Show notes

Which books should every Christian bookstore remove immediately? Which ones should they make sure and stock up on? Author, blogger, and book reviewer Tim Challies joins the podcast today to give his opinion on the best 3 and worst 4 books every church book store should be aware of. We also talk about his new book, Seasons of Sorrow, about the tragic and sudden passing of his son, Nick and how Tim and his family have navigated that loss. #216 Are Progressive Christians Hijacking Jesus? With Jason Jimenez Sep 17, 2023

Show notes

Progressive teachers and churches now offer a version of Jesus that emphasizes friendliness, acceptance, and tolerance—a version that many Christians are falling for. They don’t realize that they’ve been sold a fairy tale that is historically and biblically indefensible. Jason Jimenez joins the podcast today to talk about how progressive teachers are Hijacking Jesus and denying core historic truths about who he is. In this episode, we talk through the progressive teachings of Jesus’ deity and humanity, his virgin birth, his miracles, his atoning sacrifice, his resurrection, and his second coming. Then we compare those teachings to historic doctrines of the Christian faith to equip you to understand and answer the progressive vision of Jesus.

#214 Beware of Christ-less Conservatism, with Jon Root Sep 03, 2023

Show notes

For the past several years, Christians have been confronted with the chaos coming from the progressive left. We’ve seen words become redefined, biblical gender and sexuality become confused, and the push for abortion rights become stronger. It can be tempting to push back by swinging from one extreme to the other. It’s important to remember what unites us in the first place. My friend Jon Root joins the podcast today to share an urgent warning with the church about what he calls “Christ-less conservatism,” and how Christians can stand for conservative values in a hostile culture without compromising biblical faith.

#212 Christian Music and Christianity Need Revival, with John Cooper Aug 20, 2023

Show notes

John Cooper joins me for another “mashup” episode going out to both our platforms this week! In this episode, we talk about the state of Contemporary Christian music, and how we got to a place in history in which industry insiders are promoting and defending anti-Christian values among their artists. We cover everything from recent events such as a drag queen topping the iTunes Christian charts to recent deconstruction stories to who owns the Christian record labels. We end with some encouragement and a hopeful call to the church to return to the fear of God and holiness.
