#298 Should Christians Practice Deliverance Ministry? | Pt. 3, with Simon Brace Mar 30, 2025

Show notes

In episode three of our series on deliverance ministry, we dive into the question of what is going on in other countries. As we've challenged the paradigm of deliverance ministry, many commenters have suggested that my guests and I might not understand the true nature of deliverance because we live in America. But what about the idea that there is a heightened experience of demonic activity in other countries? Do Christians outside of the influence of the West need access to different teachings and protocols to handle demonic encounters? In today's episode, the Regional Director of Ratio Christi in South Africa, Simon Brace, joins the podcast to talk about his experience of living in South Africa for much of his life. He discusses the influence of African religions and the true nature of spiritual warfare.

#297 Pastoring in an Age of Skepticism, with John Joseph (Pastor Series Pt. 3) Mar 23, 2025

Show notes

I'm joined today by my Pastor, John Joseph. Pastor John shares his story of growing up in Maryland in a nominal Catholic home, then pursuing a life of promiscuity, partying, drugs, alcohol, and drug dealing. John shares about how God led him to study apologetics, which convinced him that Christianity is true, which led him to discover the gospel, repent, and believe. He has a heart for the skeptic and the sufferer and I'm so excited to share his powerful story with you!

#296 Anti-intellectualism is a Discernment Killer! Mar 20, 2025

Show notes

In this video, I talk about the danger of anti-intellectualism, which can keep you from understanding your Bible and from living a vibrant Christian life. I also discuss the history of anti-intellectualism, and how it has led to several false movements and cults throughout Christian history. I also respond to some of the comments left under the videos of my current series that questions the concept of modern deliverance ministry from a biblical lens.

#294 Should Christians Practice Deliverance Ministry? | Pt. 2 Binding Demons & Legal Rights Mar 09, 2025

Show notes

In part two of our series on deliverance ministry, we discuss the Greek word daimonizomai, which many deliverance ministers translate as "demonization." We ask whether or not the Bible teaches that Christians can be demonized and what Scripture teaches about how Christians should interact with the demonic. We discuss several Scripture passages that mention binding, loosing, and binding the "strongman," and ask what they mean. Then we discuss the concept of "legal rights," and see what the Bible says about any rights demons may have in the life of the believer.
