. Can the Detroit Lions pull their first win out at US Bank Stadium?
