How Thanklessness is a Mark of a Society in Decline Nov 29, 2019

In the first two chapters of his letter to Christians in Rome, the apostle Paul establishes that all people are sinners and separated from God, spanning the spectrum from non-believing Gentiles to religious Jews.Paul describes what leads the former group (non-believing Gentiles) into downward spiraling degrees of sexual immorality and other sins is suppressing the truth and not acknowledging God (v. 21, 28).That makes sense—reject the authority of God and man is the authority—and goes a long way to explain why American society today is “depraved, full of strife, arrogant, inventors of evil…and gives hearty approval to those who practice” sin” (Romans 1:28-32 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)] excerpts). But there’s another reason given in Romans 1...

Since 2012 when then-president of Chick-fil-A Dan Cathy dared speak up for biblical marriage, homosexual groups and a complicit media have made sure Chick-fil-A is relentlessly tagged as an “anti-LGBTQ” company. The smears didn’t seem to effect customers, as Chick-fil-A is the third most profitable fast food chain in America after McDonald’s and Starbucks. But in a surprise this week for the company that is known for being closed on the Lord’s Day, Chick-fil-A’s president announced it would no longer be donating to organizations like Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which require biblical morality amongst their leadership. This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Tim Wildmon, president of American Family Association and American Family Radio, another organization deemed “anti-LGBTQ” and a “hate group” by the leftist Southern Poverty Law Center, will join us to explain what it’s like to be in the LGBTQ’s totalitarian crosshairs and how to stand strong with biblical convictions.

It’s been said that “the most important thing about a person is their view of God.”If you think about it, one’s view of God—from a high and holy reverent view of God based on Scripture to the atheist who rejects that God exists to every view of God in between—is the fundamental driver for how one thinks and lives. For example, why wouldn’t an unmarried couple live together before marriage or why wouldn’t a mother encourage her son to be a girl if they don’t believe in the God of the Bible? After all, it seems reasonable that an unmarried couple should “try things out” before getting married. It seems reasonable that a boy who likes girl things “should transition to who he really is.”...

“I was just under the weight of my sin and I was being convicted that I was running from God, and I knew I needed to make things right, so I came to Christ. I came out of darkness into the light.”Most people wouldn’t think this quote would be attributed to rapper Kanye West, one of the best-selling musicians of all time, especially considering West’s sinful words and deeds in the past and his high-profile marriage to reality star Kim Kardashian. But his professed conversion to faith in Christ and his traveling “Sunday Services” have been making as much news recently at his just-released album, Jesus is King, which debuted at No. 1 on the charts. Many are responding to his claims of faith with skepticism...

Of those hundreds of thousands of questions, what do you think the No. 1 most asked question is?If you said, “What does the Bible say about women pastors?” you are correct.Think about that for a moment. Of all the questions, what the Bible says about female pastors is the No. 1 question? Why is that?...

“Tactics” for Conversations with Non-Believers Oct 25, 2019

The worldview divide between biblical Christians and the rest of society, whether secular or religious, has never been wider. Yet our “commission” remains the same—to “make disciples” of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19-20 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)] ).Before someone becomes a disciple, they must first “repent and believe in the gospel.” To get to that point of regeneration, God will likely use a conversation or many conversations with a Christian.Navigating conversations with non-believers is many things: tricky, exciting, anxiety-inducing, frustrating, and sharpening. Above all it’s the believer’s calling. 1 Peter 3:15 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)] says, “…sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.” 1 Peter 3:15 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)]This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Greg Koukl, president of Stand to Reason and author of Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions, joins us to discuss...

Christian -- Practice What You Preach Oct 18, 2019

During the earthly life of Christ, the Pharisees were a strict religious sect known for their public displays of religious acts, such as wearing showy garments, fastidiously washing hands, and giving alms and praying in front of others.Today, the term “Pharisee” is synonymous with “hypocrite” because Jesus said the Pharisees didn’t actually practice what they preached (Matt. 23:3). They focused on the minute aspects of God’s Law but neglected the larger matters of “justice, mercy, and faithfulness” (v. 23).In a similar vein, those who scream the loudest about “injustice” are selective in their outrage. They are quick to criticize all the perceived injustices in America, but when confronted with far greater injustices abroad, say in China, they remain silent. Pro basketball star LeBron James recently exemplified this...

Do you ever watch the cultural and moral battles of our day and think, “Is what is taking place actually for real?”For example, boys and girls are encouraged to choose their gender (as if that were possible) and given drugs to do so. People demand to be called by their “preferred pronouns”, such as they, ze, and hir, and those who refuse to play along with their self-deception are punished. Men dressed as women are invited by public libraries to read stories to little children about the LGBTQ movement. People dressed head to toe in black with their faces covered shut down opposing viewpoints, calling themselves “anti-fascist.”...

50 years ago in August 1969, just weeks after man set foot on the moon, a rock music festival know as “Woodstock” took place in upstate New York in a small town named Bethel. Nearly half a million young people descended on the town for three days of what would be an iconic event in American history.PBS recently released a film entitled Woodstock: Three Days that Defined a Generation. What took place at Woodstock that “defined a generation”? Why is this music festival, known for drug use and “free love”, considered to be “a handoff of the country between generations with far different values and ideals”? How does it help explain where we are today?...

You will alter the future if you influence the young. Looking at recent news stories, “indoctrinate the young” is a more accurate description.
