EP 216: Uncovering IVF with Josh Wood of Them Before Us May 06, 2026

Show notes

Is there any ethical way to do IVF? More importantly, where does it lead? Regardless of whether you have the answer to those questions, today’s conversation is a compelling one.

Josh Wood, Executive Director of Them Before Us, joins Rita to expand on the topic of IVF. What is it opening the door to in the future? When you’re born, do you belong somewhere? What legislation/bills are being introduced? Does biology matter? What does it mean to be human? Is IVF actually pro-life?

Infertility rates are on the rise and it’s likely you or someone you know has been touched by it. This is a sensitive but necessary conversation. Josh and Rita cover all the above questions and more in the hopes of equipping you with the information and confidence to have this discussion with the people in your life.

EP 215: Psychedelics are going mainstream - what you need to know with Ashley Lande Apr 29, 2026

Show notes

On April 18, 2026, President Trump signed an executive order to accelerate research and access to psychedelic drugs like MDMA, ibogaine, psilocybin for mental illness. Today we revisit an interview with Ashley Lande from February 2025 on the subject.

Are psychedelics the cure for PTSD & key to mental health? Did you know that there are more people using psychedelics now than in the 60’s?

Psychedelics have quietly entered the chat and today’s conversation, like so many, will encourage you to give thought to the potential dangers of something that’s being sold to us as another possible ‘cure.’

Listen as Ashley Lande, author of The Thing That Would Make Everything Okay Forever, shares her history with psychedelics and how her use of them actually ended up drawing her to Christ.

EP 214: Deescalating the Chaos - 4 key reasons information feels confusing Apr 22, 2026

Show notes

“Anything that I believe that is true is because of His grace towards me. It’s not because of me and how good I am.” - Rita Rogers

Titus 3 reminds us that our hope is found in Jesus. Not in any political leader, online commentator, or the loudest voice. We’re not called or equipped to know everything and we should be weary of anyone lacking the humility to admit the same.

Christian, stay consistent. Regardless of whether it’s Biden or Trump, Michael Knowles or Tucker Carlson… we need to be holding people accountable and sharing truth.

EP 213: Media Lies have Consequences - no one will believe you when you do tell the truth. Apr 15, 2026

Show notes

Once again, the world (online and off) is a mess. Thankfully, especially as Christian’s, we have a good God who has given us the tools to sort through the mess.

In today’s episode Rita begins by reading the Aesop Fable of The Boy Who Cried Wolf as a reminder that lying comes with consequences and shares some examples of online commentators who are either willfully or ignorantly spreading lies in order to justify, defend, and/or further their position.

“Reckless speech pierces like a sword, while the tongue of the wise brings healing.” - Proverbs 12:18

In a world where sharing truth is becoming the exception rather than the standard…how are the sources you’re choosing to consume information from measuring up to scripture?

EP 212: The Secret to Staying Close to Your Adult Kids with Heather Mills-Schwarzen Apr 08, 2026

Show notes

Heather Mills Schwarzen of To Sow A Seed is a mom of 10 children (ages 5 to 28yrs), wife of 39yrs, homeschooler, and home-based missionary.

Heather has an abundance of life experience in parent and adult children relationships, which is probably why she doesn’t shy away from sharing her very difficult relationship with her own mother and even the mistakes and apologies she’s made in parenting her own children.

The world we’re parenting in today has significantly changed - going no contact with a parent or being estranged from a family member seems to be all too common - but scripture, Jesus, and our responsibilities haven’t changed.

Heather reminds us that Gods heart is always for reconciliation. He’s working on us and through us until the very end.

EP 211: Classical Ideals: why beauty, good art & children’s literature matter with Megha Lillywhite Apr 01, 2026

Show notes

Megha Lillywhite, scientist turned children’s book illustrator and writer, sits down with Rita for a short but very rich episode.

Even if you haven’t experienced it for yourself, you’ve likely felt or at least seen the shift from the modern to old, sterile to ‘vintage’ that is happening. Megha and Rita discuss how parents can model what they want for their children - reading books, appreciating nature, creating art - training ourselves right along with them.

The importance of beauty, be it a children’s book or our environment, really does matter.

EP 210: American Spirt, Christian Faith & the power of never telling a lie Mar 18, 2026

Show notes

When you look at the current events: the Epstein Files, war with Iran, antisemitism, etc., the world can feel pretty confusing. As a Christian, with an eternal perspective, we know why the world feels shaky but even amongst believers, there is debate.

Rita reads a few excerpts from C.S. Lewis’, Mere Christianity and draws parallels between historical text and timeless literature and the confusion in the world right now.

As much as the government and media would like us to believe the answer is a simple one, just pick a side…it feels like people are ready to have deeper, more complicated conversations. Maybe, as C.S. Lewis said:

"If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.”

EP 207: Immigrating to America, Legally with Elizabeth Liu + being unshakable in chaotic times Feb 25, 2026

Show notes

Are immigration laws hurting U.S. citizens? With the issue of Immigration being front and center recently, Rita welcomes Elizabeth Liu back to the podcast.

Beginning with Covid and lockdowns in China in 2022, to the long and cumbersome process of getting their whole family to the United States, legally, in 2026…Elizabeth shares insight into the difficulties they face and the benefits they forfeit in trying to do things the ‘right’ way.

Whether it be the Epstein files, A.I., aliens, or immigration…be firm in your foundation. Be in the word, not of this world.

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may discern what is good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
