Ohio State vs. Indiana: 4 Matchups That Could Decide the Game Oct 15, 2026
    Show notes

Ohio State and Indiana are set for one of the biggest games of the Big Ten season, and this matchup could come down to a handful of individual battles.
On this episode of the Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr break down four matchups that could determine who wins in Bloomington, starting with Jeremiah Smith against Indiana cornerback Jamari Sharpe. They also look at the challenge Ohio State's corners will face against Charlie Becker and the Hoosiers' talented receiving corps.
Then the conversation moves into the trenches, where Ohio State's offensive tackles will have to deal with Indiana's pass rush, including Stephen Daley, while the Buckeyes' defensive ends look for opportunities against an Indiana offensive line that showed some vulnerability against Nebraska. With both teams featuring talented quarterbacks and dangerous receivers, the battle to keep Julian Sayin and Josh Hoover upright could be one of the biggest factors in the game.

Ohio State vs. Indiana: Who Does a Close Game Favor? Oct 14, 2026
    Show notes

Ohio State heads to Bloomington for a massive matchup against Indiana, and one of the biggest questions is what happens if this game goes down to the fourth quarter.
On this episode of the Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr discuss whether Indiana's experience in tight games gives the Hoosiers an advantage, or whether those close calls against Northwestern and Nebraska should actually be viewed as warning signs. Indiana has repeatedly found ways to respond when challenged, while Ohio State has spent most of the season avoiding late-game drama altogether.
The guys also look at how battle-tested Ohio State really is after road games against Texas and Iowa, whether Indiana has faced anything resembling the Buckeyes yet, and what each team has shown when it absolutely needs a score late in a game. Plus, Tom reveals an SP+ projection that suggests this could be about as close as a game can possibly get.

    Show notes

The Ohio State Buckeyes' 2026 defense has taken some notable steps forward over the past couple of games, as defensive coordinator Matt Patricia seems to be dialing in on what his unit is best at executing this season.
But several players on the defense have shown big improvement over that time as well. In this episode of Ohio State Scheme Insider, Michael Pettit of BuckeyeInsiders.com joins host Tom Orr to highlight a handful of defensive players who have upped their game, just as the team heads into its toughest stretch of the regular season.

BONUS: Why Has Ryan Day Been So Aggressive On Fourth Down? Oct 14, 2026
    Show notes

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 10-for-14 on fourth downs this season, which puts them in the top-10 nationally in fourth-down conversions and the top-15 nationally in fourth-down attempts.
They haven't been in many desperate situations this season, so why have they been so aggressive on fourth downs? In this special bonus episode, you'll hear the answer to that and several other very good questions directly from Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.

Ohio State vs. Indiana: Do the Hoosiers Have the Better Receivers? Oct 14, 2026

10 Things We Learned Watching Indiana's Win Over Nebraska Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

Ohio State heads into a massive showdown with Indiana, and on this episode of the Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr go back through Indiana’s 20-17 win over Nebraska to figure out what the game revealed about the Hoosiers.
How vulnerable is Indiana’s defense? Can Ohio State run the ball effectively? Is the Hoosiers’ offensive line a bigger concern than expected? And just how dangerous are Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh on the outside?
Tony and Tom also discuss Indiana’s struggles on third down, questions about the secondary, the importance of protecting Julian Sayin, and why this matchup may ultimately come down to the offensive lines.

Indiana managed just 65 rushing yards and went 1-for-10 on third down against Nebraska, while its defense showed enough vulnerability that both Tony and Tom came away believing Ohio State could have opportunities if it protects the quarterback and stays functional up front.
Meanwhile, Becker and Marsh give Indiana two high-end receiving threats, making pass protection and coverage on the perimeter two of the biggest areas to watch in the matchup with Ohio State.

BONUS: Why Did Ohio State Have So Much Success Against Maryland? Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated their game against Maryland far more on a down-to-down basis than the 45-16 final score indicated. So what did OSU do to control things so much?
In this special bonus episode, you'll get a view on that from the opposing sideline, as Maryland coach Mike Locksley shares his thoughts on how the Buckeyes were able to completely lock down the Terrapins' passing attack, hit a number of explosive plays on offense, and more.

Michigan Monday: Are the Wolverines Falling Apart? Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr take a deep dive into the current state of Michigan football and ask a pretty uncomfortable question for the Wolverines: is this just a transition year under Kyle Whittingham, or is the program starting to come apart?
They discuss Michigan’s culture shift, whether Whittingham’s approach is connecting with the roster, the struggles of Bryce Underwood, the offensive line and running game, the lack of production at tight end, and whether the Wolverines’ defense is really as good as some people think.
They also look ahead to the bigger-picture question: how long will Kyle Whittingham actually be at Michigan, and could the Wolverines eventually make a run at a younger coach like Bob Chesney?
