CTDW Episode 10 - Who are The (Fallen) Watchers? Part 2 May 09, 2023
    Show notes

Welcome back to The Christian Theological Dark Web. In this episode we explore probably the most controversial and bifurcating topic, not only in modern Christianity, but in our modern era. Genesis 6:1-4 has a strange passage that has skewed so much of our Christian theological interpretation as far back as the 4th century, when Rome adopted Christianity as it’s main religion.

We hack into the following topics: Who are the Fallen Watchers? Who are the Sons of God in Genesis 6:1-4? Are they different? Are they the same? What did they do that was so heinous? What have these concepts done to our modern understanding of theology vs our ancient brothers’ perspective on these topics?

    Show notes

Welcome back to The Christian Theological Dark Web. As the Great Cosmic War has continued from ancient times, man — who long after a heavenly war had already begun — became entangled in the mayhem of the gods warring against Yahweh, the Sovereign God over all things. As man fell to his literal eventual demise by manner of the Serpent’s deceit, he found himself out of grace with his Creator, and unable to enter back into Yahweh's presence. But, a Skull Crusher had already been promised. But, who was this Skull Crusher? How would He look? When would He appear? What would He ultimately do? And how would He ultimately save humanity and quell the relentless battle of the heavenlies?

This week, in observance of Passover week, we explore what Jesus - the Ruler of all, and Savior of all mankind - did for us. We explore what His actions mean in light of this seemingly endless war - both for mankind, and divine creatures who inhabit the high celestial places.

CTDW Episode 5 - The Quiet Rebellion Series Episode 3 - Praying in Pain through the Lense of Eternity Mar 14, 2023
    Show notes

Welcome back to The Christian Theological Dark Web. Today we are exploring the final episode of “The Quiet Rebellion Series.” In this final episode of the series, we explore prayer with pain as the backdrop. Pain is an inescapable reality for every living thing. The conundrum of an omnipotent and omnibenevolent God creating and interacting with us is potentially the most difficult enigma to reconcile in any human’s life. Today, we look at prayer’s place in the middle of pain. But viewed through the lense of the eternal nature of our souls and God’s divine story and purposes with special guest, Kelsey Lee Thomas.

    CTDW Episode 4 - (Un)Holy Yoga? Feb 27, 2023
    Show notes

Welcome back to The Christian Theological Dark Web. Today we are taking a short detour from our regularly scheduled program — the final episode of “The Quiet Rebellion Series” — to do a special episode entitled (Un)Holy Yoga? The church is continually more accepting of ideas and concepts that are detestable to the Lord, according to His sacred scriptures. Many in the church are increasingly turning to a blend of New Ageism and/or Eastern practices. So, in this episode Shelley and I explore any potential relationship between the practices of Yoga and Biblical Christianity. Can a Christian truly practice Yoga? Is there such a thing as “Christian Yoga”? Are they compatible, reconcilable, or diametrically opposed? Find out with us here today, on The Christian Theological Dark Web.

CTDW Episode 2 - The Quiet Rebellion Series Episode 1: The Middle Voice Feb 17, 2023
    Show notes

Welcome to the first of a three part series of episodes entitled: The Quiet Rebellion Series.

This is our 2nd episode overall. It is called "The Middle Voice"

In this episode, Shelley and I discuss what real prayer looks like based on Tyler Staton's book, "Praying like Monks, Living like Fools."

This episode explores the fact that in English, there are basically 2 main modes of speaking. The Active Voice (1st Voice) in which the speaker is the origin of the action done to someone or something else. There is the Passive Voice (3rd Voice) where the action happens to the subject. However, in Hellenistic Greek grammar, there is another main mode of speaking called, "The Middle Voice" (2nd Voice). This final mode of grammar allows the subject to enact things to and/or for themself.

This episode discusses how the Middle Voice is the true ebb and flow of prayer. Although God began the conversation, we add to it, receive from it, and influence it. Although the our human, and mere mortal, inclinations are inclined toward being an active demander or passive apathetic, we see that real and honest prayer can exist only as God Himself truly designed it: In The Middle Voice!

CTDW Episode 3 - The Quiet Rebellion Series Episode 2: The Prayer Posture of Rhythmic Stillness Feb 13, 2023
    Show notes

Welcome to the second of a three part series of episodes entitled: The Quiet Rebellion Series.

This episode is called "The Prayer Posture of Rhythmic Stillness"

In this episode, Shelley and I discuss what real prayer looks like in stillness and steady consistency based on Tyler Staton's book, "Praying like Monks, Living like Fools."

Prayer is a practice that has existed since man came to be. God made us, and therefore, communion with Him is the most natural thing possible. However, over time, and especially in the post-idustrial age, mankind began to more acutely suffer from an absence of dynamic interaction with his Creator. Our modern era has dramatically modified the kind of interaction that, even our parents, have had with stillness and rhythm in life, routine, and - often the most vastly overlooked - prayer. Here we explore the ancient nature of stillness and prayer continuity compared to our current nature of trying to fit prayer in somewhere.

The major areas of conversation center around:

    1. Modern movement with ancient stillness in all aspects of life
    2. Hurry being the deepest pang with which man is currently afflicted
    3. How conformity to hurriedness inculcates and foments with it also a conformity to thoughtless compliance and "proper attitudes" with regard to interaction in society. This conformity is often an acceptance of conformity to a non-Biblical thought, and therefore, action pattern.
    4. Hurry kills love
      1. The need to relearn stillness and rhythmic interaction with prayer and life
      2. Relinquishing the Illusion of Control to Find Peace
