Ep. 91: Pro Wrestling, a Doggie Friend and Captain America May 20, 2016
    Show notes

This week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show features two great guests and friends of the podcast.

Psychiatrist David Reiss returns to the show and shares his insights and thoughts about the deaths of music legend Prince and professional wrestling trailblazer Chyna and how they are victims of America's epidemic of prescription painkiller abuse. Dr. Reiss also shares his experience and wisdom about the challenges of pain management, detoxing, and recovery. Of course, David and Chauncey have to talk some professional wrestling and how Roman Reign's "flack jacket" is symbolic of how he is "protected" by the WWE and is subsequently hurting his ability to get over with the audience. Dr. Reiss also shares his thoughts about the documentary, The Resurrection of Jake the Snake Roberts.

Bill the Lizard is the second guest on this week's installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show. Bill the Lizard stops by the virtual bar and salon to offer his critical assessment of the new movie Captain America: Civil War. Bill also has some ideas on where the films need to go in the future and offers a very sharp and insightful observation about the relationship between Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and the Winter Soldier. Plus, Bill the Lizard suspects that we most certainly have not seen the last of HYDRA in the Marvel Universe.

During this week's show, Chauncey begins by offering up a dedication and remembrance for one of his doggie friends who was tragically killed last week by a reckless driver. Chauncey also talks about being invited to a "summit" at the White House and if he should go, as well as his recent guest spots on the RT Network and Free Speech TV.

To close out this week's show, Chauncey offers up some thoughts on the Republican Party's sick toilet obsessions and sex deviants who hide in toilets and sewers to look up women's dresses.

Ep. 90: Richard Rubin Interviews World War One Veterans pt. 2 May 12, 2016
    Show notes

Richard Rubin is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. This is the second part of my conversation with him about his great book about World War One, The Last of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten War. In this installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Richard continues sharing stories about tracking down the last living American World War One veterans, shares his thoughts about the famed Harlem Hellfighters, gives his insights about traveling to World War One battlefields in Europe, and offers some suggestions about how best to think about researching World War One and travel abroad. During this week's show, Chauncey is vulnerable while talking about how the news media has "borrowed" from his Donald Trump pro wrestling analysis without attribution or acknowledgement, cuts a promo on MSNBC's racism excuse-making for Donald Trump, and complains about a lack of etiquette by bicycle riders and people at movie theaters. Chauncey hints at a big decision he had to make this week about his online work and writing, and then proceeds to share his worries that his skin and other health troubles are the result of being under a "spiritual assault" by his enemies. In keeping with his meditations on religious fundamentalism, Chauncey closes out the show by sharing a radio clip from Right-wing Christian sex deviant bigots who are worried that the movie Frozen is turning 4-year-old children into "homosexuals".

Ep. 89: Richard Rubin Interviews World War One Veterans pt. 1 May 06, 2016
    Show notes

Richard Rubin is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. Richard is the author of the great book about World War One, The Last of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten War.

In the first of this two part conversation, Richard shares his story about tracking down the surviving American veterans of World War One, their insights about life, memories of their time in service some one hundred years ago, what he learned from meeting folks of such advanced age and wisdom, as well as the challenges and rewards of collecting such rare oral histories.

During this week's show, Chauncey discusses the controversy over Larry Wilmore's performance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the White Gaze, the "n-word", and the genius of Richard Pryor. Chauncey also demands credit for explaining the rise of Donald Trump, his advice to Trump for winning the White House in November, talks about WWE's Payback event, and is very excited about going to see Captain America: Civil War.

Ep. 88: Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Dave Grossman Explains Learning to Kill Apr 28, 2016
    Show notes

Former United States Army Ranger and Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Dave Grossman is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. Lt. Colonel Grossman is one of the world's leading experts on the psychology of killing and combat. He is the author of several books including On Killing and On Combat.

Lt. Colonel Grossman travels approximately 300 days a year, where in seminars and workshops he shares his insights on "killology" with military special forces and elite law enforcement personal from around the world.

In this installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey and Lt. Colonel Grossman discuss war and warfare, mass shootings, America's culture of violence, if armed teachers help to prevent school violence, how sleep deprivation is directly connected to suicides, police brutality, and questions about firearms and self-defense.

During this week's podcast, Chauncey also offers some sharing on the passing of Prince and the former WWE/WWF professional wrestler known as Chyna, how best to die, open marriages, adultery, and Beyonce's amazing "Lemonade" video music-essay.

In this week's installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey also talks about the death penalty and his eye-opening experience attending a panel on the subject at Chicago's Harold Washington Library. And not to be too dragged down by the morbid, this week's show concludes with a discussion of the heartwarming and life affirming marriage of 90-year-old former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford to his 40-year-old partner Matthew Charlton.

Ep. 87: Bill Clinton vs. 'Black Lives Matter' Apr 25, 2016
    Show notes

This special installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show features four different guests in three acts.

In the first part of this week's episode Rufus Farmer and Erica Mines, the two African-American activists who Bill Clinton lectured and finger pointed out during a recent rally in Philadelphia, share their on the ground experience(s). Rufus Farmer's and Erica Mines's account of the Philadelphia rally is quite different from how the mainstream corporate news media framed "Black Lives Matter" "protesting" against Bill Clinton and his role in the 1994 Crime Bill.

Bill the Lizard, friend of the podcast and Chauncey DeVega's heterosexual life partner, stops by to discuss the horrible Batman vs. Superman movie, the new Star Wars: Rogue One trailer, and the amazing second season of the animated series Star Wars: Rebels.

Adding to an already overflowing with goodness episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey's mom (aka "Momma DeVega") makes her second appearance on the podcast. Momma DeVega and Chauncey talk about the naming practices of the ghetto underclass, self-destructive behavior, Al Sharpton's severe weight loss, and why she does not watch TV shows like Maury Povich, Hoarders, or My 600lb Life. Chauncey's mother is in a grumpy mood and proceeds to make fun of how a Catholic priest wanted to seduce a young Chauncey DeVega. She also finds it especially entertaining when Chauncey reminds her of how, when he was a child, a perverted man in a public bathroom tried to pee on him.

During this episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey offers up some extended and heartfelt comments about colorism and self-hatred in the black community. And because he was feeling especially creative and inspired, at the end of this week's fun and special podcast, Chauncey also offers a poem about Bill O'Reilly's obsession with black people who have tattoos on their faces.

Ep. 86: Joseph Lowndes on Obama and "Post Racial" America Apr 15, 2016

During this installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey complains about having to pay taxes (and is angry at the global plutocrats who do not), and talks about Ted Cruz's college onanism habit, shares a story about his college roommate having sex with a strange woman who had a broken arm, and is excited about potentially receiving IRS tax exempt status for his new religion "porkism".

Dr. Johnson then sat down for a second time to share his experiences at the "Black Lives Matter" Michigan Avenue protests back in December 2015. During this newest installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey talks about the Wisconsin primaries, shares his thoughts on Wrestlemania 32, and is upset that he does not have the superpowers which white doctors in a new study from the University of Virginia believe that black folks are supposed to have. At the conclusion of this week's episode of the podcast, Chauncey offers his commentary on a recent fight at a Connecticut area Chinese buffet over crab legs and talks about why no respectable or sane person should ever eat at such an establishment.

Ep. 84: Paul O'Brien on Crime Novels and Professional Wrestling Mar 31, 2016
    Show notes

Paul is also an accomplished playwright and is working on a TV series and film project.

In this fun episode, Paul and Chauncey talk about their mutual love of professional wrestling, share some stories about growing up in the United States and Ireland, the craft of writing, the World Wrestling Entertainment's very problematic build up to Wrestlemania, and what it is like to work with Jim Ross on his autobiography. Paul is also an addiction therapist and counselor, and he shares his insights and experiences with helping people overcome the demons of drug and alcohol abuse.

In this installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey talks about the craven liars at CNN's GOP town hall meeting, complains about his failures in the kitchen, and offers some comments on the horrible Batman versus Superman movie.

Chauncey also cannot help but fantasize about one of Ted Cruz's alleged mistresses, the one and only Katrina Pierson, and how she seduced the Bible thumping Christian Dominionist Republican presidential primary candidate.

At the end of the podcast, Chauncey DeVega also makes his Wrestlemania 32 predictions.

    Show notes

He is a great raconteur. In this week's conversation, Andrew and Chauncey talk about writing, the New England "deflategate" scandal, corruption in professional sports, concussions, "biorhythms", as well as the origins of the 1950's and 1960's era racist slogan "free white and twenty-one".

During this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey offers a memorial for Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor), cuts a promo on black Donald Trump supporters, talks about meeting Edward James Olmos at Chicago's C2E2 event, complains about forced prayer and hand-holding, and offers up a solution to the challenges caused by ISIS and its plague of sexually frustrated and unemployed young men.

Ep. 82: Sex Wisdom With "The Perverted Negress" Mollena Williams Mar 17, 2016
    Show notes

Sex educator, BDSM practitioner, and kink expert Mollena Williams is the guest on this week's installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show. She is the author of the book Playing Well With Others. Mollena Williams also travels across the country (and world) where she gives seminars and lectures on human sexuality, being sex positive, and the pleasures of being open to one's deepest sexual desires. Mollena was recently featured in a New York Times story about her marriage to world renowned composer Georg Friedrich Haas. In this fun and adult conversation, Mollena Williams and Chauncey talk about her life path, questions of sexual freedom and happiness, kink, "race play", white supremacy, and happiness in a person's intimate life. Chauncey and Mollena also dialogue about modern day black chattel slavery sex "plantations", the boundaries and rules of playing with sex and race, concerns about dignity, and how control of one's body and pleasure is an integral (and little discussed) part of the Black Freedom Struggle. Mollena Williams is a funny, smart, and great conversation partner. During this week's grown folks episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey also talks about his post Chicago Trump media appearances, complains about how a picture of him online does not do justice to his real beauty, warns Hillary Clinton about how Donald Trump will attack her in the 2016 presidential election, and discusses the Hulk Hogan penis trial and the legendary members of American presidents.
