    An Ontario healthcare report says 1,000 patients await daily care in hospital hallways Feb 01, 2019

    Alex is joined by David Jacobs M.D., Radiologist, Coalition of Ontario Doctors, to talk about a report released by Premier Doug Ford's council on improving healthcare, which says on any given day, as many as 1,000 patients are treated in the hallways of hospitals. Additionally, the report also revealed that in October 2018, almost 16 per cent of days spent in hospital were by patients waiting for care elsewhere. The largest proportion of that was people waiting to be transferred to long-term care, the report said, where the average wait time to access a bed is 146 days.

While it all sounds well and good, Elections Canada, the nation's independent and non-partisan group, who has oversaw the Canadian voting process for almost 100 years, doesn't have a seat at the table.

    ON Point is joined by retired Justice Russell Otter to discuss why we have a process for victim impact statements. This comes in the wake of the Humboldt/Sidhu case and the upcoming Bruce McArthur sentencing after both men plead guilty to charges against them. Justice Otter became a provincial court judge in July 1993. He was elected president of the Ontario Conference of Judges in 1999. From 2002-2015, he served as executive director of the Canadian Association of Provincial Court Judges
