First Address: “THE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY” – Speaker: Brother Nicholas White (Pershore).
“Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; the LORD of hosts is his name: if those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever” Jer 31:35,36.
An ancient nation is repeatedly driven from its homeland. That nation, ultimately dispersed across the globe. Many centuries roll by, yet that nation retains its identity and is finally regathered and returns to the same land. This is remarkable in itself. But that this should be the fulfilment of specific, detailed prophecy, written down thousands of years in advance, is beyond human intelligence. It is witness to the wisdom, foreknowledge and power of Yahweh, the Mighty One of Israel, from whose mouth those words proceeded. Seeing these events unfold before their eyes gladdened the hearts of earlier generations of Christadelphians. But the Almighty is still at work. If the Lord will, we shall consider how events in Israel and relations with her neighbours today show us that our God is still fulfilling His purpose. The grand climax of all things draws near. Our Lord is knocking at the door. Now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Second Address: “DISTRESS OF NATIONS WITH PERPLEXITY” – Speaker: Brother Peter Owen (Mumbles).
It is clear from the signs of the times that we are living at the end of the Gentile age. The Lord Jesus will very soon return to the earth. We live in a world of anxiety and uncertainty. No leaders have the answers and the lives of families and individuals are under great strain. From the problems of the climate, to war, to the energy crisis to cost of living worries – everyone everywhere is feeling the effects of a world groaning in travail. The death of the queen has rocked the nation and even the international community as one of the only constants in everyone’s lives has now gone. Yet, the Bible offers an anchor for the soul, a rock on which to build our lives and have hope in this troubled world. The Bible continues to set before us a ‘sure word of prophecy’ which we can rely upon and take confidence that God is in control of world events and his purpose is sure. We need to keep watching for the King of Kings to return to the earth to set up an everlasting righteous kingdom to bring peace.
Third Address: “LOVE HIS APPEARING” – Speaker: Brother Stephen Whitehouse (Hall Green).
We tend to see the kingdom of God as a utopia, something we aspire to but can’t achieve. However, the reality is that one day, by God’s grace, we will reach that destination. My talk is a personal account of why I’m looking forward to Jesus Christ as King of the World. This is a future you don’t want to miss! While it is beyond our comprehension, it is also within our grasp if we remain faithful until Jesus returns.
