"What the Hell Was I Supposed To Do?" | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 454 Dec 17, 2025

Show notes

Grandma Lucille is a viral sensation! In this episode of the 100% Wild Podcast, Matt Drury breaks down the hilarious "What the hell was I supposed to do?" moment that racked up over 4 million views after she took a shot while the deer was still moving . We also celebrate a major milestone as Matt's daughter, Lola, harvests her very first buck during the Missouri youth season using a suppressed Winchester 350 Legend over standing beans . From the "unintended comedy" of 92-year-old Lucille in deer camp to the pure excitement of a child's first successful hunt, this episode captures the heart of what makes hunting season special for every generation.

Beyond the highlights, we dive into the heavy-hitting topics affecting hunters today, specifically the controversial $250,000 deer cull in Wildwood, MO. We discuss why the city is hiring sharpshooters and how local bowhunters are fighting to prove they are a more efficient, cost-effective solution for suburban management . We also break down late-season tactics for hunting the "vast wasteland" of winter, the reality of "buck fever," and a candid debate on the MDC and NDA's stance on moon phase science versus what we actually see in the woods . This episode features gear designed for success, including DeerCast for movement prediction, Muddy Blinds, and Bog Pods for the perfect shot.

Public Land 188-Inch Buck in Indiana | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 453

Marshall Musser, a proud "Rack Packer," joins the podcast to tell the incredible, whirlwind tale of how he tagged a massive 188-inch whitetail buck on public land in Indiana! This epic out-of-state hunting trip was his first time hunting Indiana out of a saddle. Marshall from Pennsylvania , details how he and his buddies went from checking dispersed camping sites and timber cuts to putting boots on the ground and finding a core area with big rubs.

Hear the raw emotion of the hunt, including the unexpected two-grunt call that brought the giant buck in from 150 yards. Marshall proves that sometimes, just throwing a dart at a map and exploring new public hunting ground can pay off in the biggest way. Congrats to Marshall on a true public land giant and a memory for a lifetime!

Rattling in a MASSIVE Iowa Buck: Biggest Deer of My Life! | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 452 Nov 26, 2025

Rattling in a MASSIVE Iowa Buck: Biggest Deer of My Life! | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 452

As November's rut action explodes, hosts Matt and Tim welcome Drury Outdoors team members Dave Kramer and Rick Malik to the studio to break down Dave's unbelievable Iowa bow kill. Hunting near a steep bluff on his cousin Carter's beautiful property, Dave and Rick strategically chose a stand half a mile from the massive buck's core area based on a perfect wind. The rut action was immediate, with the deer counting upwards of 30 bucks by mid-morning. Despite Dave's reluctance to call, Rick persuaded him to try rattling , which proved to be the pivotal moment. Within seconds, the 6.5-year-old giant, affectionately known as "Ed Jones," charged out of the thicket and stopped at 20 yards.

The incredible footage captures the chaos as Rick battled to film the rapidly moving deer, shouting updates while dealing with trees. Dave, at full draw, waited for the massive deer to clear the limbs and executed the shot on his personal biggest buck with any weapon. The shot was successful, and the celebration was shared immediately. Dave and Rick share the full story of this spectacular hunt, Rick's "I told you so" moment , and their attempt to enter the "Ring of Honor" by winning "Producer of the Year" for the third straight time.
