It's Time For Democrats To Rally Around Income Inequality Aug 31, 2018
    Show notes

Bernie Sanders is taking on Amazon. Bernie rightfully pointed out that Amazon treats their employees terribly and still get giant tax breaks. There are Amazon employees who rely on food stamps JUST to make ends meet. Considering how much money they make, they MUST treat their employees better or face consequences.

Guest host Peter Ogburn talks about Bernie vs Amazon and welcomes Rep. Al Green (D-TX). He was one of the first members of Congress to call for impeachment, which more Democrats are getting on board with.

We also talk about Beto O'Rourke, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and how Democrats are running witn (or away) from socialism with Ben Terris from the Washington Post.

And Emily Atkin from New Republic joins us to talk about environmental policy and the damage being done by the Trump administration.

The Governors Race in Florida Takes A Racist Turn Aug 30, 2018
    Show notes

Ron DeSantis is the Republican candidate for Governor in the state of Florida. He's running against Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum. On Wednesday, DeSantis says Florida doesn't want to "monkey it up" by electing Gillum. It's an obvious slur that is straight from the Trump playbook. We talk about what impact that could have on the race and how Gillum's politics will play in Florida.

White House Counsel Don McGahn got the boot. Trump announced that McGahn is departing the White House. The only problem is.... Trump didn't tell McGahn before he tweeted about it. Sloppy in all aspects.

Plus, Trump doubles down on how well he's done with Puerto Rico. This is despite the updated death count, which is MUCH higher than originally reported.

We talk to The Hill's Cate Martel, ThinkProgress's Addy Baird and HuffPost's Kevin Robillard!

Can Andrew Gillum WIn in Florida? Aug 29, 2018
    Show notes

Bernie Sanders-backed Andrew Gillum won the Democratic primary for governor in Florida last night. He'll be facing Ron DeSantis, who has tied himself to Trump more than any other candidate. It's going to be an amazing race to watch. Can Gillum win? Damn right he can.

Facing the walls closing in around him, Trump did what he does best... He tried to change the topic. He brought the wall up again and still insists that Mexico is going to pay for it. He also accused Google of burying positive results about him when people search for him. Conspiracy theories galore! He might try to change the subject, but it's not going to work!

Bill talks to Politico's Dan Lippman, Alex Seitz-Wald from NBC News and Simone Pathe from Roll Call.

Just How Petty Is Donald Trump? Pretty Damn Petty. Aug 28, 2018
    Show notes

Donald Trump *might* be a millionaire, but money clearly can't buy you class. After flying the flag at half staff for just over a day, the White House raised it back on Monday. It took a day of criticism from all sides before they even issued a statement of John McCain.

There was also a MAJOR shift in Florida when it comes to how the GOP redistricted the voting map. A court ruled it unconstitutional and we could see them swing in a favorable way for Democrats before the November elections. Combine that with some exciting news about Bet O'Rourke's race to defeat Ted Cruz and you've got some pretty exciting news for Dems.

We sit down with Tom Perez, the chairman of the DNC, Graham Vyse from Governing Magazine and Congressional Reporter for Daily Beast Andrew Desiderio.

The Walls Are Closing In Around The Trump White House Aug 27, 2018
    Show notes

Bill is back! He's got a lot to catch up on! We go through last week and how crazy the news was. And there was breaking news from over the weekend. The CFO of the Trump Organization has been given immunity to discuss the money. This could be BAD NEWS for Trump. The walls are closing in!

Bill remembers his friend John McCain and talks about how far the GOP has gotten away from his message of decency.

We discuss the legal problems for Trump with New Republic's Matt Ford and how Fox News speaks to the President with Matt Gertz from Media Matters!

BONUS: Stand Your Ground is Back in the News in Florida Aug 25, 2018
    Show notes

In Florida, the "Stand Your Ground" gun law is back in the news after a white man shot an unarmed black man over a parking dispute. Peter Ogburn talks to Ngozi Ndulue, Senior Director of Criminal Justice Programs at the NAACP about the history of the controversial law and the direction that it's going in Florida. We also get into the specifics of the shooting, so if there are young ears nearby, maybe wait to listen until they are not around.

A Recap of The Craziest Week of the Trump Presidency Aug 24, 2018
    Show notes

Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, Jeff Sessions and Donald Trump. What a wild week we had. Guest host Evan McMorris-Santoro joins us to recap all the craziness we saw this week. There was a major blow to the Trump campaign with Michael Cohen, but Trump and his staff don't seem to be changing their strategy at all. Will it work out for them? Time will tell, but so far it doesn't look great.

We're joined by Vox's Dara Lind, HuffPost's Ryan J Reilly and Alex Jaffe from Vice News!

The White House Fights Back Against Cohen Aug 23, 2018
    Show notes

After we received news that Michael Cohen implicated Donald Trump in his crimes, the WH rallied the troops and pushed back on Cohen. Donald Trump and Sarah Huckabee Sanders faced the media to say that Trump did nothing wrong. Again, it's an attempt by the WH to make this a "he said-he said." Time will tell if it's actually going to work.

Guest host Sabrina Siddiqui welcomes Max Bergmann from The Moscow Project, Daniel Lippman from Politico and Zoe Tillman from Buzzfeed.

A Day That Could Define The Trump Presidency Aug 22, 2018
    Show notes

A jawdropper of a news day on Tuesday as we saw Michael Cohen plead guilty while implicating Donald Trump in his crimes, but also Paul Manafort get convicted on 8 of his charges brought by Robert Mueller. Not only that, the second Congressman to endorse Trump, Duncan Hunter Jr, was indicted on several counts of fraud. This could very well define the Trump presidency.

Guest host Jason Dick welcomes Todd Ruger, Bridget Bowman and Clyde McGrady all from Roll Call to tackle the insane news day.

Donald Trump Tries To Clean Up The Mess That His Own Lawyer Created Aug 22, 2018
    Show notes

Donald Trump spoke to Reuters to try and clarify statements that Rudy Giuliani made when he said that "truth isn't truth." Trump turned the whole Mueller investigation into a "he said-he said." Will that ultimately work? Don't count on it.

We also size up the midterms and the Democrats' chances of taking back the House and the Senate, but also the role that women are playing in taking down Trump's agenda

Guest host Peter Ogburn welcomes Lauren Gambino from the Guardian, Alayna Treene from Axios and Ella Nilsen from Vox.
