In 1994, the residents of a quiet suburban Detroit neighborhood were startled by the site of an Environmental Protection Agency cleanup crew in hazardous materials suits swarming a house on Pinto Street. It turned out the 17 year old son of the homeowner had attempted to build an atomic breeder reactor in the back yard.

Ep. 168 - The Silver Star Nov 29, 2021

Throughout the history of the old west, there are few lawmen with as interesting a story as that of Bass Reeves. He was a former slave who became known far and wide as perhaps the most prolific law enforcement officer in history. Some stories claim he arrested more than 3,000 criminals in his career, and shot and killed as many as fourteen men. He's also widely believed to be the inspiration for the one of the most famous fictional cowboys ever, the Lone Ranger.

Scientists estimate anywhere from eight to fifteen percent of the public suffers from the condition known as sleep paralysis sometime during their lives. Although scientists believe they can explain this strange sensation of waking up feeling paralyzed with fear. The people who suffer this affliction often insist they are being terrorized by evil forces bent on harming them. In this episode I'll tell you about the long history of sleep paralysis, and about the time during the late 1970s and early 80's when 117 otherwise healthy men died in their sleep.

Ep. 165 - The Premonitions Bureau Oct 18, 2021

In October 1966 a terrible mining disaster occurred in the Welsh village of Aberfan, killing 116 children and 28 adults. One strange thing that occurred following the disaster were the number of stories that began emerging that several children who were killed along with a number of other adults who should have had no knowledge of the flood, began reporting having psychic premonitions of the disaster before it occurred. This led a British psychiatrist named John Barker to create a premonitions bureau, where he collected stories of psychic visions, in the hope that they could one day use this information to save lives.
