Happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful for the tenacity and talents of State Senator Rhonda Fields and Denver Judge Gary Jackson who share their life journeys. It is entertaining and instructive to learn the lessons from these pioneering African Americans who are now standout leaders in Colorado.

Rhonda Fields had two beautiful kids and a great job when her world got wrecked by the June 20, 2005 murder of her son, Javad Marshall Fields, and Javad’s fiancée, Vivian Wolfe. Rhonda sought justice at the trials of the killers of her family. She then moved into Colorado politics where she has been a legislator for a decade. Rhonda and Craig talk turkey and Colorado’s upcoming special Covid legislative session.

Our Troubadour Dave Gunders has a wonderful song for elected leaders (e.g. Mayor Mike Hancock, Gov. Gavin Newsome) who preach one thing but do something else. This bluesy song called Do What I Say is perfect for parental hypocrites and the times in which we live.

Judge Gary Jackson has lived a remarkable life in Denver, Colorado. This African American trailblazer has been a state and federal prosecutor before establishing his own great law practice. Now, Judge Jackson has been on the bench for nearly a decade and he is scooping up rewards as mandatory retirement approaches. This is the definitive interview of one of Colorado’s legal lions.

In Colorado’s First Judicial District (Jefferson and Gilpin counties), a smooth transition is underway between term-limited Republican incumbent Pete Weir and his successor, proud Democrat Alexis King. District Attorney Elect King joins me in Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge. She is fascinating.

The Lounge stays open for old pal Mike Foote. State Senator Foote is leaving the legislature but not before leaving his mark as the chief proponent of the National Popular Vote. Colorado voters just ratified Mike Foote’s legislation by passing Prop 113. We assess current events and how to survive Trump and this pandemic.

Felix Sparks! In 1993, this Colorado hero joined the parents of murdered children and me to battle the NRA regarding gun control for juveniles. Our group was called PUNCH! People United – No Children’s’ Handguns and we won big victories in the 1993 Colorado Special Legislative Session.

General Sparks was a WWII hero who survived Anzio and liberated Dachau. Alex Kershaw wrote the best book on Sparks, titled The Liberator, and it is now a hit movie on Netflix. My pal Alex Kershaw joins me to talk about his captivating new dramatization the whole world is watching.

Two prominent former Colorado legislators of different political parties join me to discuss current events. Vic Mitchell, a brave Never Trumper even as he finished second in 2018’s GOP Gov primary, returns to tell us what’s happened to the GOP and what happens next.

Former State Rep. Joe Salazar returns to Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge to discuss Trump’s fake litigation to overturn elections, and the responsibilities of Colorado lawyers and leaders now. We evaluate the Hispanic and Jewish vote and what electoral politics look like in the future.

Electoral College. It is odd the way we elect the President in America. Colorado’s voting right now on Prop 13 -- the National Popular Vote. Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge welcomes proponents and opponents.

Crazy Times. The Yiddish word is mashugana and it can apply to periods of time, certain situations, and/or to people. Trump is COVID-mashugana, and he has brought on crazy and divisive times. We go over the crazy things Trump said this week. We all must consider what comes next.

Good discussions help. Laura Chapin provides great talk as she feels for Kamala but not for Judge ACB. Laura preferred the Notorious RBG and wants to protect a woman’s right to choose. We discuss her opposition to Prop 115 in Colorado and why she feels that women (e.g. Jena Griswold) are not being treated fairly on social media.

Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge welcomes a fascinating prosecutor named Brian Mason. He is Chief Trial Deputy DA in the 17th Judicial District now running for the top job as Adams/Broomfield DA. Listen to his responses as I pepper Brian with questions about the sad deaths of Kate Petrocco and Elijah McClain. Then we talked Trump because, like me, Brian feels we need to speak out on Trump’s assault on rule of law.

Right-wing radical Trumpsters find instruction, propaganda, and succor from the local Salem affiliate at 710KNUS. There’s a scary connection between Denver Trump Radio and the Trump Train designed to derail an election Trump knows he’s going to lose. Bad things are planned for 10-10-2020 in Denver’s Civic Center Park. Trump will be repudiated if fair election allowed to proceed. Trump knows that.
