TCR Episode #123 | Mark Greaney - ARMORED Jul 04, 2022

Show notes

#1 New York Times bestselling author Mark Greaney returns to The Crew Reviews to discuss his latest standalone thriller, ARMORED—a novel inspired by his Audible Original drama of the same title.

Joshua Duffy is a Close Protection Agent—a professional bodyguard—and he’s one of the world’s elite operatives. That is, he was until his last mission in Lebanon. Against all odds, Josh got his primary out alive, but the cost was high. Josh lost his lower left leg.

There’s not much call for an elite bodyguard with such an injury. So, Josh has to support his family working as a mall cop in New Jersey. For a man like Josh, this is purgatory on earth, but miracles can occur even in Paramus.

A lucky run-in with an old comrade promises to get Josh back in the field for one last job. The UN is sending a peace mission into the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, an area so dangerous it’s known as Espinazo del Diablo—the Devil’s Spine. Only a fool would think they could broker peace between the homicidal drug cartels in the region, and only a madman would sign on to keep those fools alive.

Praise for ARMORED:

“Great fun for the reader….there’s never a dull page.” —Kirkus Reviews

“[An] enjoyable thriller from bestseller Mark Greaney….Explosive action sequences follow as Duffy and company seek to retreat to flat land and safety, and Duffy proves to be more than just a hardened military tactician. Readers will hope he’ll be back for an encore.” —Publishers Weekly

TCR Episode #122 | Brad Thor - RISING TIGER Jun 27, 2022

Show notes

#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor returns to The Crew Reviews to discuss his latest Scot Harvath thriller, RISING TIGER. This is Brad's third appearance on the show.

"With RISING TIGER, Brad Thor continues to astonish, doing the seemingly impossible and raising his game to yet another level. A masterful plot told at a breakneck pace that somehow manages to till fresh ground in a genre where it seemed every doomsday scenario has been explored, reveals a writer at the height of his powers. Pitting Scot Harvath against multiple dangerous enemies against the backdrop of superpowers on a collision course may sound familiar, but Mr. Thor weaves originality in at every turn, in every character, in every locale, creating a thriller as fresh and immediate as any in recent memory. Thor’s writing is like Harvath himself: inventive, efficient and lethal." - Sean Cameron

TCR Episode #117 | Stephen Lloyd - FRIEND OF THE DEVIL May 23, 2022

Show notes

On this episode, Stephen Lloyd, four-time Emmy nominated screenwriter/co-producer of two of television’s most successful series (Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother) joins the Crew to discuss his debut thriller, FRIEND OF THE DEVIL.

FRIEND OF THE DEVIL is a noirish horror story that combines the gleeful gore of 80’s slasher pics with the teen angst of a John Hughes film, stirs in the classic sensibilities of Poe and Stoker, and adds a dose of Raymond Chandler for good measure. The result is a keenly original tale that stands apart from its peers.
