What's holding the New England Patriots back more? Mac Jones and his injury or the Coaching staff? Sep 28, 2022

Show notes

Youtube version: https://youtu.be/o79M79cIdCo
The New England Patriots have struggled out of the gate so far in the 2022 NFL Season, as many predicted they would, starting the year 1-2 and now headed to Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. They will more than likely do so without their starting quarterback Mac Jones, who left Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens with a reported severe ankle injury.
On this Episode of THE 617, Craig and Joe try to figure out what has been holding back the Patriots so far this season: has Mac Jones taken a step back from his encouraging rookie season which got the Patriots back to the playoffs, and Mac to his first Bowl? Has the inexperienced or bad coaching made it difficult to make the offense work now that they have installed a brand new one that they had to learn?
Joe and Craig will discuss this.
One day, we will have a positive show again, today is not that day

Boston Celtics Suspend Ime Udoka for Entire 2022 Season Sep 23, 2022

Show notes

On Thursday night, The Boston Celtics suspended Head Coach Ime Udoka for the entire 2022-23 NBA Season following revelations of an "improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff," which is a violation of the team's code of conduct.
Joe Mazzula will be the head coach of the Celtics this season.
In the press release, the Celtics said that Udoka's future with the team will be decided at a later date, so there's a chance that his time with the team is over. There's still a lack of clarity as to what actually happened, but the impact is massive for the entire organization.

Patriots get first win in Pittsburgh / Is Vince Wilfork a Hall of Famer? Sep 21, 2022

Show notes

YOUTUBE VERSION: https://youtu.be/Xo2NkR6gzbc
The New England Patriots got their first win of the season this past Sunday with a 17-14 win over Mitch Trubisky and the rebuilding Pittsburgh Steelers. While the gameplan and scheme looked improved, it definitely wasn't perfect, as Mac Jones' decision-making still must improve and certain members of the offense need to stand out more, mainly the tight ends, Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, and the Patriots' deep threat, DeVante Parker.
On the Defensive side of the ball, it was hard to find a negative as the Patriot's defensive line completely dominated the Steeler's offensive line, led by Matt Judon, Christan Barmore, and especially Detrich Wise.
Later in the show, with Vince Wilfork's Patriots' Hall of Fame induction this upcoming Saturday, we discuss if he will make the actually Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, as he and 24 other former Patriots were announced as Finalists.

The season kicked off in a less than spectacular way for the New England Patriots in Week 1 of the new NFL Season, as they were embarrassed by the AFC East Rival Miami Dolphins 20-7 in week 1.
Nothing seemed to go right, from the offense to the coaching and now the Patriots enter Week 2 down 0-1 vs the Pittsburgh Steelers team before they go on a really challenging stretch of their schedule, against the Baltimore Orioles and Green Bay Packers.
Is there a chance for them to turn it around, Mike and Ray debate.
