A Florida man recently emptied all 30 rounds from his AR rifle at his pool boy, and yet is facing no charges from the local Sheriff.

During the early morning hours of Friday, June 23, three San Antonio Police Department officers responded to the apartment of 46-year-old Melissa Perez, who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis.
Perez fled into her apartment, armed herself with a hammer, and as the three officers stood just outside her front door they shot and killed her.
Those three officers have now been charged with murder.

The terrible news of the Titanic submarine appearing to be lost at see with passengers aboard raises an interesting legal question--would it be lawful for some of the passengers to kill others so that their limited oxygen supply would last long, increasing the prospects for the killers to survive to rescue?
An actual real-world case involving castaways at sea who killed one of their fellow survivors in order to increase their own prospects for survival occurred back in the 1880s, and was brought to trial in British courts at the time.
We'll discuss the legal doctrines involved generally, and the 1884 British court decision specifically, in today's show.

Today's show covers five use-of-force videos with interesting lessons to document. The first three videos are:
1. Use of OC Spray against a knife robbery.
2. Angry homeowner with pistol in hand yells at workers in street.
3. Algerian man attacks French woman & child in home.
The next two videos are of defensive gun uses, and both illustrate why it might well be tactically imperative and legally justifiable to fire a great number of rounds into the aggressor as quickly as possible. In both of these instances, merely one or two shots fired by the defender may well have left them vulnerable to being killed, justifying their perceived need to fire many more than a couple shots.

Yesterday, a New York City grand jury indicted Daniel Penny, who had been charged with second-degree (reckless) manslaughter in the choke-hold death of Jordan Neely on a NYC subway on May 1.
Penny has claimed that he put Jordan in a restraining choke-hold position because Jordan had been making violent threats to the passengers on the subway car, and Penny was attempting to hold him for police. Penny is white and Neely was black.
Also yesterday, Jordan Williams was arrested on a charge of manslaughter for stabbing to death Devictor Ouedraogo, also on a NYC subway car, purportedly in defense of Williams' girlfriend from Ouedraogo's threatening conduct towards her. Williams is black, and I'm unaware of Ouedraogo's race.
These breaking news stories provide an opportunity for our Law of Self Defense community to take a deep dive into the legal dangers of defending others, and that's EXACTLY what we'll do in today's show.

Today's show will address the question of whether displaying a gun towards another person for the purpose of changing their behavior is an act of deadly force--meaning, that you must first have been facing a deadly force threat, or your display of the gun would constitute felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
This question was addressed directly by a recent Florida state Supreme Court decision, and I'll be reading through and translating that decision into plain English for our Law of Self Defense community.
