We all desire a peaceful, fruitful home where everyone feels loved, valued and welcome. We can all think of things that hinder or even hijack that goal, but the most sneaky enemy of home may be lurking in the dark corners of our own hearts.
In today's Monday Motivation I share a story about this enemy of home involving a close encounter of the natural kind. In keeping with the discovery and nature theme, I'm sharing my favorite apps for identifying the animals, plants and bugs around your home and neighborhood.
I also share a couple of listener comments and a tip from the AoH Mail Bag.

    Show notes

Send me a text about this episode!

Join me for this experimental, first ever, Homemaker Portrait Double Episode!
First, I’m chatting with Brittany Duncan, homemaker and fellow podcaster. Brittany has been keeping a home with her husband, Johnson, for 7 years. Even though she works outside the home, Brittany loves embracing the old ways of homemaking so much that she started a podcast to help other women her age do the same.

My second guest today is Jenna Punke-Bendt, homemaker and another fellow homemaking content creator. Jenna has been keeping a home with her husband, Doug, for 17 years. Jenna has embraced full time homemaking for most of those years as she has raised 4 boys who were all born within a span of only 5 years!
With both of these guests I will discuss their typical homemaking day, their homemaking strengths, weaknesses and influences. We discuss homemaking expectations and gratitude as well as classic Q&A with all the usual questions plus a new one about hospitality. Finally, we talk to the younger and the older women with some Titus 2 advice.

    Show notes

Send me a text about this episode!

"There are homes in which there is nothing remarkable in the way of grandeur or elegance, yet the very atmosphere as you enter it is filled with sweetness like, 'the smell of a field that the Lord hath blessed'. It is the aroma of love, the love of Christ shed abroad in human hearts." ~JR Miller
We have an opportunity, homemakers, to cultivate a particular spiritual and relational fragrance in our homes. Will it be a sweet aroma or an offensive stench? Today I am sharing a little story about the aroma of home, some of my favorite spice mixes and I'm pulling a classic cookbook From My Bookshelf that I think will help you in your homemaking journey.

Send me a text about this episode!

In today's Monday Motivation, I'm sharing my summer memories of creating from my grandmother's scrap box and how I carried that practice into my own home when my children were growing up. Whether to fill time on a rainy afternoon, keep little hands busy during travel or in waiting rooms, a Busy Box for your kids or grandkids will certainly spark creativity. Just remember, it's not really about the end result, it's the process and the memory you are making of being creative together.

I'm also answering a listener question from The AoH Mail Bag about creating family and personal mission plans.
