The Sporting KC players are back together this week for unofficial preseason and we got to hear from them for the first time this year. Peter Vermes doesn't sound overly optimistic that a we'll see a new signing on the front line before the regular season begins. But Gianluca Busio sounds ready to step up and THAT dude for SKC. We also talk about all the new kits being released around Major League Soccer. Why are they all so plain? Is Sporting KC waiting to be the grand finale? We'll have the club's designer on the show next week to talk about his team's newest creation.

The Thin Front Line - Shades of Blue Feb 18, 2021

Shades of Blue: Is Vermes Frustrated? Jan 23, 2021

We kick off Season Four of the Shades of Blue Soccer Show with pressing topics like how to pronounce the word wash. Is there an 'r' in there somewhere? Is our nation's capitol in 'Warshington D.C'? Thad is always full of surprises.

It's a time for new beginnings in this world! Sporting Kansas City signed three new Homegrown Players and picked up two more in the MLS (not so) SuperDraft. But head coach Peter Vermes recently held a press conference and the updates weren't quite as optimistic as fans would have hoped at this point in the offseason.

Are Gerso Fernandes & Erik Hurtado gone? Will a deal get done with Felipe Gutierrez? PV just simply didn't inspire the same confidence we are used to hearing. Is he growing frustrated with his search to add players to the roster?

Busio Business - Shades of Blue Dec 18, 2020

Shades of Blue is back for the first offseason podcast and there is already plenty to talk about. A complete season wrap-up is coming soon, but first we talk rumors and renegotiations that are on the minds of Sporting Kansas City fans.

FC Barcelona have joined Bayern Munich, among other clubs, with interest in youngster Gianluca Busio. What league around the world best suits the 18-year-old? How much money is he actually worth? Is it possible he leaves for free like Erik Palmer-Brown? So many questions.

Sporting KC declined the option of their #10 Felipe Gutierrez, but he isn't gone just yet. The two sides are renegotiating the contract and we discuss the likelihood the Chilean will return for the 2021 season. Roger Espinoza is also in the same situation, although his contract had expired. This show is pretty confident a deal with get done for Roger, but what would the team look like without these two?

In other earth shattering news, the MLS Re-Entry draft took place and Sporting picked up a goalkeeper after declining the options of Eric Dick & Richard Sanchez.

One Player Must Go - Shades of Blue Dec 08, 2020

The ridiculous 2020 season has come to an end for Sporting Kansas City. But the SOB crew is here to help you work through those confusing feelings during this troubling time. There are plenty of positives we can choose to focus on and be hopeful for seasons to come.

Women's soccer is returning to KC! A show of their own is coming soon, but we briefly discuss the good news for the local soccer community.

The loss to Minnesota United FC became almost painful to watch. So we won't dwell on it, but there are points to discuss. The absence of Alan Pulido is on the minds of most SKC fans, the header from Roberto Puncec may have actually crossed the line but went mostly unchallenged, and Kansas City was undoubtedly missing the veteran experience of Matt Besler and Graham Zusi.

Peter Vermes and Co. need to make decisions on 15 players. Most of those decisions have already been made, but we won't hear official word just yet. That is a big number, but many fans would like to see turnover anyway. We look around at some of the options and players out of contract and decide who is on the chopping block.

Tough choices must be made. Who do you get rid of? Are you sticking with Daniel Salloi? Is it really time to move on from Matt Besler? Is Gerso worth his large salary?

Stay tuned as more podcasts are coming on this subject. News should not be too far away.

Jimmy Nielsen - Shades of Blue Nov 26, 2020

Fresh off of a legendary performance from one Sporting Kansas City keeper, another legendary shot-stopper joined the show this week. Jimmy Nieslen and the regular SOB crew play a new game, talk about the MLS Playoffs, and predict what is to come for SKC!

Thad came up with some SKC trivia for everyone in the aptly named Who's That Player?. The White Puma, unsurprisingly, was the winner. By far.

It's been such a wild season and it was great to hear about it from Jimmy's perspective has a player and coach. He's got some high praise for the players as well as the coaching staff for grinding through it. Everyone is feeling good about SKC chances this playoff run. The only question is who they'll host December 12th for the MLS Cup.

First - Shades of Blue Nov 12, 2020

Cody, Robert, and Thad were back at it again on Wednesday night to talk about Sporting Kansas City finishing on top of the Western Conference in what was the most strange season in league history.

Call it "by default" if you want, we're happy about first place. Am I supposed to feel sorry for Seattle Sounders fans? As Thad points out, even if not for points-per-game, SKC would have come out on top.

Noted rumor site, MLSSoccer.com, is just now reporting that Gadi Kinda's loan has been made permanent. The Blue Testament reported about this back in August. Is he permanent..... again? Or is MLSSoccer.com just slow?

The nominees for the end of the season awards in MLS are out. Peter Vermes is a notable absence from the Coach of the Year list. The 11th place to 1st place turnaround is the biggest in league history, but that isn't enough apparently.

Alan Pulido was the lone Sporting KC player on

Stuck In Limbo - Shades of Blue Nov 06, 2020

2020 is really kicking into high gear as we close it out. The election & political unrest loom. Alan Pulido is (rumored to be) injured again. And another Sporting Kansas City player has tested positive for COVID-19 just as an already confusing season is coming to a nail baiting close.

Cody, Robert, & Thad gather around their computers to try and make sense of everything. We don't, but we try.

Just when SKC was starting to look like an MLS Cup contender, Pulido is apparently injured again. Can they stay alive in the playoff race without him? Is Erik Hurtado still the preferred backup? Thad has some conspiracy theories for you on this one.

The team announced on Thursday that another first team Sporting KC player has tested positive for COVID-19. What does this mean, exactly? If SKC don't play another game, then they cannot be passed on PPG and would claim the Western Conference as their own. Did someone take one for the team?

And congrats to Wilson Harris on being named USL Young Player of the Year!

Points Per Game - Shades of Blue Oct 30, 2020

Major League Soccer has officially made points-per-game the determining factor for the playoffs this season. Peter Vermes wasn't happy in Friday's press conference, but what other option do they have? Things have changed a bit now, especially the playoff math. Cody & Thad look at what it will take for Sporting Kansas City to secure a home playoff game (and a buy) and set themselves up for a run at MLS Cup in this absurd, ridiculous, & unprecedented season. Minnesota United FC is coming to town on Sunday fresh off two straight wins, but SKC have a chance to lock down the spot that'll bring that sweet playoff atmosphere back to Children's Mercy Park.

$10 Million Better - Shades of Blue Oct 25, 2020

For far too long, matches like Sporting Kansas City's win over the Rapids would have ended differently. They would dominate opponents while the breakthrough goal would either take too long, or never come at all. But then the club spent $10 million on a lethal striker named Alan Pulido. And all of a sudden the team got way better.

It's almost like they are TEN MILLION DOLLARS better!

We saw goals from four different players in an all-around great performance last night vs the Colorado Rapids. Andreu Fontas came in clutch as a late replacement and not only helped secure the shutout, but got rewarded with a goal of his own. Gerso Fernandes reminded everyone what the #GerShow really is with an absolutely top class goal - and celebration to follow.

With the season ending surgery for Graham Zusi, there is really only one option left at right back. Jaylin Lindsey has been somewhat inconsistent this season, but looked very strong last night. If he continues to play like that with the rest of the back line, Sporting will be a contender for MLS Cup.

No Complaining - Shades of Blue Oct 23, 2020

Daniel Sperry joins Cody & Thad to be very mature and professional about Sporting Kansas City's last two incredibly frustrating matches. Now is not the time to focus on poor referring, bad luck, and Graham Zusi's season ending surgery. Nor how it felt like getting punched in the face. Nor where SKC could be in the Western Conference standings right now.

    We would never.

In stead, we look ahead to the Colorado Rapids match at 7:30pm on Saturday night at Children's Mercy Park. Alan Pulido is back which means someone has to be the odd man out. Can you keep Gianluca Busio out of the lineup? Where does he play? Is Roger Espinoza best used off the bench.. or perhaps as an outside back? Gerso Fernandes has been creating chances like crazy. And don't forget about Khiry Shelton!

    Who do you sit?

Annoying Things About Soccer - Shades of Blue Oct 16, 2020

Sporting Kansas City got robbed of a goal, and a point, against FC Dallas on Wednesday night. The babying of keepers is a big pet peeve in the sport of soccer and Cody, Robert, & Thad dive into all the other annoyances in soccer. What bothers you? Is it keepers screaming "AWAY"? Is it the arbitrary addition of stoppage time?

There is also plenty of time to hate on Dallas, who may now be the focal point of hatred from SKC Nation this year.

As always we have a comprehensive and analytical preview of the upcoming match. What to do with the lineup after that heavy squad rotation midweek?

Cancel Colorado - Shades of Blue Oct 13, 2020

The games are coming quickly but we're cranking out new episodes as fast as we can! Cody, Robert, & Thad were back at it again on Monday night talking all things Sporting Kansas City and MLS.

A break is coming however, as the Colorado Rapids match on October 21st has been postponed with no rescheduled date in sight. How exactly will MLS handle this?

Nine points from the last three matches with a depleted lineup is nothing to scoff at. More importantly, we are starting to see some consistency on the backline as Winston Reid & Roberto Puncec seemed to have locked down the centerback positions, and Amadou Dia looks sharp at left back.

Erik Hurtado was in top form in the 2-1 win over Nashville SC. But it was again off the bench. Has he done enough to earn a spot in the Starting XI with Alan Pulido on national team duty with Mexico?

We also take a look at any lineup questions heading into (another) the match with FC Dallas on Wednesday.

Post Presser Shades of Blue Oct 09, 2020

Is a centerback finally grabbing hold of the reigns on the backline? Winston Reid has turned in a couple strong performances in a row, including heading home a match winner. We give ourselves a pat on the back for supporting him, of course.

Daniel Salloi is still really struggling. Is it possible the situation is worse than we thought?

Peter Vermes spoke to the media ahead of Sunday's match against Nashville SC and gave an update on Graham Zusi's injury. Gianluca Bio also joined in as he's now one of the team's star players. Thad asked him his thoughts on his EA Sports FIFA rating.

Also the club has announced a trade has been made, but has not shared many details.

On Fire - Shades of Blue Oct 06, 2020

The win over the Houston Dynamo was reminiscent of pre-pandemic Sporting Kansas City. When it looked like this team were going to be unstoppable and win all the trophies. Alan Pulido made his glorious return with two fantastic goals and SKC is back on track, right?!

Wrong. Just when you think something good is coming, the universe reminds you it is the year 2020.

But it is a great thing for Pulido to be back representing Mexico with El Tri. It's a good look for Major League Soccer, and Sporting KC in particular.

There's no time to daydream about his quality as the Chicago Fire are coming to Children's Mercy Park for a showdown on Wednesday night, and the striker won't be there. Gadi Kinda is available after a yellow card suspension which means there will be an odd man out in the midfield. Is Roger Espinoza 100%? You have to keep Gianluca Busio's hot hand in the Starting XI, right?

    Reunion Show - Shades of Blue` Oct 02, 2020

Ask and you shall receive! Aly Trost (now) from 810 Sports Radio joins us for an episode to reunite the original Shades of Blue crew!

It strangely doesn't seem like much has changed as the conversations were quite similar to a couple years ago. Who should play winger? Why do they keep dominating games without getting the win? What is Khiry Shelton's best position?

Sporting Kansas City has VERY rough stretch coming up with NINE games over a 30 day period. Squad rotation seems like a must, but Peter Vermes. We try to figure out how many games Graham Zusi will play.

    Nine. It'll be nine.

Question & The Answer: Shades of Blue Sep 30, 2020

The show was joined by long-time SKC player and current TV Color Analyst, Jake Peterson, to talk about the current state of Sporting Kansas City and hear some fun stories from his playing days.

Being such a recent former player, it was really great to get Peterson's perspective on the struggles the team is having, as well as the impact that this pandemic has had on the MLS season. What centerback pairing would he go with? Who has underperformed this year?

We ask the questions and Jake always has - wait for it - THE ANSWER.

But the real fun starts when he talks about his exploits as a player. One of the best almost-fighter's the club has seen in years was known to get into tussles on the training ground. But did he really fight a trialist in front of Victory Project kids? There are plenty of stories including how he only ever saw one red card in his career, and it came while he was chilling on the bench.

Busio or Ilie? - Shades of Blue Sep 25, 2020

It's a darker shade of blue this week with Sporting Kansas City reeling after a 2-1 loss to Orlando City on Wednesday. But we try to find some lighter shades to brighten things up for you.

It doesn't feel right to ask the question.

Several months ago this would have been blasphemy.

    How dare we?

But after seeing Ilie Sanchez's return to the field in Gianluca Busio's absence, would you prefer to have the youngster starting for you at #6?

Peter Vermes hinted that Matt Besler might have picked up an injury, but there was more shuffling in the back line on Wednesday. We try to definitively come up with Sporting KC's best center back pairing.

    ... I said, "try".

We also discuss Alan Pulido's return and his willingness to track back and help facilitate play. Is too much of a good thing, a bad thing?

A Familiar Foe - Shades of Blue Sep 18, 2020

We've got a new podcast fresh off a Peter Vermes press conference ahead of SKC's Saturday matinee against FC Dallas! Jimmy Mack joins Cody & Thad to get you ready for another important match.

It took a few questions on the subject, but Vermes divulged more information on Alan Pulido's absence the last three matches. The striker is back to training with the team and is potentially available for selection on Saturday. Vermes continued to explain that Roger Espinoza is probably the only player he would list as "questionable".

Might we see the return of Ilie? Or did Busio swoop his spot?

Sporting Kansas City have played this team before, you might remember. It was yesterday, I think. Anyway we discuss the previous meetings with Dallas and what to expect this time around.

Pulido's "Knock" - Shades of Blue Soccer Show Sep 16, 2020

After getting a big 1-0 win over Minnesota, Sporting Kansas City are back on top of the Western Conference. But were they really good or was Minnesota United really bad? Several players like Graham Zusi and Johnny Russell redeemed themselves with good performances, youngsters Gianluca Busio & Felipe Hernandez looked sharp, and the Gadi-Gerso combination is going to be fun to watch.

The long-awaited, mythical DP Striker Alan Pulido has missed three games in a row. But the only thing we've heard is he suffered a knock and has been day-to-day all of September. COVID has change a few league protocols and if Peter Vermes isn't forced to give away intel on his players, why in the world would he?

MLS transfer rumors are flying and SKC have been linked with a couple different players. Will they make a move before the window closes on October 29?

Is Busio Stealing Ilie's Spot? - Shades of Blue Soccer Show Sep 10, 2020

We've got a new podcast for you this week, with some upgraded audio, in which we cover Sporting Kansas City's loss to the Houston Dynamo, have a debate about Ilie and Busio that will make you squirm, give an explanation about Alan Pulido, and preview this weekend's match against Minnesota United FC.

The entire SKC defense has been beaten several times this year by one pass. What is different this year and why do there seem to be so many holes?

Thad Bell, attack him on Twitter @TheBackpost, says he's starting Gianluca Busio over the beloved Ilie Sanchez. How could this be? Help us prove him wrong, please.

Alan Pulido and his wife jetted off to Chicago and, to the surprise of nobody, the internet panicked. But we've got a reasonable explanation for everything to calm you down a bit.

A touchy subject for many fans is Ike Opara. It's common to joke about the egregious mistake in letting him go among Sporting faithful. But Ike is once again hurt and not on the field.

Also... a puppy made it ALMOST the entire podcast without messing things up. But she just had to ruin the sign off.

Getting Defensive - Shades of Blue Soccer Show Aug 29, 2020

    BACK AT IT AGAIN!

MLS regular season is back, Sporting Kansas City is back, and your favorite SOB is back.

However, Tuesday's 5-2 loss against the Houston Dynamo in the anticipated return to Children's Mercy Park was a big disappointment. Peter Vermes has been throwing anyone and everyone out there on the back line, and nothing seems to be clicking just yet.

Who has been the best centerback? The worst? Is there a best pairing yet? Is Matt Besler going to struggle to find the field this year? There are just so many questions right now, and that is just about centerbacks.

We discuss Graham Zusi at length and get an update on Luis Martins. Is there even a backup right back at the moment? Jaylin Lindsey looked pretty bad, but nobody is too worried about him.

It's not all bad, though. SKC still sit on top of the Western Conference, I'll have you know. We also look at the other positives the team has going right now.

One And OH!: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Mar 06, 2020

The trio talks about Sporting Kansas City's first win of 2020 including great showings from Luis Martins, Gadi Kinda, & Alan Pulido. Peter Vermes deployed Khiry Shelton on the right wing, pushing Johnny Russell to the left. While Russell may have been hard to notice at times, it sounds like this was a tactical choice for the specific matchup with the Houston Dynamo. You may see Johnny on the right very soon. Graham Zusi looked horrendous on the goal, but is he really that bad? There were also some interesting tidbits from the training ground ahead of Media Day.

Season Preview: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Feb 26, 2020

I may not have been able to get my fellow podcasters excited, but Matchday 1 for Sporting Kansas City is almost here! The regular crew was joined by Daniel Sperry of MLSSoccer.com & The Last Word to preview the season in the last show before real life soccer is back.

The starting lineup, just as Peter Vermes would like, is not exactly known yet. Could Khiry Shelton really be starting on the right wing? Who is the odd man out in the midfield whenever Felipe Gutierrez returns? And who is the starting right back? Plus there are even more questions when it comes to the depth chart and squad rotation.

We love a good meaningless prediction, and this show is full of them! We set the Over/Under for goals scored this season, as well as goals conceded, at 50.5. There are some important questions -as well as wildly unimportant ones - that must be asked. This show does that for you.

We can't answer them, but hey we ask them.

Post Preseason Pod: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Feb 24, 2020

The 2020 preseason has wrapped for Sporting Kansas City and although they didn't light the world on fire, there were some positives to takeaway. Cody, Thad, and Robert got together to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly.

It is an important time to avoid overreacting to these 'scrimmages'. Especially if you are holding out hope for a Daniel Salloi recovery and Alan Pulido becoming the top striker in Major League Soccer. The two of them had some moments to make you wonder, but how much stock can you really put into preseason performance? Nobody looked particularly sharp but this is precisely the time to get those things worked out.

Roberto Puncec appears to have secured his spot as the starting CB over Botond Barath, and will pair with Matt Besler. Luis Martins also looked primed and ready for the season. Khiry "Kirby" Shelton started on the wing the entire preseason and played pretty well, but will he really be the starter over Gerso Fernandes and push Johnny Russell to the left flank?

Kit Design 101: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Feb 21, 2020

We're inching closer to the new season! The kits are released, the launch party was a success, and Sporting Kansas City is wrapping up the preseason. So we were joined by Chad Reynolds, Creative Director of Sporting Kansas City to get the inside scoop on the team.

The Swiss Dots of the new secondary kit have been received quite well by SKC fans and MLS fans alike. That is, of course, after an initial dislike of leaked images. It's so easy to look at a design and say, "Why didn't you do this? Or, "It should have some of that on it." But the years' long process of kit design is a very interesting and often times frustrating job.

Chad discusses the intricacies of the new kit as well as his favorite & least favorite ones since he joined the team all the way back in 2006.

Where is the napkin containing the original sketch of the "State Line"? When will you bring back the argyle? Why did you design a jersey that looks like it has been run over by a truck? Chad. From KC is anything but shy and we cover it all in this three-part episode.

Very Kinda: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Jan 25, 2020

Peter Vermes has added another piece to his midfield ahead of the 2020 season with the arrival of Gadi Kinda. In this episode Cody, Robert, and Thad cover all your questions about the 25-year-old out of Beitar Jerusalem.

As it often goes, there has been some confusion around the terms of the deal. Is Kinda here on loan or is it just a straight transfer? His agent and former coach have referred to the deal as a transfer, while Sporting Kansas City says it is a loan. We also talk about the money and whether he is a Designated Player or not. But how important are those labels anymore anyway?

Vermes sees Kinda as a box-to-box, #8 midfielder who possesses the strict defensive standards he requires from his players, while being dangerous going forward as well. So where will he play? Will he fight Roger Espinoza for playing time? Robert wonders what this means for the plethora of young talent with SKC and if it will be another year where the likes of Felipe Hernandez & Gianluca Busio aren't able to get enough first team minutes.

The move gives Vermes options on all lines now. They can be adaptable as is required by the league now. We look at different ways Kinda can be used and who he might play with.

The question that will always be asked.... is he worth the money? The league has changed and what it takes to get a younger player with potential costs a pretty penny.

SKCII have also added a key piece. Kaveh Rad featured heavily last year and now the 18-year-old academy kid got a professional contract. Thad explains that his path could set the example needed to keep prospects from going to play in the NCAA.

The White Puma: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Jan 10, 2020

A new year and a new season of the Shades of Blue Soccer Show! That's right, they have yet to kick us out of the studio. And we are starting this year off with a bang as club legend Jimmy Nielsen joins Cody, Robert, and Thad for a very long show.

The White Puma was rather candied as he spoke about his youth career all the way up to his coaching career. He and his family have come back to KC after a brief stint as the head coach of Hartford Athletic, where he was far from happy. He shared some wonderfully kind words about Kansas City that will warm the heart of any native. The Cauldron, of course, gave him fond memories that we all enjoyed revisiting.

For the league and club's 25th anniversary season, we will be having on several former players and staff all season long to take a look back through the years. We asked Nielsen his thoughts on the progression of Sporting Kansas City and Major League Soccer as a whole. He had some hilarious stories to tell about shenanigans of old teammates like Casey Keller, Kei Kamara, and even an Aurélien Collin hangover at training. We also hit him with rapid fire questions like his most hated MLS player, best friend, funniest teammate, and worst game he can remember. His coaching mind was also put to the test in naming his Sporting KC All-Decade team.

Hear him describe the fateful 2013 MLS Cup Final in which he played 120 minutes then won in PK's with a broken rib. "I was in pain. I couldn't get out of bed. I could not sit on the toilet. But I didn't want to miss that one," the puma explains. "I took injections and tried everything. I had a shot in my ass, I had shots directly into my ribs, everything!"

This man is an absolute legend. Yet somehow not an official Sporting Legend. What exactly are they waiting for?

Sit back, relax, and enjoy a deep dive into the good ol' days!

Christmas Come Early: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Dec 12, 2019

Wednesday was a historic day as Sporting Kansas City announced the long-awaited singing of a Designated Player striker. We talk about the money and what it means to the club, we talk about Alan Pulido as a player, and then after the break we discuss his expectations and what the new Starting XI looks like. Jimmy Mack joined the show for the first time along with Thad and Cody.

Whether the price was $9.5 million or closer to $6 million, Peter Vermes held to his word about jumping a couple tiers into MLS 3.0. He spoke of "plateau negotiating" in the media conference call on Thursday. Listen to a clip of what he describes as an interesting situation in spending more money.

Liga MX strikers have a fantastic track record of translating their success in Major League Soccer. Sporting KC appear to have finally found that proven scorer who will simply put away the chances he's given, something they've missed all the way back to the days of Dom Dwyer.

Can the 28-year-old Mexico international possibly live up to the expectations that come with a deal of this size? What exactly does a success look like in year one? Does it have more to do with his personal goal/assist tally, or the success of the team in 2020?

We also look at the current roster and how he will fit in next to Johnny Russell and Felipe Gutierrez, an exciting attacking trio. Might Vermes deploy Pulido alongside a second striker like Khiry "Kirby" Shelton?

Injection of Capital: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Dec 04, 2019

Plenty to talk about this week as Major League Soccer announced the 2020 conference alignment on Tuesday, the KC Comets are in action, and the potential for Peter Vermes to spend money at a new level.

David Beckham's Miami will enter the Eastern Conference and Nashville will play in the Western Conference which makes the two even at 13 teams a piece. However, this means the schedule is now unbalanced and each team will no longer play every other team in the league over the course of a season. What might this mean for the Supporters' Shield? How long will it remain like this? And where will Sporting Kansas City end up when they finally reach 30 teams?

The re-entry draft also continued this week with Juan Agudelo & Saad Abdul-Salaam being selected. Our thoughts & prayers go out to SAS in his new venture with Cincinnati FC.

We also spend some time in the Kansas City Comets and Thad will let you know what they have been up to.

Vermes recently had a press conference in which he spoke a lot about new capital and SKC jumping up a level or two with their spending. It has been met with a lot of cynicism from Sporting KC faithful who think they've heard this before. But this rhetoric is is absolutely different than we have seen in years past. Thatwillingness has been on display already as the team has been linked with Alan Pulido & Lucas Cavallini, two Liga MX strikers, who both have a transfer fee much higher than anything SKC has touched before. But can they actually land one of these players?

Giving Thanks: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Nov 26, 2019

The podcast crew was finally back at it again for another episode on Thanksgiving week. It has been a while so everyone was a bit rusty and things got weird, but we cover everything happening in the SKC-verse right now. The expansion draft is done and the roster moves have been announced. We share what we like and of course what we didn't like, for the team as well as for our hearts. Peter Vermes can now focus on filling in any holes he sees on the roster and we'll tell you what we would like to see.

You'll get a full rundown of all the players who are out but Jimmy Medranda is the one that hurts us the most. But we talk about how and why this happened so we can begin the stages of grieving. Seth Sinovic is another fan favorite that sparks a debate about Sporting Legends that brings in the departure of Benny Feilhaber as well.

We cover the Adrian Zendejas trade and the current keeper situation. Although Dick jokes are very difficult to avoid.

Is there anyone you are happy to see gone? The frustrating Krisztian Nemeth and his salary sure are a weight off SKC shoulders.

After the break we look at the remaining players currently on the roster and anyone we are surprised to see. Botond Barath survived the expansion draft and Andreu Fontas is back for another year, but should we be surprised?

With the Expansion Draft complete and roster moves announced, we can look ahead at what Sporting Kansas City needs on the roster for the 2020 campaign. The long-standing, all-to-obvious, mythical DP striker is the first topic of discussion. We take a long look at the rumors about Candadian international Lucas Cavallini. Daniel loves the idea of this and he will get you excited about this potential acquisition.

What other holes need filled on this roster? Bob wants to see some speed/athleticism on the back line. We talk about the midfield and try to decide if Daniel Salloi and Gerso Fernandes are enough on the left wing to be successful.

This was a long podcast but you can't have a show about Major League Soccer and not talk about the dumpster fire that is the Chicago Fire FC rebrand.

Clockwork: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Sep 27, 2019

You just knew it was going to happen right?

Sporting Kansas City was officially eliminated from playoff contention after letting Minnesota United come from behind to win 2-1 on Wednesday night. That match, and the loss to the Colorado Rapids, were both done in the same fashion. SKC fans saw an early lead and were bracing for a collapse that we all knew was coming.

Cody, Robert, and Thad were in the studio and actually in pretty good spirits. Missing the playoffs was a forgone conclusion for a while and now that it's official, the pressure is off. A weight has been lifted! But we looked back at the last two losses and talked about Daniel Salloi's struggles, the ratio of Gerso Fernandes' proximity to goal vs the likelihood he will score, and Gianluca Busio's performance. You'll also get a little bit of Ultimate Frisbee talk as a bonus.

After the break we took some time to touch on the situation with the South Stand Supporters Club and the SKC front office. The South Stand has been asked to move to the Cauldron, which does not make a whole lot of sense to us.

We end the show by talking about this weekend's match with the Portland Timbers. Peter Vermes' team doesn't have anything to play for, other than being a spoiler, so he can have some fun with the lineup now. Do you play the kids? Is there any point in putting Krisztian Nemeth on the field? Does Graham Smith get another chance this season?

A Safe Space: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Sep 18, 2019

We here at The Blue Testament understand your pain and want to provide a safe space to express yourself and work through emotions during this difficult time. Cody, Robert, & Thad got in the studio to share what is on their minds after Sporting Kansas City were destroyed by the Galaxy, eliminating (nearly) all hope of making the playoffs. We look for other, more positive soccer topics to discuss, including the good things going on from the Swope Park Rangers. And we finish by discussing this weekend's match vs the Colorado Rapids.

Just lay down on our couch and let us know how that 7-2 beating from the Los Angeles Galaxy makes you feel. We aren't used to this sort of thing as Sporting KC fans. As Thad points out, this is the first time as SKC they haven't made the playoffs, the first time with a full season of Vermes, and first time in Children's Mercy Park as well! We're lucky to have had the last decade of quality soccer. But we share everything on our minds and what has everyone upset.

After the break we checked in with the USWNT, the USMNT, and Swope Park for better things to discuss. Felipe Hernandez is a new homegrown signing from the academy that the guys are excited about.

With the pressure mostly gone, the lineup discussion is more interesting. Do you play the kids? Do you fight for that 3% chance to make the post season? The fan poll has returned some interesting results, especially at striker.

Leapfrog: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Sep 12, 2019

We're all feeling things we have never felt with Sporting Kansas City on the brink of elimination before the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. Cody and Robert sit down for some group therapy, or a podcast, rather. Certain players will have a lot to prove before the offseason arrives, but first we look at this weekend's match-up against Zlatan and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The podcast was recorded just before the Major League Soccer Wednesday night matches, but SKC is focusing on four teams. RSL, DAL, POR, and LAG are technically within striking distance and SKC needs at least two of them to falter. Which two teams give us the best chance to make a miraculous run to the post season?

Peter Vermes has a lot of decisions to make this off season. But the players have a few more games to make their mark. We go line-by-line to decide who has the most to prove. Daniel Salloi is the most obvious, but a couple players on the backline have questions to be answered as well. And can Erik Hurtado cement himself in this club's future plans?

The Galaxy have shown a few cracks lately and Robert thinks their defense has a lot of problems for Sporting to exploit. But how do you stop Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his 23 goals - should you focus on him, or preventing the service to him? Cristian Pavón has been a fantastic addition to the league and it's possible we could see the return of Romain Alessandrini.

There aren't many questions about the lineup this weekend, except in the midfield. Does Ilie Sanchez resume his starting role or will Felipe Gutierrez start at holding midfield with Benny Feilhaber getting the nod again?

Let's Go Streaking: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Sep 04, 2019

This week's podcast covers SKC's 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo, a huge match on Saturday in Portland, as well as a USA vs Mexico discussion.

Graham Smith has stepped up when this team needed it the most. He's solidified the back line during a string of wins by one-goal margins and provided help on the attacking end as well. Ilie Sanchez has been getting a break recently, starting on the bench with Gutierrez in his spot. Why has this been working so well?

Many have tried to replace Seth Sinovic, and Luis Martins is next in line to attempt it. He has been improving every game and the Sporting Kansas City win over the Dynamo was his best yet. Can he hold that spot down?

Of course, with the biggest game of the year coming up against the Portland Timbers, Sporting will be without six players. Felipe Gutierrez and Johnny Russell will have the biggest impact. What will this mean for Peter Vermes' lineup. and can they still pull out a win to go level with the Timbers?

It's time for the United States Men's National Team to get back in action, and for the first time in a very long time, we aren't entirely disappointed in the selection. In the absence of Michael Bradley, Alfredo Morales is back in the mix much to the surprise of Cody. But the young guys have a chance to impress against Mexico and Uruguay. Might we see someone like Sergino Dest solidify himself with the Yanks?

Call-Ups Are Coming: Shades of Blue Soccer Show Aug 29, 2019

This week it was just Cody and Thad in the studio taking a couple questions from Twitter about Yohan Croizet, the string of call-ups for Sporting Kansas City players, and what sort of impact it will have on the team. We also look ahead and preview potential lineups against the Houston Dynamo this weekend.

Where in the world is Croizet? Is he even technically still with the team? Is it the team or the player that has created this situation? We discuss what Peter Vermes had to say about it.

Johnny Russel, Boton Borath, Krisztian Nemeth, Felipe Gutierrez, Nico Hasler, and Gianluca Busio have all been called into their respective national teams and will be leaving the team after the Houston match. SKC will be without them for an incredibly important match with the Portland Timbers.

But for this weekend, it looks like almost everyone is back to health. What will Vermes do with so many options for his lineuup this week? We've got the report from the training ground.

A Real Rivalry: Shades of Blue Soccer Show S2:E21 Aug 21, 2019

With an odd Thursday match this week Cody, Robert, and Thad have a fresh new podcast covering all things Sporting Kansas City - and Missouri soccer.

Saturday's big comeback win over San Jose Earthquakes was a breath of fresh air as we saw glimpses of the SKC team we know and love. But will it actually be the start of something, or will they follow this up with another loss as we've seen several times this season? Graham Smith has established himself as the backup centerback to Besler & Barath, plus Luis Martins had a solid match by not being very noticeable.

St. Louis has finally been awarded an MLS team. It has been a long time coming and will mean a lot for soccer in Midwest, the league, and for fans wanting to see a true rivalry. But what might this mean for the expansive Sporting KC Academy?

Minnesota United is far from a real rival, as the fans from both teams are as friendly with eachother as humanly possible. Thad is really "peeved" about the late 8:30pm kickoff in the middle of the week. What was MLS thinking? Our old friend Ike Opara will make his way back to Children's Mercy Park as part of the 2nd place team in the West. We talk about his impact on leaving SKC and arriving in Minnesota. We'll also tell you who was training and who is likely to be in Peter Vermes' starting lineup for another important match to keep playoff hopes alive.

Fixer Upper: Shades of Blue Soccer Show S2:E20 Aug 16, 2019

We're officially in the darkest timeline.. But the podcast is here to fix Sporting Kansas City.

Cody, Robert, and Thad were in the studio to discuss Wednesday's disappointing loss at the hands of Orlando City. Peter Vermes was forced into three experiments in this one with Gianluca Busio on the wing, Jimmy Medranda up top, and Graham Smith at centerback. We decide what worked and what should never, ever happen again.

A new segment was introduced this week as the team struggles so heavily - Pod Save the Team. Because we have all the answers on this podcast. What can be done to fix this and get SKC into the post season?

We were also joined by Daniel Sperry once again and he was able to share with us some great insight into Saturday's opponent, the San Jose Earthquakes. And as always we go through each part of the lineup and figure out what Peter Vermes should do with his Starting XI this weekend.

He Named Names: Shades of Blue Soccer Show S2:E19 Aug 13, 2019

Every time we think this Sporting Kansas City team is ready to climb out of the abyss, they just sink deeper. They had a big opportunity to chip away at their deficit in the playoff race against Real Salt Lake on Saturday but after a 2-1 loss, they are sitting eight points out right now. Misery loves company right? We were joined by Daniel Sperry to talk about the loss and prepare for the midweek match against Orlando City.

A Peter Vermes team is always very organized and smart on defense. Always, except for right now. We talk about what is going on with the defense and why things look so different than SKC fans are used to from their defense. Felipe Gutierrez had us talking last week about him being the leader and perhaps putting the team on his back, but his missed penalty put a damper on things. Another play from the RSL match that proved vital was the no-call on a penalty kick. What say you... pen or no pen?

Daniel Salloi has yet to score in what has been an incredibly disappointing MLS season for him, which was underlined by a head scratching tackle that earned him a red card. The 23-year-old has a resounding lack of confidence at the moment. But he is a streaky player as we saw last year, perhaps he just needs one lucky moment to get him on track.

Our old friends Dom Dwyer and Uri Rosell await Sporting KC in Orlando on Wednesday, although neither of them have been playing every match. Is it possible that the whole "spiritual home" thing was nonsense? Could that really be?

Thad was at training and has all the bits you need to know on who is fit for Wendesday. We go through each spot in the roster to come up with a starting lineup in spite of the injuries and suspension.

Daniel makes up a new word.

Real Big Match: Shades of Blue Soccer Show S2:E18 Aug 08, 2019

The gang's all here! Aly was back at it again on Wednesday night with Cody, Robert, and Thad to revisit the huge win over Seattle and preview Saturday's equally important match with RSL.

Sporting Kansas City got the 3-2 win over the Seattle Sounders last week on the back of a Felipe Gutierrez brace. The Chilean has stepped up as of late, both on and off the field. Can he be the guy to put SKC on his back and climb up the ladder into the playoffs? We also discuss the encouraging start (and goal) from Erik Hurtado in Krisztian Nemeth's absence. He brings something different to the table and the fans are here for it.

Botond Borath has claimed the starting role, but is Andreu Fontas really as bad as the criticism he's been receiving? He won't be winning a footrace anytime soon, but the entire back line is lacking in the speed department. Do you blame centerbacks or the fullbacks?

There was also some breaking news while we were recording as Kelyn Rowe was traded to RSL in exchange for $75,000 in TAM as well as an international roster spot. He was unable to contribute much on the field in his short time here, so it was a fairly easy choice for Peter Vermes to move him and open up that international spot.

Real Salt Lake is coming to KC on Saturday for what is a real big match (I'll see myself out). They will be without head coach Mike Petke who has been suspended by MLS and additionally by RSL for an outburst after a match. We'll also tell you who is training, who is match fit, and who the fans want to see in the Starting XI.

Return of Roger: Shades of Blue Soccer Show S2:E17 Jul 25, 2019

The podcast is back after a buy week to discuss Sporting Kansas City's loss to FC Dallas, players returning from injury, and give a preview of Friday's match in NYC.

There was something in the stadium on July 20th that prevent anyone from making a shot on target. Everyone except Dallas, that is. We discuss Saturday's Media Game and how Cody wasn't the only one who couldn't manage a shot on target. SKC took 18 shots on the day and it wasn't until later in the 2nd half they managed to get two of them on goal. Coming off two straight wins it was a gut punch to lose this one at home. But the return of Roger Espinoza was a breath of fresh air and something this team was missing desperately for too long.

We have seen the light at the end of the tunnel for this stretch of injuries and everyone is back training except for Jaylin Lindsey and Rodney Wallace. Roger is a big one but while we still have the famous question of "Who is the striker" right now, Erik Hurtado will be welcomed back with open arms. We have a lineup discussion at all parts of the field. Does Yohan Croizet or Krisztian Nemeth get the nod up top? Who do you play in the absence of Felipe Gutierrez (yellow card accumulation)? Benny Feilhaber or Gianluca Busio? Does Vermes change the back line after a shaky performance last week?

New York City FC has historically (heh) been defined by big stars, but they are finding success this season without a household name. They know how to play on their small field, but unleashing crazy people like Espinoza and Croizet in a small area might be really fun to watch. As always, you'll find a lot of positivity and optimism as we look ahead to this match.

...Especially without Thad on the pod this week.

World Champs: Shades of Blue Soccer Show S2:E16 Jul 11, 2019

Riddled with injuries and inter-state duty, the podcast roster was down to Cody and Thad this week. But the summer of soccer has given us a lot to discuss as of late. The United States Women's National Team are FIFA World Cup Champions for the fourth time and the celebrations have been so much fun to watch! The USMNT were able to make the Gold Cup final against Mexico, but still came up a bit short falling 1-0. And SKC get a much needed win that hopefully marks the beginning of their climb through the ranks of the West.

With Megan Rapinoe & Rose Lavelle netting the goals, the US took down the Netherlands to become World Champs yet again. The country, especially Kansas City, were all the way behind them and the party has yet to stop. The girls are enjoying the wave, but how long will this last? Can the NWSL parlay this hype into something more for the sport? The scenes from PnL (somehow) had some wondering if fans were to blame for the demise of FCKC. Thad is a HUGE fan of the women's game and we discuss the failures of their ownership as well as problems with fans.

We also spent some time on the USMNT's Gold Cup performance. While the end result may not have been what everyone wanted, there was progress made. We are witnessing a changing of the guard as Weston McKennie, Aaron Long, and Christian Pulisic take charge of the team. But there is still clearly a long way to go - on the field and off. Can Omar Gonzalez really be a part of the team going forward? The same could be asked of Michael Bradley as well.

Yohan Croizet has scored in back-to-back matches and Sporting Kansas City moved out of last place in the Western Conference. The Transfer Window has opened and Peter Vermes claims to be looking at 30 players, but Cody & Thad think the most useful reinforcements will come by way of players returning from injury. Aside from Jaylin Lindsey and Rodney Wallace, everyone is training again. Roger Espinoza is on the road back for a huge boost in the midfield, and Erik Hurtado is nearing a return as well. Hurtado should light a fire under the struggling Krisztian Nemeth.

There will be some choices to make for the lineup against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. We come up with a game-plan for the lineup and substitutions to get a win. The fans are leaning towards Graham Zusi over Nico Hasler, but perhaps more surprising is Croizet leading the way over Nemeth at striker.

Wins All Around - Shades of Blue Soccer Show Jun 25, 2019

It's a great week for soccer in Kansas City with Sporting finally getting a win over Columbus, the United States Women beat Spain in the World Cup, and the USMNT is coming to Children's Mercy Park on Wednesday! Cody, Bob, and Thad were in the studio on Monday night to talk about all the wins coming in.

The match may not have been the prettiest, but Sporting Kansas City claimed all three points over the Columbus Crew and are starting to show signs of their old selves. Tim Melia was back to his old tricks as he bailed the team out more times than we can count. Botond Barath also gets some praise in the podcast after establishing himself as a rock for the defense. Benny Feilhaber had absolutely no idea what was going on when SKC got the goal. It was a really, really bad look for him. But the podcast found it hilarious.

Spain proved to be quite the test for the USWNT on Monday, but they advance after two penalty kicks that sparked a lot of discussion. Don't you just love a good ol' "Pen or No-Pen" argument?!

With the USMNT in town and training at Pinnacle, Thad got to hear from Gregg Berhalter and get a glimpse of training as well. What does Gyasi Zardes do better than Jozy Altidore? Does Berhalter switch up the lineup to rest anyone? There is a lot to unwrap with the national team right now and we even reminisce on past USA matches in KC.

The Yanks Are Coming - Shades of Blue Soccer Show Jun 19, 2019

Sporting Kansas City took a week off and the podcast decided to use that time to recover as well. Cody, Aly, Robert, and Thad were back in the studio to cover a very busy summer of soccer. The Women's World Cup is in full swing and the USWNT caused a stir with their celebrations in a 13-0 win. The United States Men's National Team kicks off the Gold Cup after struggling heavily as of late. Plus, Sporting Kansas City will try to pull themselves out of a slump against the Columbus Crew this weekend.

Aly and Thad have some strong opinions on Megan Rapinoe's (perhaps) excessive celebration. This is the World Cup, not little league. But where do you stand? Was this a close-knit team having fun - or was it rubbing it in the face of a team that didn't stand a chance?

The USMNT has been quite the dumpster fire and they haven't inspired a ton of confidence heading into the Concacaf Gold Cup that they kicked off on Wednesday night. The team has gotten away from what so many fans took pride in - grit. What is the minimum this team needs to show in this tournament?

The lineup for Sporting Kansas City is slowing starting to look better. Despite still missing likes of Roger Espinoza, Peter Vermes has a lot more firepower to work with. We ask the question, "Can things get any worse?" Players are returning and it feels like brighter days are ahead, but things must improve quickly.

The Shades of Blue Soccer Show - Over It - Season 2 Episode 13 May 31, 2019

Something has to give, right? Sporting KC got the monkey off their back with a 3-2 win over Seattle Sounders, but the troubles continued against a tough Los Angeles Galaxy team. Vermes' hand has been forced several times and he is just clearly "over it" when it comes to the injuries, suspensions, and national team duty.

The crew discusses the last two matches, including Johnny F. Russell in all his glory. In the Seattle match, we saw Yohan Croizet step up to the challenge and really have a big impact on the win. But after just three days rest, Croizet - and the rest of the team - was a little flat-footed. The lack of rest definitely played a role, but SKC had plenty of chances to get a result against the Galaxy. They were punished for two mistakes with two goals.

Looking ahead to the weekend, SKC travel to take on the Houston Dynamo. Just what the doctor ordered... another match on short rest in the Texas heat. Things won't be getting easier as the Dynamo are off to a hot start this season. We examine potential lineups and update the injury report as well.

Sporting KC Podcast - The Shades of Blue Soccer Show: Progression May 23, 2019

Conceding the late goal to the Vancouver Whitecaps extended Sporting Kansas City's winless streak to seven games and this podcast is running short on positivity. But Cody, Aly, & Thad are here to talk you off the ledge.

We find something good - and something bad - from last weekend's gut punch of a draw. The progression is happening, the team is starting to look like themselves again, but the result was the same. Yohan Croizet has been a hot button issue and the podcast is incredibly disappointed in his performance this season. But Matt Besler is back and his teammates and coach could not be happier about it. Taking a look at the stoppage time equalizer, we decide the majority of the blame goes to Felipe Gutierrez, although it appeared most of the team switched off for that vital moment.

Peter Vermes was recently interviewed and he mentioned SKC's pursuit of both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giovanni Dos Santos. While it is hard to say how extensive these were, it does show this team's search for players is never ending.

The team you love to hate, the Seattle Sounders, come to town this weekend. They will be without a player who has inflicted plenty of damage to SKC, Chad Marshall, who announced his retirement this week.

Thad gives an extensive report from training and Peter Vermes on the outlook of the lengthy injury report. Find out who is nearing return, and who the team will be without for the next several weeks. As always we get a close look at the lineup with the help of our readers in our weekly lineup poll. Who does SKC Nation want to start? And whose parents are just voting for them?

Shades of Blue Soccer Show - 2019 Episode 9 - Retro chat with Robo May 02, 2019

The gang were back at it again but this time we had a very special guest. Rob Thomson, Sporting Kansas City Chief Communications Officer stopped in the studio for what was going to be a segment of our regular podcast. It ended up too long and so much fun that it needed to be a standalone pod. For those who dod not know, Rob (or Robo as we all know him) has been with the team since 1997 and has wore a lot of hats in that time. He has known almost every player and has been (at least one of the people) behind most of the great PR moves, promotions and practical jokes that Sporting KC has pulled off so well. The chat was supposed to be mostly about the old days but it ranged from stories about the old days to how Sporting KC went through the rebrand. We even find out a potential name before Sporting Kansas City was chosen (and yes it was bad).

Shades of Blue Soccer Show - 2019 Episode 7 - Kaku, San Jose and more! Apr 18, 2019

Back at it again! Robert, Cody and Thad get together again with a little time between games. What an interesting match with New York that was. The big discussion point was of course the well deserved red card to Kaku. The real question is what will MLS do with him. Additional suspension? Fines? Make him stay in New York? Busio scored his thrid straight goal in three games. A good year so far for the 16-year-old. How much more will we see him? We cover the possible lineup versus San Jose and even get in some Kansas City Comets news.

A Nemeth hat trick, an amazing performance from Gerso and the entire team made for a really fun afternoon. The crew name their favorite goal of the day. As much fun as kicking Montreal's rear back to Canada was, the boys have to turn attention to CCL and a huge match in Monterrey. Cody, Robert and Thad talk aout what the team needs to accomplish in Mexico to have a chance back in Kansas City. I's not all good news, Jaylin Lindsey is out for a while and we try to decide what SKC can do if Zusi needs a rest.

A dominate win at home and another on the road and now Sporting KC has to pivot to MLS play. We break down what went so well for SKC against Toluca and whether or not they can keep it up versus their MLS opponents. With a short turnaround we discuss what kind of lineup Peter Vermes will put out at LAFC on Sunday. Another major point of discussion was Bob's article about prefering to focus on MLS Cup over CCL. There was a lot of "disagreeement" thrown our way but did people really read the article or just the headline?

The crew was finally back at it again on Wednesday night after a couple weeks off. Cody, Aly, & Bob broke in the studio and looked ahead to the final five matches of the season. Is first place within their grasp? What is the best lineup to get them there? So much to discuss! Three at home. Two away. Every single point will make waves in the Western Conference playoff race and each remaining opponent is battling for their spot. This is going to be fun. The show covers each match and gives you an idea of what it will take from SKC to get that playoff game at Children’s Mercy Park. Taking a look at the lineup, Bob wonders, “Is Krisztian Nemeth a CF or isn’t he?” He’s played winger for Vermes but was brought in to fill a void at striker. The versatility on this roster brings up a fun question for Sporting fans. What is your preferred LW/CF/RW combination? Forget about who is injured and what you think Peter Vermes will do. Let us know in the comments what front-three you’d select. There is also a discussion about Daniel Salloi. He has seen so much of the bench lately it is starting to look like he is in the dog house. After last week’s performance from Gerso, Vermes’ selection will tell us a lot. How are the injuries of Rubio and Shelton you ask? Well, we don’t know that. Not when we recorded, at least. But check our Twitter for that answer on Thursday! During ExtraTime, you’ll learn how Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs is taking all the attention away from soccer in Kansas City.

Cody, Thad, and Bob got in the studio to discuss what it will take for SKC to bring a postseason match back to Children’s Mercy Park. Diego Rubio is in top form right now and receiving tons of praise around the league. The Chilean has given Peter Vermes no choice but to start him once again this weekend. No doubt the arrival of Krisztian Nemeth has played a role in lighting a fire underneath Rubio. We’ve got audio from PV as he looks at the final stretch of the season. He sounds confident and pleased with where his team is at. Bob figures Sporting will need 15 points to secure 2nd place, and possibly eight for 4th place. Will that be enough? Can this team take that many points from a tough schedule? Minnesota United are paying a visit on Saturday and it looks like three points, on paper. But we know how this team operates. Three points at Atlanta is no problem, but the Rapids give them fits. There is also a good discussion about Brad Evans and his impact (or lack there of) on the club this year.
