    Show notes

In this episode of The Aware Parenting Podcast, I answer 12 questions from parents, starting with a 9 year old, going back through decreasing ages to a 6 month old. The questions include nightmares, wriggling, frequent night waking, not wanting dad to put them to bed, pulling hair whilst breastfeeding to sleep, healing from birth trauma, and waking up crying. I also talk about general things you can do to support your child or baby to be more relaxed and sleep more restoratively. I'm going to be making a new course on sleep, writing a book and creating a workshop, so keep an eye out on my social media and email list if you want to find out more about those. If you enjoy this episode, please share it with parents who are looking for a different approach with sleep and whom you think might resonate. Show notes

In this episode of The Aware Parenting Podcast, I talk about sleep from an Aware Parenting perspective. This incudes why Aware Parenting is the third way with sleep, the three things needed for sound sleep, and why it's important to understand the difference between true relaxation and dissociation when looking at sleep. I also explain why concepts such as 'overtired', 'fighting sleep', 'sleep windows' and 'sleep regression' don't exist in Aware Parenting. I share about my own experience of sleep in my family and about the myth that early parenthood always not getting much sleep for years! I'm going to be making a new course on sleep, writing a book and creating a workshop, so keep an eye out on my social media and email list if you want to find out more about those. The existing course is very glitchy at the moment! You can find out more about my work at www.marionrose.net, https://www.instagram.com/_marion_rose_/ and https://www.facebook.com/MarionRosePhD

In this first episode of the new-format Aware Parenting Podcast, I talk about stress for parents. Most of all, I normalise the experience stress in The Disconnected Domination Culture and offer compassion and empathy as well ideas for how both to reduce stress and heal from stress. Are you experiencing stress at the moment? If so, is there anything you can do to reduce your stress levels? Anything you can say no to? Things that you can do less of? And most of all, do you have empathy buddies to whom you can express your feelings and opportunities for some peaceful pauses in your life, even if that's just 10 minutes in the bath or leaving messages on Voxer? So much love to you! xoxox You can find our more about my work at: www.marionrose.net

Episode 123: An interview with Gabor Maté Jan 28, 2023
    Show notes

In this very special episode, we interview Gabor Maté about his most recent book, 'The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture.' We so loved talking with Gabor and hearing him share his wisdom about his willingness to be vulnerable, the four needs of children, and how people are desperate for information about trauma and healing. He also shared about attachment and authenticity, and the effects of needing to make a choice between these two as a child on later physical and emotional health. He talked about mothers, and how so often girls are given the responsibility to take care of others and how mothers are then often given the task of mothering both their children and their partner. He explained why virtually all trauma is intergenerational, and makes a key suggestion for healing intergenerational trauma. He also spoke of the effects of the trauma of colonisation in Australia, Canada and other countries. He talked about tantrums and what he invites parents to do if their child is having tantrums. He also spoke about the schooling system and its intentions. He explained that it is unnatural for children to be away from their parents for the whole day, and what schools need to do if children being at school is necessary, so that children have emotional safety and therefore stay connected with their natural curiosity to learn. He shared the reason for the subtitle of his book, and also talked about his stance on children and screens. We are so willing for you to enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed recording it! We so highly recommend 'The Myth of Normal' to anyone who hasn't read it yet.
