    The 98%

Whether you’re in the entertainment industry or not, this is a podcast that will humour, shock, validate and inform. You think you knew what it’s like to be an actor? Think again…

The 98% explores what life is really like for the majority of actors and performers who, rather than trying to find an outfit for the Oscar’s, are trying to find a reader for a self tape after working a bar shift. It comes as a surprise to most that only 2% of actors earn their main source of income from acting work. This podcast represents, and gives a voice to, the other 98%.

What started as a comedy podcast in 2018, with co-hosts Alexa and Katie laughing and lamenting about the REAL #actorslife, has morphed into a relatable and supportive space through the lens of honesty and realism. And now, a platform and CIC run by Alexa. By lifting the curtain on things that need changing in the industry, exposing hidden truths, and chatting to brilliant industry professional guests from all corners of the biz, The 98% is a podcast, and platform, that works to humanise those in the industry and redefine what success means in a business that, before now, only shined a spotlight on the small minority.

    S3E14 - "You can make yourself a better CEO" Nov 02, 2020
    Show notes

During lockdown Alexa and Katie hosted a live webinar with performance psychologist Dr Steve Bull (aka Alexa's Dad!) who you may remember from the resilience episode in Series 1. As the current situation is badly affecting performers and creatives, it is especially important to work on mental wellbeing and Alexa and Katie felt it was important to share this webinar with all listeners of The 98%. In this episode you'll hear Steve talk about "The 3 C's" which include, controlling the controllables, outcome vs process focus, commitment, your personal brand, confidence, the importance of reviewing successes, being your own CEO and "Putting the big rocks in first". Part 2 of this webinar which includes attendees' questions that Steve answers can be found on our patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/the98percentpod Where you can hear advice on self referenced appraisal, how to handle the industry without the safety blanket of college, how to deal with being being ghosted after auditions/reaching out, how you can successfully leverage your strengths and mentally handling paythebills jobs that don't fulfil you.

We wanted to feature this on patreon as a special thanks to our patreon supporters who help ease the financial weight of paying to keep The 98% up and available for everyone to listen to for free. You can sign up for monthly donations or give a one off donation and still have access to the extra content that's up there! *Every little helps* and goes directly back into keeping this podcast going.
