Maria Brophy has been the art agent for her husband, Drew Brophy, for many years. She started a blog in response to the many art-business emails she received, this grew into releasing a fantastic book on the Art Business called "Art, Money & Success". I loved catching up with Maria in round two on TheCreativeEndeavour Podcast! We talked about the struggle her and Drew faced during the lock-downs, challenges of the art business, finding balance as an artist and much more. This was such an amazing experience and I found myself writing notes on the awesome tips she has for art business.
Maria has not only had a massive impact on the art world, but on me personally. I look forward to seeing where her journey takes her in the future!

I had the pleasure of interviewing the fantastic Michelle Dunaway in this episode! Michelle is a full time artist based in New Mexico, she captures the essence of the subject in her breath-taking portraits and figurative works with a distinctive loose-style. We talked about some of her current projects such as the Falconeer and her Africa workshop. We then went into talking about her favorite influences, painting the essence of someone's portrait and more! I'll definitely be bringing Michelle back on for round 2! I'm sure you'll enjoy this as much as I did!

Cody Oldham is an extraordinary young artist; at 19 years old he's achieved an outstanding level of success creating wildlife paintings full-time. His art is reminiscent of the greats of the wildlife genre, like Wilhelm Kuhnert and Carl Rungius.
Cody and I go way back, we started talking when he was only 12 years old, where I was coaching him with this art and giving him some pointers along the way. I could see then the enthusiasm and determination he had towards his art and future. It was inspiring to behold! Now, Cody is going from strength to strength, producing art for Galleries in the United States. We had a great conversation, his confidence is unreal and his passion for art is infectious.

DO NOT miss this opportunity to study with Joe!!!: https://www.joepaquet.com/classes-art-center-padula.php

This week I talk with Joe Paquet about his inspiration, plein air painting, how to find your stride as an artist, AI, the dangers of social media and the "Authenticity" trap and more! Joe is an authority when it comes to the "prismatic palette" and Plein Air painting techniques, but his approach goes beyond the technical. Joe is unashamedly himself, sharing with others what he truly believes, always in a spirit of service and a genuine love for people and desire to help others improve their art, by focussing on what's important. I always get so much out of talking with Joe Paquet. On this occasion, my second podcast with Joe, we also discuss ways to disconnect from the noise of the outside world and reconnect with what's truly important, finding work we enjoy and celebrating what we LOVE with our art.

Episode #50 Virgil Elliott Apr 27, 2022

Show notes

Virgil Elliott knows traditional oil painting, in fact, he wrote the book on it! It was a few years ago that I stumbled upon his book "Traditional Oil Painting" and read through, I quickly realised that there were many things I didn't know about my own profession; in fact there were many things I was doing in the studio that were causing irreversible harm to the paintings I had painstakingly crafted. Reading Virgil's book, and then joining the private Facebook page by the same name, represented a paradigm shift in my work. Virgil's teachings fundamentally changed the way I approach painting. In this conversation I wanted to revisit some of the themes we discussed way back in episode 2, when we spoke last, and pick up where we left off. This episode is one to keep coming back to: have a notebook handy!

Episode #49 TJ Cunningham Apr 20, 2022

Show notes

Check out the full VIDEO VERSION of the Podcast! https://www.patreon.com/andrewtischlerartist TJ Cunningham paints some incredible images of rural America and the animals that inhabit the farmed landscape. His paintings are not only incredibly realistic, he paints in a variety of ways taking a rather experimental approach to oils. I wanted to hear about TJ's approach to his creative practice, how he comes up with his images and how he developed his signature style. He didn't hold back, and there were so many take-aways in this conversation. It was wonderful to hear his experiences with Galleries and clients; it was refreshing to hear we hold similar views! There were so many nuggets of wisdom dropped throughout the interview! Please check out his amazing art at https://www.cunninghamfineart.com and on instagram @cunninghamfineart
