Counterfeit Kingdom reveals dangers and distortions of New Apostolic Reformation & its influence on American Church
A dangerous set of teachings is shaping America’s worship songs, ministries and political engagement. This new movement is influencing many churches and individual Christians, often without their realization. But is this biblical Christianity?
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a popular, new movement of Christians who emphasize signs and wonders and teach that God is giving new revelation through new “apostles” and “prophets.” While much of what NAR leaders put forth may seem mainstream at first glance, a study of its teachings and practices reveals troubling underpinnings.
In their new book Counterfeit Kingdom, apologists and NAR experts Holly Pivec and Doug Geivett show how NAR's key tenets distort the gospel of grace and diminish the deity of Jesus, as well as include New Age practices. The book also includes personal stories that have flooded Pivec’s and Geivett’s inboxes over the years from those who have experienced spiritual abuse in NAR churches from those who claim authority.
Counterfeit Kingdom aids every believer in the vital work of discernment and best-selling author Alisa Childers calls it the “most important book you will read this year.” In addition, Pivec and Geivett hope their book will aid church leaders in understanding NAR, giving them biblically grounded, practical suggestions for discipling individuals who are already influenced by false teachings.
The church-at-large needs a wake-up call and Counterfeit Kingdom provides research, anecdotes and faithfulness to historic Christian teaching at just the right time.
