After weeks of speculation, Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now the Democratic Party's official presidential nominee, has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate. While this decision was met with enthusiastic support from prominent Democrats like former President Barack Obama, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and California Governor Gavin Newsom — many Republicans, on the other hand, said they were relieved by the choice after fearing Vice President Harris would choose someone like Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro or Arizona Senator Mark Kelly from key battleground states to shake up the race. So, with two presidential tickets in place, what happens now?

On Tuesday, the Kids Online Safety Act passed with flying colors — as lawmakers echoed support for the bill's aim to protect children from dangerous content online and keep social media companies accountable. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), the two lawmakers who introduced the bill, discuss their reaction to the bill passing with an overwhelming 91 to 3 vote despite deep divisions on Capitol Hill, how they believe the legislation could save lives, and their response to concerns that the bill targets First Amendment Rights.

The lawmakers also share their thoughts on this week's joint Senate hearing examining the security failures that led to the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

After Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was unable to answer many of Congress' tough questions during a House Oversight Committee hearing earlier this week, she ultimately resigned — but what more can be done to ensure the Secret Service, local law enforcement, and other federal agencies can prevent something like this from happening again in the future?
