Motherhood as investment in the future Sep 07, 2023
    Show notes

Change the story you tell yourself about your life. Make it a true story: https://www.simplyconvivial.info/story

I spent so many years trying to get my bearings, get a grip, figure out the routines, and make things run smoothly. I mothered with intensity. I did not keep house with intensity. I meditated on the word convivial and how to get out of my own head so I could build a home and life where we all enjoyed one another.

I educated my children to take initiative, to think, to problem-solve for themselves, not to accept commands unthinkingly. And I was frustrated when their practice attempts were aimed at me. Instead of noticing that they were stretching their muscles toward proper independence and directing it with joy, I strategized over how to make my own life easier.

But an easy life isn’t the goal of our mothering. The goal of life isn’t to find or make the easy road. Sanctification for God’s glory is the goal, both for us and for our children, which makes it also the goal for our mothering.

    Improve your homemaking - https://www.simplyconvivial.com/stop-overwhelm

Leann Erickson joins Mystie to chat about how the challenges of homemaking don't let up when all the kids are grown and gone. She shares how she shifted gears to adapt to a new phase of life and ministry.

Leann Erickson has been homemaking since 1994. She and David have lived in their townhouse in San Clemente, a coastal Southern California town, for 24 years. They have four adult children who were given a Christian education at home and at a local day school: a son in Phoenix who will be married this fall, a married daughter in Boston, and a daughter and son both studying at Grove City College near Pittsburgh. She is frequently on a plane to one of these cities in order to visit the kids, or to Minneapolis to visit her and David's parents. In her leisure time she enjoys reading, knitting, fellowshipping with their church family, studying foreign languages on Duolingo and going out dancing with David.

Women are the backbone of society, so we must be free from cultural lies & personal guilt and have the freedom of good habits and self-control so we can build God-honoring families and communities.

SPECIAL: The bandwagon isn't the problem or the solution Aug 17, 2023
    Show notes

    Get a homemaking makeover: https://www.simplyconvivial.com/stop-overwhelm

Simplified Organization is my signature online course that will walk you through getting your life in order. In the process, we learn that the biggest thing that needs to be ordered is our attitude - and we take concrete steps to do that.

Organizing our attitude might be the biggest thing that needs to be organized, but it's certainly not the only thing.

While walking through mindset shifts and attitude adjustments, we also set up a life management system:

    • a working calendar
    • vocation statements
    • time budget
    • planner
    • review habits
    • basic routines
    • command center

    and more!

When putting our home management skills and practices in order is paired with attitude and mindset centering, we grow in resilience, competency, and joy - not because we have it all together at last, but because we know how to handle the life that comes to us.

If life feels too hard, if your home feels too out of control, or if you just feel like you aren't "up to snuff" - Simplified Organization will give you the makeover - in attitude and skill - that you need.

Join today and find out how you can get extra help implementing the strategies over the next school year 2023 - https://www.simplyconvivial.com/stop-overwhelm
