Texas Homegrown Music with Maylee Thomas

We feature different Texas music artists every week. As a music artist myself I wanted to give listeners an opportunity to know them in a personal way. Many new and seasoned players, writers and promoters who identify with Texas.

    Paige Plaisance Sep 27, 2026
    Show notes

This weeks interview is Paige Plaisance , and what a find for me. Hailing originally from a small town in Louisiana having made her Texas home in Austin, she has honed in on a style she calls SWAMPYTONK. I heard it first hand at the Granada as she opened for Uncle Lucius. What a gifted singer songwriter pianist this gal is. A new record out, produced by one of my fav’s Jonathan Tyler, totally caught my ears I’ve already got her on a playlist. Don’t miss this sweet gal. You’ll be hearing a lot more from her on Texas radio for sure. She’s got all you want for entertainment.

Thanks to The Rook McKinney and The Guitar Sanctuary.

    Gary Chapman Sep 06, 2026
    Show notes

Gary Chapman is my guest this week.. A dynamic, witty, passionate singer, songwriter, producer, talk show host that I first met in college. I remember his talent for songwriting and his quick wit, but he left in the middle of my Freshman year, to pursue his calling in Nashville. You would know him for the song he penned “Fathers Eyes” for Amy Grants Christian break out in 1979. He later married Amy and started a family spending next decades writing hit songs , performing , producing, talk show hosting , and letting his quick wit sprinkle the room with laughter. And like so many of us- his journey took some different paths, and now full circle we will talk about where he is today. Still writing, performing producing and a beautiful new family to care for. He will be performing The Boondocks Music Festival Oct 3rd in Farmersville Texas. Don’t miss this interview, I had some belly laughs

Thanks to The Rook McKinney and The Guitar Sanctuary.

    Sam Morrow Aug 16, 2026
    Show notes

Sam Morrow is my guest this week. I first discovered his music when he opened for The Red Clay Strays about three years ago in Terrell, Texas. Then I saw him with Robert Jon & The Wreck and I was once again impressed with his Texas sound. His latest releases on “ Southern Boogie” has captured an authentic vibe that Sam says was inspired by his producer Jonathan Tyler- yes THAT Jonathan who I have seen on many of my favorite artists releases as of late. Check this interview and music out and go by a tix to his show at The Guitar Sanctuary for Friday Sept 11th. You won’t regret it

Thanks to The Rook McKinney and The Guitar Sanctuary.

Caroline Grace is my guest tonight just off the heels of an incredible tour with Willie Nelson and I’m so incredibly proud of the young woman. She certainly has stepped into the much deserved limelight and has the makings of a career worth taking part in , especially if you’re a fan of old soul country music. And coming from these young pipes it has a fresh new look. Joined by her drummer and music influencer Jc Aquarius ( Atlantis Aquarius) we talk about her tour and trek to Nashville. I knew the first time she graced our stage Texas Music Revolution/ this was one to watch.

Liam Lee Taylor is another example of why I love this platform to showcase new upcoming Texas singer songwriters. His debut album “ Sunday Mornings in Texas” sets him up to be an artist to watch the rise of. He’s quite an entertainer too. Seasoned beyond his years.
