Some listeners report that Covid-19 policies seem to be stabilizing, so that workers have a better idea of what to expect day to day without regular changes. We'll see how folks are adjusting to the new year and new regulations. Be sure you're doing your best to keep yourself safe. If you're in the market for a new job, make sure you ask for a salary, vacation days and/or any other benefits. The so called labor shortage has so many companies across the world struggling to secure workers, this is the time to maximize your value and employee benefits. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 7th and final study session on Alice Sebold's LUCKY. Sebold is a White Woman and celebrated author of fiction. Incidentally, Sebold has penned other best selling books about rape. LUCKY was published in 1999 and reportedly details the trauma of Sebold being raped by a black male in Syracuse, New York. Anthony Broadwater steadfastly maintained his innocence. However, Sebold selected him as her attacker, and Broadwater was convicted. Apparently, he was punished for not admitting that he raped Sebold. Broadwater served 16 years for the crime, before being exonerated. Sebold offered a lame apology, and plans to transform LUCKY into a major motion picture have been canceled. Last week, we heard about the conclusion to the trial and the conviction of Mr. Broadwater. Sebold likely lied on the witness stand when asked how many black people she sees on a daily basis. She claimed to see more than 50 black males per day. She has not described that many black people in Lucky. After the conviction, Sebold goes on with her college life. She "dates" and has sex with White boys, focusing on "a patch of White flesh" to remind her that she's not being raped by a negro. Thinking of Anthony Broadwater in Attica comforted Sebold. Rampant underage White drinking and drug use continues, as Sebold describes hosting a wild party with strangers and serving "rotgut" punch. Some time after the unruly shindig, the house is burglarized and Sebold's roommate is raped. According to the book, the attacker has detailed knowledge about the house and the inhabitants. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Dr. Martin Kevorkian. A Professor of English at the University of Texas Austin, Dr. Kevorkian authored Color Monitors: The Blackface of Technology in America. The main premise of the text is that many of the narratives of White culture represent non-white people as threatening machines/non-humans. His research submits that films like The Terminator and Matrix franchises are sterling illustrations of this pattern - both depicting an apocalyptic White future because of unruly machines outnumbering and overpowering their White masters. The Matrix franchise recently offered a brand new installment, we'll see if the new film fits Dr. Kevorkian's thesis. We'll also review the 1988 classic, Die Hard. This film is more than thirty years old, but still referenced and broadcast ad nauseam. Dr. Kevorkian writes extensively about this film and it's depiction of black male characters. We'll ask why so many insist seeing a lone White man (Bruce Willis) kill and pillage for 90 minutes is widely considered a "Christmas" favorite. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #AntiBlackness Whites acknowledged the life and assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week. Mentions of COINTELPRO were rare, mostly drowned out by rhetoric of forgiveness and non-violence. President Biden recognized his first year in the White House - which has produced nil for the many black voters who were shamed into supporting him. The parents of Seven Bridges also marked time this week, calling attention to White Supremacy and black mental health three years after the death of their 10-year-old son. Seven's attempted-mother Tami Charles believes Racist bullying is why her child took his own life. And just in time for Black History Month, Howard Dudley was pardoned 30 years after being wrongfully convicted of raping his 9-year-old daughter. Some reports indicate the labor shortages have become so severe, some businesses are turning to robots to help get work done. The chaos with the Covid-19 virus continues to disrupt work environments. Some plans for employees return to the workplace have been scrapped. Some workers gleefully remained away from their work environment for the entire time. Stewart says that he was turning into a Racist at four years old. But the devotion and care of Ms. Thurman, a black female, rehabilitated him. Sebold offered a lame apology, and plans to transform LUCKY into a major motion picture have been canceled. During last week's session, Sebold's father suggested chopping off Broadwater's limbs. Neither parent seemed interested in joining Sebold for the trial. When Broadwater's father comes to court to support his son, Sebold seems stunned that this black thing has parents. While giving testimony, Sebold continually suggests that she's under attack from Broadwater and his White attorney. She identifies Broadwater as the person who raped her, but when asked to count the number of black people in attendance, Sebold regurgitates the same tired White defensiveness and sarcasm. “I was guilty for the race of my rapist, guilty for the lack of representation of them in the legal profession in the City of Syracuse, guilty that he was the only black man in the room." This week, we feature a cameo from the author of Push - later adapted to the 2009 abomination known as Precious. Ramona Lofton, known as Sapphire, wrote a poem very similar to Sebold's poem about castrating a black male. Lofton felt compelled to excoriate the non-white males of the Central Park Five rape case. These 5 males were ultimately exonerated and compensated with $40 million from the state of New York. We're eager to check in with non-white people around the world for the first time in 2022. We'll ask our folks in the U.K. about the ongoing row over Prime Minister Boris Johnson's disregard for Covid-19 protocols. We'll also discuss Prince Andrew being stropped of his royal titles and duties as a U.S. civil lawsuit against him begins. He's accused of sexually abusing children in concert with deceased sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein. We'll also discuss the passing of South Africa's attempted counter-racist Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who died the final week of 2021 at the age of 90. Covid-19 shows no signs of waning, as numerous regions in the U.S. report high numbers of positive tests. Simultaneously, the U.S. Supreme Court deemed President Biden's Covid-19 mandates for businesses are unlawful. Gus suspects this will encourage many Whites to further ignore Covid-19 protocols in the workplace and beyond. Across the pond, Prince Andrew was stripped of all royal titles as a U.S. court ruled that a civil trial against the Englishman can proceed.
