The Bible Journey Daily Podcast

The Bible Project Daily Podcast is an in-depth, daily study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Episode Notes: "What About Angels and What About Guardian Angels?" (2 Kings 6: 1-23)

As I’ve studied the Scriptures over the years, one truth has impressed itself on me again and again: God wants to be your God, and He wants us to be His people.

Well, I think it means

· He wants to provide for us.

· He wants to protect us.

· And He wants to bless us, abundantly.

But how does He do that?

There are all kinds of answers you could give.

Sometimes, He uses our own effort.

Sometimes He uses other people.

Sometimes He works through circumstances.

But what about angels? Does God ever use angels to meet our needs?

Do you have a guardian angel? Is there one angel assigned to you?

Is that even , and if it is, how should you think about that?

Well, there’s a passage in 2 Kings that sheds some light on these questions. And what happens in this passage, though dramatic, actually mirrors the way God works in our lives today….

How to Be a Servant of the Lord. (2 Kings 5: 1-27) Apr 27, 2026

The Bible Project Daily Podcast is an in-depth, daily study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Episode Notes: How to Be a Servant of the Lord. (2 Kings 5 1-27)

If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, you are automatically a servant of the Lord, and you are also called to serve, to minister to other people. So, the question is not whether you’re a servant. The question is: What makes someone a good servant of the Lord?

There’s a passage in the Old Testament that gives us a vivid illustration of what true servanthood looks like. And what makes this passage especially interesting is that it contains several servants, each contributing something different to the picture it paints.

So, join me in 2 Kings chapter 5, one of the most familiar stories in the Old Testament — the healing of Naaman.

The Bible Project Daily Podcast is a daily, in-depth study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Episode Notes: Examples of God's Provision. (2 Kind 4: 1-44) Part 1.

One of the great themes of Scripture is that God provides for His children. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells us that God sees, God knows, and God supplies. But what does that actually look like? What kinds of needs does He meet? And how does He meet them? The Old Testament is full of examples, and the New Testament builds on those promises. But in 2 Kings 4, we’re given three very specific, very practical stories of God stepping into real human need. And each one shows us something about how God provides for us today…

Are Others Blessed Because of You? (2 Kings 3: 1-27) Apr 22, 2026

Episode Notes: Are others Blessed Because of You? (2 Kings 3: 1-27)

Welcome back, friends. Today, we’re stepping into one of the most surprising stories in the life of Elisha, a moment when God pours out blessings on people who didn’t deserve it, simply because one man humbled himself before the Lord.

It’s a story that asks a searching question of every believer: Is it possible that God sometimes blesses people because of us?

The bible gives us some examples of exactly that, and one of the clearest is found right here today in 2 Kings 3.

This is a fascinating story because of that exact twist, because here we see God blessing people who don’t deserve it, simply because of someone who does deserve that blessing.

So, join me in 2 Kings chapter 3….

Episode Notes: How God Uses Us to Bless Others. (2 Kings 2: 1-25)

Straight fact: God wants to use you to bless other people.

Now, I can imagine someone hearing that and thinking, Yes, but I don’t know how, I’m not trained. Well, that’s exactly what I want us to talk about today.

There’s a fascinating story in 2 Kings 2 about a man who knew how to bless others—how to minister to people—and from that story, we can glean some very practical insights as to how to do that in our own lives....

Who should we follow in life?

Should you follow your mother, or your father? The reason we’re asking that is because the opening chapter of 2 Kings forces that issue. It’s right there in the text.

Let's begin the next stage of our journey….

2 Kings — Introduction - The Book that Details the Destruction of the Kingdom. Apr 17, 2026

Episode Notes: Introduction - 2 Kings: The Book that Details the Destruction of the Kingdom.

Today, we begin a new chapter in the next stage of our journey through the whole bible, as we step from 1 Kings into 2 Kings.

2 Kings is a book that stands like a solemn monument in the overall landscape of the bible. If 1 Kings is the book of decline, 2 Kings is the book of collapse. If 1 Kings shows the cracks forming in the kingdom, 2 Kings shows the walls finally giving way.

This is not a cheerful book, but it is a necessary one, and it is profoundly relevant for our times.

Follow your Father. (1 Kings 22; 41-53) Apr 16, 2026

Show notes

The Bible Project Daily Podcast is a daily, in-depth study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Episode Notes: Follow your Father. (1 Kings 22; 41-53)

According to the bible, children are called to obey and honour their parents. This is a clear instruction that forms the foundation of the parent-child relationship in early life.

But the question remains: should you always follow your parents? Some may immediately agree, while others may hesitate or question this idea. The answer depends on who the parent is and in what area you are considering following them.

This distinction is important, and as we progress through the book of 1 Kings, we encounter the final paragraph of the last chapter of 1 Kings in which are two stories are presented—each about a different king.

What is most striking is that one king followed his father, and that proved to be beneficial, while another king followed his father and that had negative consequences.

Now the topic itself is complex. Some do not have fathers, and this presents its own questions and challenges. Ultimately, there are two primary answers to this question, with several nuances in between….

Beware of False Preachers. (1 Kings 22: 1-40) Apr 15, 2026

The Bible Project Daily Podcast is a daily, in-depth study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Episode Notes: Beware of False Preachers. (1 Kings 22: 1-40)

If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ and you’re serious about spiritual growth, then I assume you’re serious about Scripture. And if you’re serious about Scripture, you probably do more than listen to an occasional sermon on Sunday.

Maybe you read Christian books and listen to Christian podcasts. Maybe you watch Christian television, and maybe you scroll through Christian content online.

Now, there’s a place for all of that because there’s value in hearing different voices.

But be careful.

Listening to some Christian speakers and influencers these days can be risky to your spiritual health. I know—that sounds like a strange, but it’s a biblical warning because the bible repeatedly cautions God’s people about what they call false prophets, false teachers, with false messages.

So today, I want to take you to a passage in the Old Testament that illustrates this danger vividly. And after we walk through the story, I want to show you some New Testament passages also that warn us about the same thing.
