    Falcons to finish out against Buccaneers Jan 04, 2023

    The Falcons stopped their four-game losing streak with a win over the Cardinals and are set to close out the 2022 season with a home game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons lost to the Bucs 21-15 on Oct. 9, when a sack by Grady Jarrett was called for unnecessary roughness. The Bucs, who won the NFC South title and are headed to the playoffs, lead the series 30-28.

    Ridder leads Falcons on game-winning drive Jan 02, 2023

    Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder, who was making his third NFL start, led the offense on a game-winning drive against the Cardinals on Sunday. With the game on the line, he got field goal kicker Younghoe Koo in position to make a 21-yard field goal at the buzzer for a 20-19 victory over the Cardinals. The Falcons improved to 6-10 on the season.

    Falcons, Cardinals playing for pride Dec 28, 2022

    The Falcons and Cardinals have been eliminated from the NFC playoffs. Both will be playing for pride in this late-season matchup of teams headed to the top 10 in the NFL draft. The Cardinals feature defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who announced that he will retire after the season. Kyler Murray suffered a knee injury and is out for the season. The Cardinals will play either Colt McCoy or Trace McSorley, who made his first NFL start last week in a 19-16 overtime loss to the Buccaneers.

    Falcons frozen out of the playoffs in Baltimore Dec 25, 2022

    The Ravens defeated the Falcons 17-9 to help eliminate them from the NFC playoff picture. The Saints and the Panthers won to stay in the race. Rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder made his second start and after a slow start he got the offense moving. The defense, led by Richie Grant and Rashaan Evans, held the Raves to a touchdown and three field goals. Also, linebacker Ade Ogundeji had a blocked field goal.

    Falcons to face Ravens in must win situation Dec 21, 2022

    The Falcons have dropped five of their past six games, but remain one game out of first place with three games to play in the NFC South. They need to win against a Baltimore team that is 9-5 and in contention for the AFC North title. The Ravens, who could be without quarterback Lamar Jackson, trail the Cincinnati Bengals (10-4) by one game. Baltimore is led by a strong rushing attack and a stout defense that features linebacker Roquan Smith, the former Georgia standout acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears.

    Falcons fumble away a chance to beat Saints Dec 19, 2022

    The Falcons were driving in for the potential game-wining score when rookie wide receiver Drake London had the ball knocked off of him by free safety Justin Evans. Saints cornerback Bradley Roby recovered the ball to end the Falcons threat in the debut by quarterback Desmond Ridder. The Falcons dropped to 5-9 on the season after the 21-18 loss in the Big Easy.

    NFC South title sitting there for the taking Nov 30, 2022

    The Atlanta Falcons remain a half-game back in the NFC South with five games to play. They've played nine one-score games and have won four of them. The Falcons (5-7) will host the Steelers (4-7) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Steelers, who feature rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, have won 2 of their past 3 games and are coming off a 24-17 win over Matt Ryan and the Indianapolis Colts. They also have wide receiver George Pickens, who played at Georgia, and defensive tackle Cam Heyward, who played at Whitfield Academy and Peachtree Ridge.

    Falcons toss late interception in loss to Commanders Nov 28, 2022
    Show notes

    With a chance to take the lead and post a dramatic win, Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota tossed an interception in the final minute of the game. Washington's Daron Payne tipped the ball up in the air and cornerback Kendall Fuller came down with the interception. The pass was intended for running back Cordarrelle Patterson. The Falcons dropped to 5-7 on the season, but remain just a half-game out of first place in the NFC South.
