They particularly dive into Josh's impressions going through his first budget season.     On today’s episode, EPISODE 100, Bingham Group CEO A.J. speaks with community advocate and friend Virginia Cumberbatch, Co-Founder of Rosa Rebellion, a platform for creative activism by and for women of color. She and A.J. discuss the state of Black Austin, proclaimed liberalism, the impetus for Rosa Rebellion, and more. As a creative, scholar and organizer, Virginia’s work sits at the intersection of community advocacy and storytelling. Prior to Rosa Rebellion, Virginia served as Director of Equity and Community Advocacy for The University of Texas at Austin’s Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE) from 2016 to 2020. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Virginia is the recipient of the 2016 Anti-Defamation League of Austin Social Justice Award and the 2018 Austin 40 Under 40 Award for Civics, Government and Public Affairs. Virginia attended Austin-based St. Stephen's Episcopal Schoo, holds a B.A. in history from Williams College and a M.A. in public affairs from the Lyndon B. Traditionally tasked with leading Austin’s global business outreach and business expansion incentive programs, EDD has pivoted becoming the lead city department on economic recovery. Veronica discuss several of the recovery programs developed thus far, as well as the $271.6 million Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. spending framework passed by the Austin City Council on June 4th.
