The fifth instalment of our wall-to-wall, behind-the-scenes look at Paul Seixas’s début Tour de France begins where Seixas’s love affair with cycling and the Tour also started, in Magland, just a few kilometres from the stage 15 finish on the Plateau de Solaison.

It was indeed an intense and emotional few days for the 19-year-old, as Daniel Friebe reports in this episode. As always, we hear from team-mates, coaches and opponents, as Seixas underlines his credentials as the man most likely to end Tadej Pogačar’s reign. Of course no one is any closer to knowing when that will be, or indeed how Pogačar will fall or abdicate.

In episode four of our series taking you behind the scenes of Paul Seixas’s début Tour, we begin with a trip down memory lane, to 1987, when another young Frenchman carried the hopes of the nation. Jean-François Bernard was his name, and we meet him in the fourth instalment of Ça Revient.

Other interviewees in this episode include Tour boss Christian Prudhomme, Seixas’s coach Alexandre Pacot, his all-terrain bodyguard Tiesj Benoot – and of course Seixas himself.

In episode three of our Tour-long series following the fortunes of French prodigy Paul Seixas, we focus on his first major test on the Col du Tourmalet. It would end up being a highly promising performance by Seixas, but also one that highlighted the dominance of Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates.

Cue some fairly bleak predictions about how much suspense is still left in this Tour, and some soul-searching about the very future of the sport. What can be done to spread wealth and talent more widely across the WorldTour? And, might UAE be poised to sign Seixas and tighten their grip even further?

If you don't find definitive answers here, the episode should certainly give you much to ponder.
