The Better Part – Intentional Living for Christian Moms with a Bible-Loving Catholic Mama

“The Lord said to her in reply, ‘Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things… Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.'” Luke 10:41-42

How do we choose “the better part” in the unpredictable and sometimes chaotic days of motherhood? How do we know when God is calling us to set down the laundry so that we can pray, and when we need to set down our Bibles to love the crying child right in front of us?

This podcast delves into all aspects of Christian motherhood, trying at its core to point all listeners to Jesus and His loving plan for us.

    198. Check Your Phone Too Much? (I know I do) // “Digital Minimalism” + How to Limit Phone Use Dec 28, 2021
    Show notes

Did you know the average person checks their phone 58 times a day? Yikes! Do you struggle with using your phone more than you want to? Or do you find yourself checking it at times when you “should be” present with your family? I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I am in this struggle with you and I’m passionate about helping other moms work on this problem (with God’s help, of course). *This episode is longer than 500 seconds, but I HAD to keep all of it because this topic is so important and could honestly be a whole series. But let’s just start small and get this conversation started, mamas.* I’d love to introduce the concept of “digital minimalism”, which you may have heard of, because Cal Newport wrote a book called “Digital Minimalism”. I’m listening to it on audio through the library and it is an EXCELLENT + very THOUGHT-PROVOKING book. Ok, let’s dive in to today’s episode, which will hopefully get you excited to make some changes in 2022, and I pray these changes are lasting. God wants to transform us, but we must partner with Him in this. I’m going to be hosting some phone challenges to help all of us with this modern day parenting challenge - tech obsession. And of course, God is always the first answer, but there are other practical things we can work on together to get more intentional about our phone use. Quick disclaimer: I love how technology improves our lives. I just want to start a conversation about how it may be taking away from our lives and how we can get more INTENTIONAL about our phone use. I don’t have this all figured out, but I hope this episode gets you thinking so you can take this to prayer and maybe even journal about it. Let’s be moms who aren’t chained to our phones and are free to live to life God has called us to live, with joy! God bless you and your family! I hope you’re enjoying this Christmas season!!
