Goodbye Oklahoma!, hello Our Life! Newcomer Lexi Howard pulls no punches in her thrilling, raw and riotous debut. With a seemingly infinite budget, she pulls off impressive set pieces, including an explosive musical number that had the crowd begging for more. But it’s the small moments where Our Life both thrives and captivates. Howard embedded herself in a particularly high drama high school friend group to deliver this intimate, insider look at the trials and tribulations of the modern teen. Despite Howard’s proximity to her subjects, Our Life is honest. There’s love and understanding for the subjects here, particularly Howard’s drug addled best friend Jade. But there’s also scathing judgement, especially for her vapid sister Halle. Audience reactions were overwhelmingly positive although Our Life may have hit a little too close to home for some as there were multiple walkouts throughout. Overall, this is the must see production of the year and one you won’t want to miss!
